Advice on Finding a Job/Internship Most of DU’s undergraduate programs do not require students to work an internship in order to graduate. However, internships provide invaluable experience in the job field and can lead to greater things, such as part- or full-time jobs. Searching for internships and jobs is largely the student’s responsibility, but the Career Center at DU has counselors who are happy to assist in the process. Many students complain that internships and jobs are difficult to come by, which can be true. But with enough diligence and perseverance, you’ll find a position that will help you quite a bit. Take advantage of the career services offered at DU. Career counselors can help you with everything from tweaking your resumé to practicing interviewing techniques. Experience in the job field is the best teacher. No matter how much you learn in your classes, spending time working on the job is invaluable. Many times, an internship is the key to getting your foot in the door for a full-time position after you graduate. Internships also allow you to meet people, and you guessed it—network, network, network.
