Frat Parties Are the Best! The greek life at UF is large every other person you meet is a part of greek life or is thinking of pledging. The more greek events you attend, the more people you meet. If it's not a greek party you don't expect much.

Living on campus at UF makes it easier to access on-campus facilities and socialize but other than that being in a freshman dorm is overall not that great. The lowest costing dorms leave you with no privacy, living in a room with 1 to two other people in a closed space and using a bathroom designated for the whole hall. You have to deal with people's filth including hair being left in drains, and overflowing trash cans. Although, janitors clean the bathrooms daily during the week people still manage to create messes by not cleaning up after themselves. Living on campus does allow you more places to park on campus. But otherwise the cheapest rate for living in a dorm room is a triple-student dorm room is still for expensive than alot of the other offers outside of campus.

The libraries at UF are awesome, you are likely to find whatever book you can think of, and also textbooks for your classes. They also allow a lot of study rooms and study space along with the ease of availability of computers.

Fraternities and Sororities – The Greek life is very important to UF. There are many options for any student to find a suitable fraternity or sorority to join. The greek housing is very nice as well especially its proximity to campus. Greek life provides a great social network for anyone involved. It is a great way to meet people as well as make good acquaintances for later occupations. The greek students are viewed no differently than any other student.

Best College Town – The University of Florida is located in Gainesville Florida. If you are a student looking for a good time as well as a great college to learn and experience then UF is the place to be. This city is small so basically the town is centered around the school, students, and sports. The best attraction for the University of Florida is the Swamp. It is the home of the Florida Gators football team which is always one of the best teams in the nation. Game days provide tons of fun for everyone. The campus of the school is also quite remarkable. It has maintained its beauty since it was created. This college is centered around the students so everyone can find a place to fit in whether it be sports, clubs, or greek life. You can always find something to do at UF no matter what time it is which makes it one of the best places to live as a young adult.

Hmm Let Me Think – 50,000 students, cheap, get in and get out. nothing special. 47th in the nation ranking if you care about that.

I Dont Know – people do drugs everywhere, if you seek out drugs you will find them.

It Is There – there are houses to be rented and cheap apartments starting at $350 a month. Much cheaper than on campus which is a waste of money and the dorms are like prisons, very unwelcoming.

Good Focus on Academics – There is a strong focus on academics at the University of Florida. There is always a place to study at whatever time of day or night you choose. There are constant improvements throughout the year to help students get through college. People, students and faculty alike, are helpful for the most part whether you know them or not. Football games shows the Gator spirit that is present within the school and that persists throughout the year.

Buses Are Everywhere – Transportation cost is included in tuition and it is well deserved. Buses are everywhere and go everywhere. They come every 6-10 minutes and there are multiple buses for each route. They run into late at night too and on weekends. It is possible to live off campus and not have a car.

Parking can be a headache at times and others it can be simple. Just depends on the time but mostly you have to search for a parking spot for at least 5 minutes

UF is located in Northern Florida, so the tropical Florida weather is abundant. The days are warm and sunny. Also, because UF is far from the coastal areas, there aren't as many showers as there is in Miami. It does get pretty hot, though (it IS Florida after all), but I would rather have a little heat that snow. You only basically need casual clothing in Florida!

The University of Florida is in a small college city where the majority of residents are students. Since most students had to travel from long distances to UF, the diversity is vast. UF also prides itself in its 900+ sudent organizations that span from nationality-specific clubs to video gaming assocations. No matter what niche you fall under, UF offers a community for you!

Help and Extensive Website – The University of Florida has an extensive website designed to help students with all their academic needs. The website is backed up by large student-operated academic departments on campus and they do everything they can to get you where you need. Although the website is amazing, the community college I can had a slightly more modern registration system online, that's the only reason I refrain from giving them a full blown A+.

i give this a B, because there really aren't any obvious rules that are enforced. I don't know anyone who has been spoken to about the rules.

The campus cafeteria is fantastic with it's options, but the dining halls (designed for meal plans) are extremely unhealthy. You either eat a mound of overpriced grease and fat or eat a wilted salad.
The fresh fruits and vegetables are far from fresh--you can easily see that they have been refrigerated for several days and see some of the shelf fruit, such as oranges, are completely moldy.

Health & Safety:
Campus Safety – There are consist and common crimes occurring across the campus. Close to where I live, there are repeated armed and unarmed robberies. This concerns me because I have to pass this area at night in order to get home. There are emergency phones slightly available around the campus, but this does not help if you're being held at gunpoint. Also, I don't believe I have EVER seen a security guard.

School Spirit Is HUGE! The school spirit here is insane! People go nuts over the majority of sports, especially football Saturdays. It's a great way to spend the day with friends.

Guys & Girls:
Too Diverse to Describe! There's no possible way I can describe a "typical student". The school is so massive that there are people to fill literally every single niche one can imagine. Be yourself - no matter who you are, you'll find a community just right for you at UF!

There's plenty of spots for students to use computers on campus - there's hundreds in the libraries, and two printing areas that anyone can use. There's also wireless internet all over campus (really fast!) that you can connect to with your laptop.

Too Few – Because the school locates suburb, not too many restaurants here. Therefore, if we students want to find variety restaurants, it's hard for us.

GATORS RULE – Our school is definitely supportive of our variety of sports' teams. Sometimes too much...they seem to put more focus on sports than academics at times, which I don't always like. However, I do enjoy the energy and school pride on campus.

Variance in Ethnic Backgrounds – I see a lot of people from different races on campus, mainly whites, hispanics, and asians, very few blacks. It is nice to meet people from a variety of backgrounds and countries so that I can learn about different cultures, customs, and FOODS! :) I'd say UF has a diverse campus.

Convenient but Needs Improvement – There are several different options for eating around campus. However, most dining halls do not stay open very late (closing on Friday nights at 9 pm), there are cockroaches crawling around the milk machines and salad bar, the menus are often repetitive, and the meal plan is too expensive for the quality of the food served. On the positive note, the dining halls are in convenient locations, so I don't have to walk far to get a meal. It is nice to not have to worry about cooking a meal when time is of the essence. I would not recommend getting a meal plan after freshman year.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
