Health & Safety:
One Safe Campus – I have never heard a complaint about the UF campus being unsafe. The numbers for Campus Security and SNAP (Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol, a service that will escort students to their destination free of charge) are posted in a lot of places and most of campus is pretty well lit.

UF is great in the sense that it's difficult to be bored. It's not only located in downtown Gainesville, it IS downtown Gainesville. The campus is large enough to essentially be its own community populated by on-campus students. The nightlife is terrific; if you're Greek you'll find a party and if you aren't there are clubs scattered around the downtown within a short distance. The UF campus and location are hands down top 10 in the nation for student life.

Strictness.. What Strictness? Other than the fact that a person gets a speeding ticket going 1 mph above the speed limit or the occasional get pulled over while riding a bike from not having the proper lights or not stopping at a stop sign, our campus isnt terribly strict. We have frat parties on campus all the time and they never get broken up, & midtown is the most fun place to go which is practically on campus.
I would definitely say that UF is lenient on campus, thankfully!

School Spirit – I'm in an international club that socializes with many of the students studying abroad and they have all expressed that the amount of school spirit here is just so much greater than they have ever seen. People wear Gator gear daily, the campus is always painted with orange and blue from all the students clothing. The majority of the students here have tons of school spirit and highly value Gator Sports. Thats definitely one of the many high lights of going to UF

I love going to the libraries honestly (kind of strange i know). But when I go to the library I always see lots of people I know because the library, although a place for hard studying, is also a peaceful place on campus to go which is why they are so popular. We have several above average libraries scattered around the campus making it easily accessible from any part of campus. They provide many computers which is convenient and loads of comfortable seating placed nicely in front of windows so I personally never feel trapped inside.

Not Too Difficult – I did not have any personal issues with financial aid, although I am in general confused about my federal loans and how to pay them back, and when. I have heard complaints about long waits, especially in the beginning of the semester, but I expect that would be normal.

Hot Hot Hot – UF is absolutely scorching and humid when school starts in August, but it cools down mid-November. Its January now and the average is now about 60 degrees. The coldest it has ever been was 30 degrees one night in December. I love the sun though, so I am looking forward to it heating up again. UF is a large campus where walking around is necessary, but there is frequent bus service and many bike lanes.

Lots of Variety, Plus a Vegan Friendly Area! There are three main areas of Gainesville to eat: Archer Road and 34th Street have almost every chain restaurant that I am aware of, from Subway to Waffle House to Bonefish.
Midtown (University Ave) has a lot of places to grab a quick bite, and some extra hunting will reward you with my favorite G-ville secret, Burrito Brothers - must try the guacamole! Also Karma Cream, a completely vegan sweets shop.
Downtown Gainesville is actually pretty cute and has an excellent steakhouse, the BEST sushi spot (The Dragonfly), and an impeccable Italian restaurant called Amelia's. Downtown is a bit pricier than the rest of Gainesville, but it is tasty. There is also a myriad of coffee shops and yummy Mochi frozen yogurt.
If you explore the outskirts of Gainesville you MUST eat at Satchell's Pizza. Incredible atmosphere and excellent pizza.
I am not a vegan, but there are so many options for vegan eaters everywhere I go, as well as almost every type of cuisine.

You can still have a good time and drink without being punished to awful bad. Just be smart about it. Don't drive, don't drink underage with an open cup and you probably won't get in any trouble.

Alcohol is very prominent. There's a lot of alcohol at parties but no one forces you to drink it and you can still have a good time, even at night without it. Drugs, I have never been involved in. They seem easy enough to have access to, but I have never been pressured and maybe offered to smoke twice. No one judges you either way.

Greek Life is there and people involved in Greeks show it and are proud of it but don't let it get in the way of other things such as school. The night life is what the Greeks are famous for, and the frat parties, etc, but you don't need to be Greek to go to one.

Classes Provide for Best Learning Experience – I've seen tests and quizzes from other colleges and they are nothing like the ones at UF. If you want to succeed here you need to really prepare, which sets us apart from all other schools in Florida.

Buses Are Amazing – Every 9 minutes a bus arrives at just about every bus stop on campus. They take you off and on campus and its all free.

Guys & Girls:
Girls Are Hot. I would say 65% of the girls at UF are date-able. You just have to look outside of your calculus 3 class.

Totally Diverse – At the University of Florida there is a variety of students and faculty, from different backgrounds, political beliefs, religion and sexual orientation.

Too Many Tickets – I think UF prides itself on how many parking tickets it can give out during a semester. My roommate received too parking tickets in two days for the same violation and received tickets from cars he didn't even own. There are a ton of spaces available but there are even more students so parking is very tight, especially on weekends.

Health & Safety:
Extremely Safe – I have never felt unsafe at the University of Florida. Special security measures are under effect, for example in case of an emergency all the students (who have signed up) will recieve a text message.
College Senior 2011-01-24T22:23:28Z
Very Diverse – I have yet to have a white american teaching assistant. They are all from different countries. Mostly of Asian descent. I find this better for the learning environment.
College Senior 2011-01-24T22:19:56Z
Everything Is Very Close – No matter where you go on or off campus, everything you need is within a ten mile radius. We have two publix's, a fresh market, mall, movie theater, and too many restaurants to count. The three sports and rec centers UF offers are amazing. You never run out of things to do at UF.
College Senior 2011-01-24T20:41:54Z
Sporting events get a lot of attention. For Football, Basketball, and even gymnastics you will get a crowd. Everyone at this school is proud to be a gator and shows their gator spirit at all different sporting events. Also, there are intramural sports of different levels available to all students and there are 3 rec centers on campus that are constantly being updated.

You can find some pretty affordable stuff close to campus but then the nicest stuff close to campus is very expensive. Inexpensive apartments tend to be very far and not in the best of neighborhoods.

These libraries are amazing! They have friendly staff that's super accomodating. There place for quiet study, group study, meeting rooms and even a Starbucks.

UF has turned Gainesville into a party town. Weekends here never go unnoticed and most kids are at the multiple clubs that surround campus

They have designed food plans dining options but my favorite is Panda Express, Subway, and Croutons!!

I love the atmosphere but I honestly believe I did more work in High school. Teachers have become very lazy and anyone can "get by". Being in a college town is great though!!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
