Very Chill – Its hot the first few months but once october starts rolling in the cold becomes apparent. It will last like this until mid march- april. Then it will be sunny and breezy. But it's florida so be prepared for sporradic rain showers.

No Way You Are Bored – UF is the best hands down in florida. Fall semester comes with football games, homecoming, concerts, and more. Also the downtown area is very classy. If you are looking for a way to stay fit, UF has innumerable ways, such as gyms, joining recreational club sports, etc. If you feel lost trying to find something to do, theres a club (IDEAL) that helps you find a club or volunteer work. You wont miss out on anything at UF.

Good Variety – There is a good amount of things to do in this city. The restaurant choices are great. There are many spots to appreciate nature, such as lakes and parks.

Fast Food – There is literally a fast food place on every corner. Not healthy for a student life. i really wish there were a whole foods or a grocery store that wasn't so expensive. The publix and wal-mart here are more expensive than thos in South Florida!

English Program Is Amazing – If you're an English major, make sure to take classes with Professor Kenneth Kidd, Anastasia Ulanowicz, Avraham Balaban and Laurie Gries. They are AMAZING and will challenge you. Genuinely care about students and you will so look forward to going to class.

Semi Diverse – Lots of white students but you'll see your fair share of Asians, Hispanics and blacks. Haven't noticed any sort of discrimination against minorities (at least I haven't experienced any) but I am sure it occurs in small numbers. Overall feel at home, lots of organizations geared to different interests, race, ethnicity and are not excluding types. You'll find a group to click with regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, religion, race, etc.

Apartment Prices Good! University Club apartments is amazing! I renewed my lease for my last and final year at UF. The staff get's things done, are friendly, and always make sure to make fun events for the community. Maintenance and parking are great. Price is 464 with utilities included. You do have to pay overages but mine is usually 24 dollars, even on hot summer months. Completely doable in my opinion. There are three different bus routes: the 9, 35, and the 36. Campus is only ten minutes away! We are far away yet close enough to Archer Road (main road here in Gville) were you'll find shopping centers, places to eat, and a movie theater. Best of all, you get your own private bedroom with a private bath and you have the option to lease it furnished or unfurnished. Overall awesome experience!

Dining Off Campus – I've lived in Gainesville since I was 6 and have been to many of the restaurants. Midtown has tons of places to eat and many places do offer student discounts as well. If you venture further off campus you can find delicious town favorites like Satchels or Las Margaritas.

Friendliest College – UF is one of the most friendly campuses I have ever been on. Everyone is very nice and helpful. Game days are the best because you can make new friends out of complete strangers, just because you are both gator fans

Gainesville is a college town, so much of the town life is centered around the college. The bus transportation system is pretty reliable and can get you to where you need to go. You can always go to the Harn art museum or the Florida natural history museum. All in all there is good food and a friendly environment in Gainesville and everyone is a Gator :)

Hard to Park – it's really hard to find parking. you buy a parking permit for about $144 and it doesn't guarantee you'll have a parking spot. it's better if you don't have a car on campus and to use the buses.

Health & Safety:
Lots of Precautions – There is medical amnesty for students that may abuse alcohol or drugs and feel like they are in danger. I always feel safe because I could call to get assistance, and there are stations where I can press a button for emergency. There are street lights on campus whenever it is dark and there are vans you can call to pick you up late at night. The dorms had fire drills and they talk about ways to keep ourselves safe.

General Theatre – There are plenty of opportunities to get involved. There was a social at the beginning of the year so you could meet people within the other fine arts schools. If you do not get a part in the productions that the school is having, you could always go to the Florida Players club and try to get a part there. There is also a theatre improv group that everyone loves.

Bring on the Change – It's taking me a while to adjust to the changes I have recently encountered. But if there's anywhere I'd like to learn how to adapt, it would be here in Gainesville

Too Many Options – I've never been in a city where there were so many places to eat on one road.

Adjusting to Change – Gainesville is very different than the big city of Miami which is where I'm from. The weather is not particularly inviting but the people are very nice and love the college kids. It's a nice relaxing place to live

The University is very strict about it's rules. Although they give you a lot of freedom (such as no curfew) they do enforce all rules.

Night Life – There are a lot of things to do such as clubs/bars for every type of person. For people who don't like to party, every Friday there are gator nights where there are a lot of activities to engage in.

The way classes are set up help a lot. For classes that have around 300 people in them, discussion sessions are set up every week to review the material that was discussed in class in a smaller setting. The professors are very well informed and do help the students when contacted.

I am sure there are drugs on campus, but I am unaware of any. I think if you hang with certain people then you may be involved in that. I feel safe to be drug free at the University.

Football Is Not Everything – I am not thrilled with the emphasis that is put on sports, especially football. I would like to see more just club sports that people can participate in with competing. I enjoy many sports, but I am not interested in competing. I just love the exercise :)

I chose to live on campus to meet new people and to acclimate myself to the college my 1st year. The size of the dorm is ok; I wish it had at least a sink to brush your teeth in. It was very nice to be able to pick your exact room and roommate so you are not put with a random person and you have a say. The best is meeting new people and always having someone to hang out with. The worst is the bathrooms. I wish they were a little cozier and not so institutional. The cost of the dorms is a little pricey, but not ridiculous. I wish they offered a discount for students that have a higher GPA or something. I am happy in my dorm overall :)

Do It Early – Just be on top of things and don't be afraid to ask for help from one of the aid officers if you're confused -it saves you time in the long run.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
