Great Opportunities – Academics at UF are very important, so most classes are challenging. If you want to get one of the best educations, definitely come here. Every semester, they hold career fairs where some of the top companies in every field come for you to investigate, apply for a job, and maybe have an interview.
Socially, there are so many bars, restaurants and clubs within walking distance of campus that have great prices and great atmospheres. There are also hundreds of student organizations you can join for a myriad of interests, including groups for your major. Almost every night, there is a group meeting or event happened on campus that you're bound to enjoy.
Saturdays on campus in the Fall are incredibly fun, especially if we have a home football game. There are tons of tail-gates and many companies stop by to hand out free samples of their products.
You'll have tons of fun on and off campus in Gainesville, with most of the town's attractions being catered towards college students.

At the beginning of the Fall semester, the humid, hot weather will kill you. It will also rain a lot during the beginning of Fall and the end of Spring. From December until about mid-April, the weather will go through extreme cold snaps, at least for Florida. It reached 12 degrees last year. For the most part of the Spring semester, it is wonderful weather, perfect for being outside.

Although a car is not necessary for campus, it is very useful. Unfortunately, the parking on campus is a nightmare. The permit costs are incredibly expensive, especially because they oversell by a huge percentage. Most freshman take up the spots, never leaving during the week, making it almost impossible for off-campus students to find a space. The majority of spaces are for hospital and faculty parking, with the few student spaces being far away from classes. The campus police prowl campus and will most definitely catch you for illegally parking somewhere. The only times parking is okay on campus is after 4:30pm and during finals week, where parking restrictions are lifted.

Roomates from Hell – I personally appreciated campus housing because it gave me time to get used to the university as well as get involved and get to know others. The only thing I wish there was, is roomate matching. I got stuck with possibly the worst combination of roomates ever, there was minimal conversation between the 3 of us and it seems that there was always a sense of ackwardness in the room.

Love Hate Relationship – I personally love the campus dining halls, there's lots of variety and I personally never get bored of it the only problem is that it's too expensive. I can't afford a meal plan, and paying up to $9.00 per meal is a little extreme. I could only go there on rare occasions where I had money.

Great Place to Find Yourself – University of Florida has many different high quality majors and despite being tough is a great place to make friends and party too. There are tons of club and inter-mural sports and a thriving greek life. Its a great place to figure yourself out.

Buses run during the school day and then some, although some of the more popular routes can get fairly crowded. And during the later hours a student gov. run van service escorts students back to their dorms on campus.

Health & Safety:
Pretty Safe – The university has a pretty well trained police force and many security phones around campus, however there is still a level of danger as with any large college.

Alcohol Is Huge – Drugs arent extremely prominent, but there is constant drinking everywhere. On fourth of july the streets were littered with red solo cups. Almost everyone is drinking on game day, you can practically smell it in the air.

Although the greeks only comprise about 10 percent of UF students, they are disproportionally prominant. Without actually knowing the statistic you might guess 50 percent based on the amount of attention their events get. However there are so many students at UF that you could absolutely get by fine without being in one.

Large Variety – Gainesville has many great nightclubs that are fun almost every day of the week. The dining options are great; there are many interesting restaurants. Obviously Gainesville is a party school so there are many parties at apartments going on almost every day

We are really safe on campus but it is still really relaxed.

Greek Housing – There is so many greek houses at UF. I use to be a sorority girl and I still could not name all the houses. That is just social greek life, community service greek life and business greek life are not well known about

Being Able to Print – At UF as a student every semester we are give a printing allowance. This is amazing when your printer brakes now and we have somewhere we can go to be able to print with out braking the bank.

Depends Who You Talk to – The thing about UF is that anything available to anyone who actively looks for it. That being the case, if you don't involve yourself in drugs, you will rarely see any used, but if you seek it out, you will easily find it. Everyone drinks

The Best Around – We have tons of new facilities including the newly renovated Southwest Rec Center. Only problem is the size of the campus, making some facilities harder to get to.

Lots to Do, Easy to Get Around – The biggest advantage of Gainesville is that everythind revolves around the UF campus, so almost everything is within walking distance. There are plenty of fun places that one can easily bus to as well. All in all, UF has a busy atmosphere and is a lot of fun

UF is blessed to have an extremely thriving and healthy comedy scene around the campus and in the city of Gainesville. Theatre Strike Force does on-campus improv and sketch comedy, as well as Generation which specializes in sketch. University Stand-Up Comedy Club trains aspiring stand-up comedians to compete in festivals and perform around the city. Local troupes and acts are also very popular and talented.

Why Bring a Car? While they're naturally strict on drug and alcohol use, they spend an unwarranted amount of time writing parking tickets for the most minor offenses (expensive tickets, mind you). Good luck trying to appeal them, too. It's a nightmare of a process. Meanwhile, the Adu-Brempong debacle is another example of UFPD's warped priorities and unnecessary brutality.

Meh, No More, No Less – UF dining is far from BAD -- it's just more so boring. I'll admit, having a Taco Bell and Chik-Fil-A on campus is fantastic. And I'm sure the newest addition of Panda Express will add to the novelty. However, healthier, more accessible options would be ideal. The last thing we need is a Papa John's in the Reitz and Cheeburger Express is woefully overpriced. Overall, though, I can think of worse situations.

Health & Safety:
Campus Security – The ever present university police at UF is a reassuring presence. There are relatively few incidences of crime that occur on campus. I have felt safe and secure each time I am on the campus of the University of Florida.

Great Busses – the bus system runs every where and is free to all students. But on campus parking is awful, the parking passes are expensive and there are never any available spots.

There are almost too many clubs in Downtown and Midtown Gainesville. They are open to 18 years and up. There are also a wide array of bars. Almost everynight there is a club that can be entered for free. There is a late night bus that runs during the regular school year, but not during the summer, from downtown to campus.

Great Athletic Department – Of course, the UF football team is highly praised and all home games are huge events at the school. UF has multiple gym facilities, one of which is being completely redone and expanded to include an indoor track. It will be done this following fall. There are a huge variety of group fitness classes, which are all wonderful. Intramural sports are great and vary from kickball to volleyball.

Don't Not Have a Decal. As long as you have a decal you will be fine. Of course, at a larger campus a car is not the way to go. Just go on foot or use a bike.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
