GATORS RULE – Our school is definitely supportive of our variety of sports' teams. Sometimes too much...they seem to put more focus on sports than academics at times, which I don't always like. However, I do enjoy the energy and school pride on campus.

Variance in Ethnic Backgrounds – I see a lot of people from different races on campus, mainly whites, hispanics, and asians, very few blacks. It is nice to meet people from a variety of backgrounds and countries so that I can learn about different cultures, customs, and FOODS! :) I'd say UF has a diverse campus.

Convenient but Needs Improvement – There are several different options for eating around campus. However, most dining halls do not stay open very late (closing on Friday nights at 9 pm), there are cockroaches crawling around the milk machines and salad bar, the menus are often repetitive, and the meal plan is too expensive for the quality of the food served. On the positive note, the dining halls are in convenient locations, so I don't have to walk far to get a meal. It is nice to not have to worry about cooking a meal when time is of the essence. I would not recommend getting a meal plan after freshman year.

UF is located in a beautiful city with the most unique places, it even has beautiful reserved parks to bike over and eat lunch.

There is a lot of nightlife here, all of it is college age friendly. Parties go on all the time especially in the fall when it is football season. This University is highly social.

Off Campus housing offers something for everyone, and is everywhere around campus. Off campus housing is the best choice when attending UF. Cost ranges from 300-1000 per month.

Our campus is very computer friendly. Wireless access and speed is great and so is the accessibility to computers around campus.

You will get sucked into the contagious Gator spirit. Everyone is so proud to be a Gator no matter who they were previously a fan of, and it is very unifying. I would never change my decision if I went back in time. Classes are tough, but when you succeed you feel great because you know that you're at an awesome school.

Greek Participation or Avoidance – Greek life is there for parties and some other events, but it doesn't dominate at UF. It's not a big deal if you are in a frat or sorority, and it is not a big deal if you never set foot in one. It's nice because you can go to frat parties, which can be fun, but it's not a status thing.

Best and Worst Dorms – The most social dorms to live in (and in my opinion the best) are Rawlings, Jennings, and Broward, in that order.
The most luxurious are the suites: Lakeside, Springs, and Beaty Towers.
The least expensive dorm is Thomas, because it has no air conditioning. Do not live there in the summer semesters.

Go Exploring – UF is a huge place and if your not careful you can get lost in it all. Make sure you explore as many groups and opportunities as you can and make the most of your experience. UF has everything to offer, just make sure you don't let it pass you by.

Splash Zone – If coming to UF during any sort of summer months there is a very high probability that you will get rained on during the afternoon. Bring an umbrella and get ready to get wet.

Parking on campus is nearly impossible during the school year leading most to either choose bikes or scooters. The bus system gets the job done but can be unreliable late at night or on weekends when fewer are running.

Guys & Girls:
Plenty of Options – I am not sure if i have ever been to a place with more diversity than UF. I met my wife here and I'm sure you can find someone that sparks your interest. There will be attractive people anywhere you choose to go, UF not excluded. I would recommend you choose where to go not based on the sexual scenery.

You Must Go to Gainesville's Midtown – Its impossible to miss, I <3 NY pizza, pita pit (the best), designer greens, and copper monkey are among the restaurants you can choose from. Everything in town is around $6.50-$8, unless you have coupons or gator greenbacks wich i highly recommend.

I feel very blessed to be part of a college that is number five in commercialization. One of my friends is actually working on developing a flying car that runs on plasma. Most of my teachers actually care about their students. You will do well if you do the homework and go to office hours.

UPD = Nazis – Campus police are infamous for being very strict, especially about the open container policy and breaking the speed limit (20 mph everywhere on campus) - and don't even get me started on the parking rules, that will get you a $30 ticket faster than you can say "Don't taze me bro". They need to realize that statistics show there are less DUIs and alcohol/drug-related deaths on campuses that have more lenient drinking rules

Top Notch – Southwest Rec is my favorite place to work out just because of everything is has to offer - whether you're like me and use it exclusively for it's weight room, or you use it for basketball, racquetball, indoor soccer, cardio room, etc. theres really something for everyone. Even though it's location is very isolated from the rest of campus it's still a very popular place and a great place to meet people as well.

Diverse Campus – With such a huge student population, there's just about every kind of person you can imagine here. I have never experienced or noticed any kind of racial intolerance, However, the religious people in Turlington Plaza can be downright offensive at times. I find that it can be kind of clique-ish, but everyone can find their place.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
