Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Off-campus apartments are where the major parties take place, so you can imagine what the inside of these apartments looks like. On-campus apartments are hard to get, so a lot of people opt to get one off campus. This requires you to have a car, even though there is an apartment shuttle bus that goes to Celeron and Carriage (the two most popular off-campus apartments). If you want to party on the weekends and don’t mind the noise, it’s a great place to live.

However, there are lots of other apartment options farther away from campus (a couple of miles at most). Parking is definitely better when you live off campus and commute, too. On-campus apartments like Hilltop and Charter Oak are nicer and better choices if you don’t have a car. There are many apartments around campus to choose from, so do your research to find the best one and best location for you.

Not Many Available That Aren't Offered Through the School

Uconn offers housing/apartments but they are only available to junior/seniors. So if you plan to live off campus as a freshman or sophmore you'll need to find another alternative. Not many apartments available in this area.

The Party Zone

I am fortunate enough to live on campus as a second semester freshman, so most of what I know is pure opinion and speculation. Off-Campus Housing is more commonly referred to as "the Party Zone," and often has to be patrolled by the college police in order to maintain some sort of social order.

Too Far!

I've never been in off campus housing but I hear it's alright. A lot of it looks a tad run down though. I think that it could use some sprucing up. Not only that, but it's so far from the main part of campus that it causes you to be reliant on someone with a car or a bus just to get to class. I think off campus housing could be a little better.
