Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students generally enjoy their time at DU and are content staying for four years. Classes are interesting, professors are friendly, and the campus is in the middle of a growing, energetic city. Social life at DU is varied and engaging, and students often say the best part of their time at DU has been the memories and friends they’ve made.

Some students complain that DU lacks diversity, and they say that the campus is too small, there’s not enough school spirit, and it’s too expensive. Some can’t wait to get away on the weekends to go party or attend football games at CU Boulder or CSU. Others are looking for more of an academic challenge in their college careers. DU offers a nice balance of academia and partying. If you’re looking to dedicate your college years solely to developing your career and learning as much as you can, DU probably isn’t the place for you. If you want to learn, but also want to have some fun in the process, DU might be the perfect fit.

Campus Strictness at University of Denver

Strictness: What You'd Expect

Because of the size of DU, class sizes are small, and professors really get to know you. If you skip class, they notice, and depending on who they are and if you have an excuse, this could effect your grade or not. As for campus security, they are very strict on smoking weed in the dorms and also disapprove of drinking in the dorms, if you are caught. Campus safety officers are not really in your business if you're not in the dorms, though.

Housing

Can't complain about housing. The dorms are actually pretty nice. Towers is where most athletes live and each suit has a kitchen and bathroom you share with 3 other people, the walk everywhere is a bitch. Halls (freshmen only) has a tone of people, community bathrooms, some coed floors, and a dinning hall, but the walk to the science buildings is a bitch. Nagel and Nelson are both incredibly nice with a bathroom and kitchen to share with 3 other people and both have great locations. Jmac (freshmen only) has all code floors, community bathrooms and the best location on campus, unless you're going to the light rail or a sports game.

Safety

There is not very much crime here, yes a girl will occasionally get their but pinched by some random guy who seems to love doing that, but otherwise you're fine. I can honestly say i feel completely safe at all times when I'm on or near campus.
