UF has a lot of great facilities that are free or low cost to students. The SW Rec center is a huge fitness center that is free to students and open almost all the time. UF has a great student health care center that is partnered with Shands Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in the southeast. The Counseling and Wellness center is also really helpful, they will go out of their way to make sure you get the mental health and personal wellness services you need. The Reitz Union has everything - a print lab, small arcade, lots of food places, study areas, and often offers movie screenings and other fun things. Basically, there's always SOMETHING to do somewhere on campus, you have no excuse to be bored.

A Big Community Made Really Small – The greek life is a great opportunity to meet a group of people that will probably become your friends for the rest of your life. its also a great way to start networking across the campus to meet people and get 'Ins" with organizations such as student government. The social aspect is very appealing that you get to meet hundreds of new people and you don't have to try and meet people; they come looking for you. However it is very time consuming and must be something you really lust for. So take into consideration your current academic stress and add on another 3 credit course and if you can handle it, then you can handle greek life. It seems to be very interesting and would definitely consider it to be a great option. Greek life viewed by non-greek life students is more of a view that all they do is party and don't focus on academics; but until you actually give it a shot and see how involved and dedicated they are to their studies, you really can't have a point of view; the average of greek life students hold higher GPA's than the rest of the campus. So its definitely beneficial.

AMAZING CAMPUS!! The accessibility to the places on campus are fantastic! As a student you get free bus servicing everywhere; but when people think bus, "It must be slow and ill never get anywhere!" WRONG. The bus's are highly efficient, running over 30 routes around campus to get you to the awesome buildings. Most of the buildings have a older appealing outside look; but the insides are magnificent; latest technology in the libraries, millions of books to choose from, 6 floors of study space and computer labs!, printing facilities, and etc. And don't forget the gym! The gym is absolutely breath taking, hundreds of free classes to take to get into great physical shape and also includes several basketball indoor/outdoor courts, volleyball fields, tennis, racquetball. Also the recreation center sets up a wide variety of sports for the students to participate in, from basketball to cricket they have a wide variety of selections to fit your needs. there is never a dull moment on campus; the student government disperses a 17million dollar budget across the campus for clubs and organizations to setup events for students; if you can't find something, you never looked. there are hundreds of daily events; there are so many its hard to decide! From midnight breakfast to a shaving cream fight at 2am to the gator growl before football games; hundreds of new awesome people to meet and always something fun to do!

Best Computer Access and Accessories – There are many places around campus to get access to computer, there may be a few lines here and there; especially during exam weeks, but if you don't mind the wait there is plenty of opportunities to use computers. I find it very convenient to bring my own computer; also the bookstore gives great deals on computers and can setup great financing programs for you if necessary. I bought a computer from there and got a free printer; of actual good quality. Also there is internet access all around the campus through wifi/direct connect. I feel that having a laptop makes working on school work to be a lot easier, because i can setup where ever i like and have great internet access. Also if you don't have a printer but need something to print and don't have that spare change; the Reitz student union on campus offers free printing for anything you need!! Although it does close; fairly late 10pm.. And is also located in the central area on campus; very convenient!

Great Support – There is a lot of help from the school and many scholarships given. Apply for FAFSA first and look at the colleges you are in for more scholarships there is so much money given out to help students but you need to invest in the time in applying for them.

During the summer there are less students here gratefully but the weather is so stifling there isn't alot of wind as were not near the coast and there is alot of rain. It very unpredictable to know which side your going to get many times students at least the ones use to the floridian weather bring umbrellas and try to stay inside the college buildings until the weather subsides.

Registration Process and Advisors – Catalogs of our Departments are given out within a certain given amount of time to see the available classes and build your schedule that is preferable to one's taste. There are many advisors available during this time so that if needed to consult one of them an appointment or walk-in the registrar's office will schedule you to speak with one. This is a great method as the registration process can be quite frustating sometime in seeing what classes you need to take next. With the help of these advisors they explain more concretely what it is you need or what your degree requirements are.

Great EMBA Program – I think that the EMBA program is one of the best. The administration is top notch. They are very helpful for the students (all working professionals). I think this program is the best value for the cost.

College of Health Sciences – I am in the college of health science studying Pre-Occupational therapy. This program is great because it allows me to take 2 semesters worth of graduate level classes during my time here in undergrad. I have had some of the best professors that are very influential in law and policy making in D.C. during this time of great change in our health care system. The professors at the University as a whole really care about your success and are very willing to help you .

Florida is one of the best universities that the state system has to offer. I love it here. Every student is very committed to their academics, and your social life will have plenty of options from Greek Life, to intramural sports, clubs and other affiliations.

University Ave Is the Place to Be – Restaurants in Gainesvile are very diverse and there is probably anything that you could possibly think of. From gourmet sushi, to steak houses, ethic foods of all varieties from Indian to Thai , and vegan options. My favorite Japanese place is chopstix because of its wonderful view and you might even spot our mascot , an alligator!

No Way You Are Bored – UF is the best hands down in florida. Fall semester comes with football games, homecoming, concerts, and more. Also the downtown area is very classy. If you are looking for a way to stay fit, UF has innumerable ways, such as gyms, joining recreational club sports, etc. If you feel lost trying to find something to do, theres a club (IDEAL) that helps you find a club or volunteer work. You wont miss out on anything at UF.

Good Variety – There is a good amount of things to do in this city. The restaurant choices are great. There are many spots to appreciate nature, such as lakes and parks.

Fast Food – There is literally a fast food place on every corner. Not healthy for a student life. i really wish there were a whole foods or a grocery store that wasn't so expensive. The publix and wal-mart here are more expensive than thos in South Florida!

English Program Is Amazing – If you're an English major, make sure to take classes with Professor Kenneth Kidd, Anastasia Ulanowicz, Avraham Balaban and Laurie Gries. They are AMAZING and will challenge you. Genuinely care about students and you will so look forward to going to class.

Semi Diverse – Lots of white students but you'll see your fair share of Asians, Hispanics and blacks. Haven't noticed any sort of discrimination against minorities (at least I haven't experienced any) but I am sure it occurs in small numbers. Overall feel at home, lots of organizations geared to different interests, race, ethnicity and are not excluding types. You'll find a group to click with regardless of gender, socioeconomic status, religion, race, etc.

Apartment Prices Good! University Club apartments is amazing! I renewed my lease for my last and final year at UF. The staff get's things done, are friendly, and always make sure to make fun events for the community. Maintenance and parking are great. Price is 464 with utilities included. You do have to pay overages but mine is usually 24 dollars, even on hot summer months. Completely doable in my opinion. There are three different bus routes: the 9, 35, and the 36. Campus is only ten minutes away! We are far away yet close enough to Archer Road (main road here in Gville) were you'll find shopping centers, places to eat, and a movie theater. Best of all, you get your own private bedroom with a private bath and you have the option to lease it furnished or unfurnished. Overall awesome experience!

Dining Off Campus – I've lived in Gainesville since I was 6 and have been to many of the restaurants. Midtown has tons of places to eat and many places do offer student discounts as well. If you venture further off campus you can find delicious town favorites like Satchels or Las Margaritas.

Friendliest College – UF is one of the most friendly campuses I have ever been on. Everyone is very nice and helpful. Game days are the best because you can make new friends out of complete strangers, just because you are both gator fans

Gainesville is a college town, so much of the town life is centered around the college. The bus transportation system is pretty reliable and can get you to where you need to go. You can always go to the Harn art museum or the Florida natural history museum. All in all there is good food and a friendly environment in Gainesville and everyone is a Gator :)

Hard to Park – it's really hard to find parking. you buy a parking permit for about $144 and it doesn't guarantee you'll have a parking spot. it's better if you don't have a car on campus and to use the buses.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
