Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

UConn is a great place to spend your college years. There will be aspects of different universities that people like and dislike, so you won't have the perfect college experience at UConn—or anywhere, for that matter; however, you won't hate your time at UConn. There’s something for everyone here, with so many clubs and organizations on campus. If you pursue what interests you, you will have a great college experience. These clubs exist for a reason: to bring people together with common interests. If you don’t pursue them, you’re missing out on a chance to meet new people and have new experiences. Some students get overwhelmed with the large class sizes, limited parking, and the walks to class in unreliable New England weather. However, it's important to remember that college life is an adjustment.

The entire student body unifies over basketball. Whether you’re a fan of the sport or not, Husky pride is everywhere. Campus is like its own city since there’s really nothing else around Storrs, Conn. While its size may be intimidating, you learn quickly where everything is and which buildings your classes are in. Campus transportation makes it easy to navigate from one side to the other, as well. UConn’s academics are not to be ignored, with a stand-up reputation among New England public universities. A degree from UConn is sure to help you get the future you want.

Tough to Find

Unless you live in an on-campus apartment it can be hard to find parking where and when you need it. There are a few commuter lots that aren't too far off campus and have bus services but if you need to drive into campus quickly and you live off campus, it may take you a while. P.S. The police ticket like it's their job... oh wait..

Always Getting Better

UConn has constantly been adding new buildings and additions to the campus. I am very impressed with the library, all the dining halls, and the amount of campus activities that are offered. The U (student center) has basically everything you need from a food court to a barbershop to a movie theater.

Health & Safety at University of Connecticut

Pretty Safe

There have been few rare instances where I have felt unsafe at UConn. There are many resources to keep students safe; Blue emergency lights, Guard Dogs and Husky Watch nighttime escort services, and I guess the police, however, I see them writing parking tickets more than anything. I guess that's a testament to how little crime there is to worry about in the middle of Storrs, CT.
