College Prowler Take

If you consider alcohol a drug, which by definition it is, then drugs are all over campus. Beyond drinking, however, the most popular drug is marijuana. Most students will at least end up trying marijuana by the time they leave UD, if they haven’t already. It is just around all the time. If you have no desire to be around marijuana, it isn’t exceptionally hard to avoid it. You just hang out with those who are similarly-minded.

Drugs that are more dangerous than marijuana are not so common. Ecstasy is the next most familiar, but it is rare to be offered ecstasy, or even to know someone is taking it. Most people will not offer you any of these hard drugs because they are expensive, and if they have an addiction, they don’t want to share. While these drugs do show up from time to time, you should have no problems completely avoiding them should you so choose. You should have no worries about peer pressure; you definitely won’t become a junky because someone else forces you!

There is a lot of drinking,...

There is a lot of drinking, smoking, and marijuana. There is plenty of drug use beyond this, but these are the most common. It is quite possible to get through school without taking any drugs and never feel any pressure to do so. Most people will use, or at least try the main three by the end of college. Drugs abound all over campus, but I have encountered it more off campus where people have more freedom to experiment without UD getting involved.

I don’t think drugs are a problem. Some people smoke pot, not a lot of them—nobody seems be to that concerned.

There is definitely a drug culture that exists on our campus, but it is really small, can easily be avoided, and chances are, unless you’re really looking for it, you won’t find it. Stay away from drugs.

The drug scene is probably no worse than on other campuses. There’s mostly weed, some ecstasy, and a little cocaine, but I wouldn’t say there is a drug problem.
