UD Rocks!

I love the University of Delaware! I haven't gotten involved into any serious activities yet because I am just a freshman in my 1st term but I know what I am going to do. The only problem is there's so much around you, you can never get enough of it!

Lots of Things!

There's Carpenter building, the Bluehen's fieldhouse, tonnes of places for sports! The student centers are excellent, as for campus activities there's so much going on that it's hard to keep track. There are tonnes of clubs to join, but the experience of creating your own club is the best!

Greek or go home

Only about 20% of the student population is involved with the Greek system but it feels like wayyyyy more people are. It's getting bigger and bigger at UD and you don't have to be a part of it, but it's not a bad idea to join

Big here

Greek life is big here. However, it is not so big that you have to join to fit in. Frats are the main source of parties, but also provide great philanthropy. As a member of Greek Life here i strongly recommend it, but understand that it is not right for everyone

Love it so far

People should really take these posts with a grain of salt. Usually it seems like there are two type of people those who love the school they go to and praise it and those who hate it and have a vendetta against it however. I'll admit my love for this school may blind me some of it's flaws, but i truly can't comprehend why anyone wouldn't enjoy it here. So far, in my freshman year I have met great friends, taken classes with fantastic teachers and gone to amazing parties. I'm not saying this school is perfect and everyone should make the right college decision for themselves. Take the good reviews with the bad, but in my honest opinion this school is amazing

Nice town close to big cities

Newark has everything you need in a college town. However, after a while many students crave a change of pace so the close cities of Baltimore and Philly provide a nice break

Good sports,

The sports here are really good, in particular football. At times there can be less fans than there used to be, but many students still come out to support the time. A issue with not letting students tailgate made some students not come, but the stadium was still packed with fans, both non-student and student. Fortunately, it does not seem like the tailgating thing will last long or be as strict in future years, so that will bring back fans. Either way sports are a great option here to either attend or be a part of. Many students partake in club sports as well

Good-looking people

Speaking on a superficial level the campus is known for having good looking people. There are more girls here than guys so it seems like guys have the advantage, however I never hear of girls having problems finding hook-ups or even boyfriends.

Beautiful School

The campus here is really pretty. Many of the buildings have an antique, old school quality to them. Also the gym has plenty to offer such as rock climbing and swimming. In addition the gym is getting a renovation so it will be even better in 2013. The student centers offer great food and are fun to hang out in

LOVE IT

UD is the best school I have seen. I transferred here and absolutely love the spirit and friendliness. I easily made friends and it is even easier to find your personal niche and where you fit in on campus.

Buses or Bikes

The bus system at UD is always convenient in safe especially if the weather is poor. However, if it is a nice day out you will see plenty of students riding bikes around the campus. I have one and it is very nice because I don't have to wait for a bus or leave the dorm as early to get to my classes.

Definitely Safe

I have never actually felt unsafe on the UD campus. It might be large and spaced out, but everything is in walking distance. If it is dark out try to travel with at least one friend and always remember to lock your door. Campus Security is honestly very nice and friendly, even in regards to drinking. As long as you don't let yourself get too bad you will be fine.

What a Variety!

There are so many different dining halls that you can go to if you have a meal plan. Having "points" enables you to eat at different and more modern places on campus and main street offers a large variety of different restaurants that one can eat at.

Repeated Menus

I used to be a big meat-eater while living at home, but sometimes the beef here is questionable, to say the least. Cereal and soda are a big part of my diet. The dining halls are pretty good at offering up at least one or two good-looking entrees per meal. Using points at Trabant and Perkins is the BEST. Burgers, Chick-Fil-A, Dunkin Donuts... If it wasn't for all the walking to get there, Freshman 15 would rage!

Would Have Been Better

Recently, local and campus cops struck down on student tailgates at football games. This has caused sport games to become much less popular with students, as the sporting events are no longer as social and spirited. If student tailgates were still prominent, the games would be much more popular and more fun.

Can't Really Complain

UD isn't too bad, I can't complain about too much. I've lived close to the campus for 4 years prior to going to UD so it's not too new to me. It's kind of boring because of that reason, but it's still a good school.

My Home Away from Home

Staff and students are friendly and helpful. Security is top-notch and I always feel comfortable and safe. The school area is very well kept and the landscaping is beautiful. Local businesses are school friendly and support the students. Students are very respectful to the local residents and in turn the local residents are very neighborly. To date, my college experience certainly feels like "my home away from home.

Great!

A few got kicked off a couple years back, but the greek scene is coming back with dominance. You can see many people wearing letters around campus. Fraternity parties dominate the social scene. Those in greek life tend to love it and those who are not in greek life enjoy their college experience and are friends people in and out of greek life.

blue hen pride

I love it here. I'm an in-state student, and originally planned on going Ivy for college, but I fell in love with UD and I really can't imagine going anywhere else. Yeah, there are hassles with aid and cliques, but there's no mold to fit here. Its a very liberating place to be, and students are proud to rep that blue and gold.

Definite Party School

Some RAs take their jobs way too seriously and will write you up for anything. We like to call these RAs "no-lifers." There are always cops standing or driving around the avenues on weekends, but as long as you pass for sober when you walk by, they're not going to make a scene.
