The biggest problem is when it rains. The campus is large and trying to get from one building to another can be a hassle, there are buses that can help with that though.

There are so many off campus housing options. There are 1/1's, 2/2's, 3/3's, and 4/4's available.
The location of the apartment complex you choose is going to depend on what stores and restaurants are available, however regardless there are countless options.
Living off- campus is cheaper than living on campus and buses are always running so if you do not have a car and need to get to campus it is not a problem.

The dining halls are good, but sometimes you just get use to the food that they serve. There is a variety of options on campus to get good food as well as multiple places right next to campus to get food.

At the University of Florida, Student Government has made it possible to keep Library West open for 24 hours which is really convenient for pulling all nighters.
The gyms on campus are awesome. South West Rec is open early in the morning and late into the night making it easy to work out!

During the winter, the weather is great! It is nice and cool outside, but the summers are an awful, humid mess.

If you are accepted in the honors program, you must live in Hume your freshman (and possibly sophmore) year. It is by far the best dorm on campus.

If I could do it all over again, I might have started in the higher level English classes sooner. I was told it was important to work my way up, but honestly the 3000-4000 level classes tend to have real professors and aren't that much harder. While some professors can be infuriating, you can at the very least respect that they know their subject.

English at UF is what you would expect. Reading can be a bit much at times, but for the most part you can be prepared through sparknotes. I tend to have two to four papers in each class, either two double spaced 10 page papers or 3-4 double spaced 4-5 page papers. Expect daily quizzes on your reading, but if you find a class that doesn't do that, jump on it. The class will be a nice break.

Getting into the English major was really easy. Getting into the university is the hard part. You just have to speak to the Liberal Arts and Sciences department and ask an adviser to make your major English. I declared it my second semester and there were no hoops to jump through.

UF has a great campus and local transportation system. Every night a student-run organization drives students all night to and from campus.

I hear about drug use but have never witnessed it. Alcohol is big around campus and is pretty relevant.

Horrible. I doing worst than planned living on campus. It's expensive, staff members (Resident Assistants and Graduate Hall Directors) are mostly rude and talked bad about residents, and you are stuck on campus for the entire year and can't leave even you are on the verge of eviction.

Guys & Girls:
Varies from person to person. I feel like those who are in fraternities and sororities can be pretty rude sometimes.

Very beautiful campus on the outside

Some things are decent and then some could use renovations

There is a lot of cultural diversity here- but I sometimes feel like the majority of the school is white frat guys.

In short parking sucks. The price of a voucher is insane and it's temporary. Also there is not many parking spots to go with anyway.

Guys & Girls:
The girls are pretty nerdy but that doesn't mean they aren't fun to hang with. The cool thing about UF girls is that a lot of them workout and they have some nice bodies. At night Gainesville is a party city so most girls go out and drink with friends or if not they spend the night studying. Also girls like to wear yoga pants for some strange reason.

Sports at UF are taken very seriously. Football is the most supported sport as far as student involvement, fan support, school spirit and athletic facilities are concerned. The home UF football games really bring the city of Gainesville to life. A UF home game is definitely a special experience to all who may come.

The UF campus is large and there is a lot of walking involved in your academic and social life. Unfortunately, in the early fall and late spring, or if you're attending over the summer, the heat and humidity can become unbearable. There aren't really seasons in Gainesville and being in the middle of the state there isn't a lot of wind to help cool. As with the rest of Florida, thunderstorms are a part of life and you should always be prepared for sun or rain.
College Junior 2013-10-12T17:01:15Z
Health & Safety:
There is a fair amount of crime on campus, but we are alerted when any occurs via text message and e-mail. I've never lived on campus, but I know that most people move off as soon as possible, whether that's a choice due to safety or lifestyle probably depends on the person.
College Senior 2013-10-10T20:02:28Z
The old collegiate look is nice, but it feels very dingy in places. The "green spaces" are mostly grass and weeds, and computers on campus look like they have not been cleaned in 10 years.
College Senior 2013-10-10T20:00:40Z
Summers are the hottest, most humid and stagnant in the whole state. Then it becomes more mild in fall and spring, but with wide temperature fluctuations over the course of day (e.g. need a sweatshirt in the morning, then can't wear it in the afternoon and sweat while walking between classes). Winter can get very cold (by Florida standards).
College Senior 2013-10-10T19:57:17Z
There is a supposed "strict" honor code in place, and it is enforced strictly in some classes and contexts, but not others. Some online classes have webcam proctored exams, and some have no regulations at all. A major source of cheating are the groups of people I have seen in science classes who share all their materials, especially lab materials and old exams, with their friends after them.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
