College Prowler Take
Greek life is considerably prominent on DU’s campus. Greeks sponsor a wide variety of events throughout the year, including everything from off-campus bar parties to community service events. Rush week, held in October, is a popular Greek tradition. Greek students hang banners, illustrate the campus with sidewalk chalk, and generally do all they can to recruit people to their particular houses. If you want to go Greek, rush is the best time to figure out which house is for you. Most of the students involved in Greek life are enthusiastic and proud to be a part of it. On-campus parties sponsored by Greeks have steadily declined due to administration tightening up on-campus partying policies. Those not involved in Greek life might feel slightly annoyed or swept away by “Greek Speak,” advertisements, and events around campus. But the Greek system at DU is not overly exclusive, and non-Greeks are welcome to attend bar parties and service activities.

I have friends at other universities who have a much better Greek program than the one at DU, which is pretty weak, in my opinion. That sucks, because I think Greek life should be a central part of college. |

Greek life is okay. If you’re not in a frat or sorority, you can feel kind of left out, because sometimes it’s all other students talk about. If you’re not really into it, though, you don’t have to see too much of it around campus. |

There are quite a few Greeks on campus. Greek life sponsors a lot of social events and other dealings throughout the year, so it’s cool to be a part of that if you’re a social person. Even if you don’t go Greek, you can still participate in some of the activities. |

Greek life is really fun. You get so many opportunities to go out, put on bar parties, and other cool stuff. Greeks are a big part of campus life. Everyone I’ve met in the Greek system has been really cool. |

I’ve never been in a frat, but the guys I know who are in a frat really liked it. You don’t have to be part of Greek life to still have fun doing some Greek stuff. They don’t try to act all high and mighty, although many non-Greek students assume they do. |
