Gainesville: the Dining Hot Spot – There are, literally, over 100 places to eat near and on campus, plus a lot of restaurants deliver! Being a college student, you probably get tired of eating pizza when you're too lazy to leave your dorm - but at UF, you are able to get a variety of food, such as subs, salad, wraps, burritos, and smoothies, delivered straight to your dorm. Also, UF understands the tight budget of every college students, so there are many readily available coupon books for nearby restaurants.

There are so many facilities at UF. A gigantic new gym was just built relatively close to campus. This gym is great because beyond there being so many cardio and weight machines, there is a full sized basketball court, plus a track circling the second floor. Also in the student union, there are bowling alleys and many pool tables, so you're never left with nothing to do.

Always Something Going on – If you want to go out, there's always something going on. Midtown has both 18+ and 21+ bars. Downtown is more of the clubbing scene. Certain nights of the week are better for going to midtown/downtown. Greek life is big on campus. If you live on campus, you can walk or SNAP(free UF transportation service) to midtown or fraternity row. Everything is reletively close.

The drug and alcohol policy is very strict at UF, especially in the dorms. Not even tobacco is allowed on campus anymore.

Parking sucks. They ticket like mad and there is hardly any parking available even if you have a decal. After parking is lifted in the evenings, parking sucks because everyone tries to park at the library at the time.

Decent, Somewhat Pricey – If you wanna live within walking distance from campus, expect to pay. There are places for cheaper, but they aren't that nice. Further away from campus, you can get cheap, nice housing, but you have to expect to take way more time getting to campus. The busses, however, are very helpful if you do that.

They nightlife is very prevalent at the University of Florida. In 2008, it was ranked the number one party school. Since that ranking, the ability to drink underage has decreased drastically. The best place to hangout would have to be midtown. Downtown is all clubs and dancing. If that's your nightly scene then go for it. If you are looking for somewhere more casual and can just enjoy the company of friends, then midtown is highly recommended.

If you are going to enter the Greek system, you can be assure of one thing: you will surrounded by a crowd of peers most like you. If you are in a Panhellenic Chapter or Inter-Fraternity Counsel, it will be all upper class peers. If you join a multicultural chapter, you will be selected into the chapter that is representative of you.

The bond that every Gator shares is tangible on any game day. The Gator Nation is proud of their sports. On a gameday you can walk up to anyone and say "Go Gators" and you will be guaranteed a positive response. My favorite memories of the University of Florida come from gameday because there is nothing like it.

Living on campus has many great advantages due to the programs that are put in place for the students and the endless possibilities to make friends and socialize.

Dorm Group Studies – They have put forth a program in the residence areas where students that are taking the same classes are paired up to work together in groups.

Inside Scoop – UF offers anything and everything to students. It is incredibly diverse and students are truly devoted to their study. Pre-med students are highly competitive but knowledgeable. Many volunteer and work opportunities are available. As well as many clubs to participate in. If you find yourself studying too hard, go to Gator Nights, every Friday night there is an opportunity to do fun things for free; movie, food, arts and crafts, games.

GO GATORS! UF is known for its' athletics. Half of a major dining hall is devoted to school athletes. Homecoming at UF is the biggest in the United States, lasting for an entire month! Famous singers and comedians come to the school at that time. Nothing here is greater than school spirit!!! Statistically, UF students are rated higher in student happiness and satisfaction. IT'S GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR!!!!

Incredible and overwhelming diverse campus in every sense of the word: Politically, ethnically, economically, socially, religiously, sexually. My first semester I roomed with a wonderful, well-rounded student from Ethiopia and my suite mates were Muslim. One of things that attracted me the most to this school was the diversity. One of my TAs was from Spain and many of my friends were of different ethnicities. The Hub is the main hang out area on campus, where many different groups and clubs on campus do their flyering. There are also many people that do not attend the school who speak publically about many different controversial issues. Everything about the campus is diverse but in a friendly, inviting, and safe environment.

You better always carry an umbrella with you. It's bound to rain randomly!!!!! Other than that, it's beautiful!!!

If you're not Greek, expect ridicule from all those who are. You'll get called a G.D.I. (goddamn independent)....and you better never wear cargo shorts!!!! It's an even bigger deal if you're a guy. Don't expect to get any attractive or decently nice girls if you're not Greek either (unless you're a D1 athlete). Even if you are an athlete, Greek life will enhance your social status even more. Don't get me wrong, not all fraternities will ridicule you. In general, I highly recommend anyone who attends UF to join a fraternity or sorority if you want to have fun in college.

There are a plethora of different recreational and sports facilites. There is one huge gym with 6 sand volleyaball courts, 6 multi-purpose baskteball courts, a huge weightlifting room (there is another one on campus as well), an indoor track, personal training rooms for different classes (yoga, spinning, etc.), countless fields, 4 softball fields, tennis courts, and raquetball courts. There is also a smaller student fitness center with squash courts, more raquetball courts and another basketball court. In addition there are 3 pools around campus plus an entire park off campus--Lake Wauburg--dedicated to students at UF. All around great fitness and recreation facilitie!

It's Amazing Here! The University of Florida is a fantastic school. The professors are intelligent and the work load is not bad. And the best part of UF is the Graham Center for Public Service. The center hosts amazing speakers and events! If you are looking for a university where you can socialize and work, this is the place.

I Don't Party – From what my friends have said there are a lot of parties around here. And they say the clubs are nice. I'm not a party person so I would not know, which is why I'm supplying the answer N/A. My advice would be to skip the parties and study hard.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
