Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Off-campus apartments are where the major parties take place, so you can imagine what the inside of these apartments looks like. On-campus apartments are hard to get, so a lot of people opt to get one off campus. This requires you to have a car, even though there is an apartment shuttle bus that goes to Celeron and Carriage (the two most popular off-campus apartments). If you want to party on the weekends and don’t mind the noise, it’s a great place to live.

However, there are lots of other apartment options farther away from campus (a couple of miles at most). Parking is definitely better when you live off campus and commute, too. On-campus apartments like Hilltop and Charter Oak are nicer and better choices if you don’t have a car. There are many apartments around campus to choose from, so do your research to find the best one and best location for you.

Apartments Are Not for Me

While some of the apartments further from campus may be nice, the ones closest to campus are notorious for parties and seem a bit expensive, especially with the cost of gas!

Off Campus Parties

It seems to me like the off campus housing at Uconn is typically for partiers. I know that there are parts of off campus housing where there is not partying going on in the particular apartments, however there is typically some sort of wildness going on around there on the weekends. It seems very accessible and available for those who are willing to live off campus however, and there are also shuttle buses that go to these off campus houses and bring them into the main part of campus. Therefore off campus housing is an option many students choose.
