College Prowler Take
Unpredictable is the best way to describe the weather conditions here. While the normal weather activities include hot, humid summers and mild winters with hardly any transition, Mother Nature likes to mix things up when you least expect it. There can be severe blizzards in winter or cold torrential downpours during summer. It is best to be prepared for all temperatures as the weather is never set.
Most students don’t mind the weather much as winter tends to be mild. It makes it much easier to get to class when the sidewalks are clear of slush and snow. The spring months in Newark are gorgeous. Students can be found outdoors all over the campus enjoying the warm weather. Sunbathing doubles for study time on particularly nice days. While the weather can fluctuate drastically from day to day, there are some days when the weather is perfect—days you will be glad you were here to enjoy.

The weather is usually pretty good. The summers can be hot and humid, but the winters are usually pretty mild (with the exception of this past winter). |

Delaware gets cold in the winter...
Delaware gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer. When you get to school in August, it is extremely hot. Most of the dorms don’t have air-conditioning, so it’s hard, but the winter is much nicer. This year, it didn’t get that hot near the end of the year unlike last year where it got really hot towards the end of the year. It all depends. It tends to rain a lot in March and April, and we don’t get a lot of snow. That is nice because walking to class in the snow is not fun. |

It’s typical Northeast U.S. weather and, since I’m from south Jersey, it’s what I’ve been used to for my whole life. That makes it hard to compare it to anything else. It was unseasonably warm for most of this winter. I don’t think I started wearing a jacket until December. |

I wanted to answer this question....
I wanted to answer this question. (I’m an Environmental Science major so the weather fascinates me!) The weather at UD is interesting! It may hit 100 one or two days a year, but in general, 85 to 90 would be hot during the summer. Unless you do winter and summer session, you should be comfortable. It seems to always be windy on campus, and it doesn’t rain too much. In winter, 20 degrees is about as low as it would get. If you’re only here for spring and fall, then you probably won’t see a snowflake. |

I’ve lived in Delaware all my life. Weather changes daily. It can be scorching hot one day and completely freezing the next. You just never know. The weather was hot until December 15 or so. I would wear shorts for most of my time at UD because it was very sunny and warm, for the most part. |
