Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Given that CU is pedestrian friendly, with various paths situated throughout the campus and surrounding areas, it wouldn’t seem that parking would pose such problems. Yet, there is a high percentage of commuting students who are guaranteed priority in CU’s parking lots, leaving campus residents and local students out of luck. Freshmen and other residents living on campus often complain about the distance from their assigned lot, which makes having a car freshman year an inconvenience. First-year students opting to bring their vehicles will undoubtedly forget to fill meters at some point throughout the year; therefore, caution is needed to avoid paying excessive amounts of fines.

Most parents realize a car is unnecessary after one visit to campus, so the actual number of first-year students with cars is few. Instead, students turn in their keys for skateboards and bicycles, while others simply resort to their feet. Problems with parking and transportation seem to only provide major inconveniences during the winter months. When the temperature drops and Boulder is masked in snow, students living off campus choose to drive their four-wheel-drive vehicles instead of walking down icy streets. As a result, parking lots reach their capacities, parking meters become even less of an option, and students are stuck driving circles around campus, desperately seeking a spot.

Parking

Parking is very expensive and often times far away from all my classes. It is not worth it to buy a parking pass. The bus system is very good and there is housing available within walking distance

Parking Is Beyond Difficult

If you want free, close parking you've come to the wrong school. The city of Boulder is outrageously packed as is, add in a significantly sized college campus and parking is nearly impossible. On-campus parking is hard to find and increasingly expensive. Off-campus parking is pretty hard to find, sometimes free and sometimes just as expensive.
