College Prowler Take

Looking over the list of dining options that Boulder has to offer, one might think they were in a city such as Los Angeles or New York. But don’t let the out-of-state license plates fool you, this is Colorado, and we just happen to have it that good. Depending on the appetite or mood, a multitude of Boulder restaurants, coffeehouses, delis, and juice joints remain connoisseurs in catering to a variety of cravings and needs. Early risers requiring a caffeine fix can easily purchase a latté and a freshly-baked muffin from at least three different establishments scattered throughout the Hill—adding only a few short minutes to a student’s daily walk to class. For lunch, Illegal Pete’s is a favorite, based on the daily long lines. Yet, if a gigantic five-dollar burrito doesn’t seem worth the wait, students simply continue towards Deli Zone or Salvaggio’s for a cheesesteak or turkey sub served on fresh-baked bread.

On the same block, students enjoy Happa’s happy hour, where appetites gather around the elevated sushi bar. Those who prefer their food cooked over a grill often choose Thunderbird for burgers, while others opt for healthy international cuisine. Pearl street area offers some of the finest in cuisine and is easily one of the most popular areas to visit for a nice dinner out. With The Kitchen being named best restaurant by The New York Times all the way to The Med having such a great variety of really tasty food for a price that wont break the bank. There is a little something for everyone in order to have a nice dinner out on the town. Dig in!

Amazing! It's possible to find...

Amazing! It's possible to find great happy hour specials and eat really well for pretty cheap, especially if you're going with friends and splitting the bill. There's a wide variety in Boulder, and Denver---which has absolutely everything---is just a half hour away.

The restaurants are so delicious...

The restaurants are so delicious and numerous that when I go home to Colorado Springs I am offended at the small selection. There is cuisine to fit every taste from burgers, sandwiches, burritos, and hot dogs to Indian and Ethiopian foods. The best hot spots are Half Fast Subs, Chipotle, the Taj, Chipotle, and Pei Wei.

There is a wide variety of food...

There is a wide variety of food off campus from chain restaurants, such as Qdoba and Jimmy Johns, to Boulder-specific locations, like You Mee Noodle House. The Hill is one of the most convenient places to grab food if you have a break from classes. There are also good places on 30th, Baseline, and Pearl.

I have to say that Boulder has some of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. You can just hop on the bus, and it’s a really short ride to Pearl Street Mall, and there are a ton of great restaurants.

There is a lot more variety in...

There is a lot more variety in dining off campus than on campus. Starting with the Hill, Illegal Pete’s is the burrito spot and has a fun, fast-paced atmosphere. Prufrocks next door is a hippie hangout, and everything I’ve ever had there tastes like armpit sweat. Deli Zone has good sub sandwiches, but I think Salvaggio’s is better. The University Hill Market has great gyros and stays open late. Finally, you have to check out the famous Sink; the chicken tenders are amazing. Moving down from the Hill, Cosmo’s Pizza has the best slices and they sell beer, too. Down on Pearl Street, everything gets a little pricey, but Jax Fish House is great, and the Med is wonderful and has something for any appetite. Last, the Boulder Café has the best happy hour on food, so check it out.
