Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Although Denver doesn’t have the extensive public transportation system that is inseparable from many other metropolitan cities, it’s not hard to get around. The free bus rides with Pioneer ID cards are convenient, as are the several bus stops located throughout campus. Common stops such as grocery stores, parks, and malls are within walking or at least biking distance. DU’s campus welcomes bikes, as does Denver’s weather and road conditions (for the most part). If you need to get somewhere farther away, such as the airport or across town, take the bus or a taxi. In a few years, transportation in Denver will be much smoother as the light-rail system continues to expand. Even now, taking the light rail is a favorable alternative to driving when headed downtown or to another part of Denver.

Even with the number of transportation options in Denver, many students still choose to bring their cars to campus. If you’d rather get around in a car, but don’t have one on campus, chances are, you’ll meet someone willing to take you places or lend you their car. But beware! Gas prices in Denver are relatively expensive, and parking is a headache throughout the city.

Free Light Rail / RTD

During the first week, you get a sticker that you put on your student ID that gives you free access to all light rail and RTD services at any time. It is very convenient to get downtown and one of the best things the University does for its students.

Transportation

transportation around school is limited to either walking or calling a university mini-bus service, however you tend to have to wait hours for it to pick you up. Transportation around the Denver area is amazing. There are very detailed buses and trains that take you all over for free with your attendance at DU.
