University of Colorado - Campus StrictnessCollege Prowler3.46
College Prowler Take
Whether it is for walking around with a cup of beer, making a double-lane turn, or simply looking suspicious, CU students soon learn that the Boulder police will get them one way or another. Campus police are extremely serious about drug use and drinking. Officers can be found wandering through the dorms with the intent to apprehend students engaging in illegal activities, so be prepared for random knocks on the door at all hours. Once a student is written up by the Resident Assistant, or arrested by the officers, he or she must answer to Judicial Affairs. This is a committee that reviews students’ reported behavior. Small infractions, such as smoking marijuana or drinking in a dorm room, usually result in an informative alcohol class that costs about $100. In addition, the student must complete a given number of community service hours, according to the penalty committed. A policy was implemented called the “three-strikes” rule. According to the regulation, a student who is found to be in violation of the University’s drug and alcohol policies three times will be suspended for one full semester.

I would say the city is probably more lenient than the campus. Currently, on campus you can get suspended for your second marijuana incident, and regarding alcohol, suspension is definitely considered if you have multiple violations. Other than suspensions, most of the sanctions start costing students a lot of money through the campus.

The campus police seem to be more concerned with busting underage drinkers than anything else. |

Police suck here. But being Greek, they really allow us to keep to ourselves. If you are nice to them, they don’t bug you. |

Colorado, in general, is very...
Colorado, in general, is very strict about drinking and driving. I’ve known people who were arrested while trying to get a CD out of their car with no intention of even driving. I wouldn’t suggest trying to get around it. This law is enforced to promote safety for yourself and other drivers. |
