Diverse Campus – With such a huge student population, there's just about every kind of person you can imagine here. I have never experienced or noticed any kind of racial intolerance, However, the religious people in Turlington Plaza can be downright offensive at times. I find that it can be kind of clique-ish, but everyone can find their place.

Pretty Nice – There are a lot of old buildings on campus that give it an old school collegiate feel, which is cool. Athletic facilities are exceptional. Perhaps the student union is a little out of date looking, but it has all the things it should. The campus is gorgeous, especially in the spring time.

Huge Classes – I've only completed my first year so far, but since I'm in a popular major (biology), my classes were pretty big (my smallest class had at least 80 people). No individual attention here, except if you go to office hours maybe. Professors expect a lot when it comes to testing.

Great Opportunities – Academics at UF are very important, so most classes are challenging. If you want to get one of the best educations, definitely come here. Every semester, they hold career fairs where some of the top companies in every field come for you to investigate, apply for a job, and maybe have an interview.
Socially, there are so many bars, restaurants and clubs within walking distance of campus that have great prices and great atmospheres. There are also hundreds of student organizations you can join for a myriad of interests, including groups for your major. Almost every night, there is a group meeting or event happened on campus that you're bound to enjoy.
Saturdays on campus in the Fall are incredibly fun, especially if we have a home football game. There are tons of tail-gates and many companies stop by to hand out free samples of their products.
You'll have tons of fun on and off campus in Gainesville, with most of the town's attractions being catered towards college students.

At the beginning of the Fall semester, the humid, hot weather will kill you. It will also rain a lot during the beginning of Fall and the end of Spring. From December until about mid-April, the weather will go through extreme cold snaps, at least for Florida. It reached 12 degrees last year. For the most part of the Spring semester, it is wonderful weather, perfect for being outside.

Although a car is not necessary for campus, it is very useful. Unfortunately, the parking on campus is a nightmare. The permit costs are incredibly expensive, especially because they oversell by a huge percentage. Most freshman take up the spots, never leaving during the week, making it almost impossible for off-campus students to find a space. The majority of spaces are for hospital and faculty parking, with the few student spaces being far away from classes. The campus police prowl campus and will most definitely catch you for illegally parking somewhere. The only times parking is okay on campus is after 4:30pm and during finals week, where parking restrictions are lifted.

Roomates from Hell – I personally appreciated campus housing because it gave me time to get used to the university as well as get involved and get to know others. The only thing I wish there was, is roomate matching. I got stuck with possibly the worst combination of roomates ever, there was minimal conversation between the 3 of us and it seems that there was always a sense of ackwardness in the room.

Love Hate Relationship – I personally love the campus dining halls, there's lots of variety and I personally never get bored of it the only problem is that it's too expensive. I can't afford a meal plan, and paying up to $9.00 per meal is a little extreme. I could only go there on rare occasions where I had money.

Buses run during the school day and then some, although some of the more popular routes can get fairly crowded. And during the later hours a student gov. run van service escorts students back to their dorms on campus.

Health & Safety:
Pretty Safe – The university has a pretty well trained police force and many security phones around campus, however there is still a level of danger as with any large college.

Alcohol Is Huge – Drugs arent extremely prominent, but there is constant drinking everywhere. On fourth of july the streets were littered with red solo cups. Almost everyone is drinking on game day, you can practically smell it in the air.

Although the greeks only comprise about 10 percent of UF students, they are disproportionally prominant. Without actually knowing the statistic you might guess 50 percent based on the amount of attention their events get. However there are so many students at UF that you could absolutely get by fine without being in one.

Large Variety – Gainesville has many great nightclubs that are fun almost every day of the week. The dining options are great; there are many interesting restaurants. Obviously Gainesville is a party school so there are many parties at apartments going on almost every day

Greek Housing – There is so many greek houses at UF. I use to be a sorority girl and I still could not name all the houses. That is just social greek life, community service greek life and business greek life are not well known about

Being Able to Print – At UF as a student every semester we are give a printing allowance. This is amazing when your printer brakes now and we have somewhere we can go to be able to print with out braking the bank.

Depends Who You Talk to – The thing about UF is that anything available to anyone who actively looks for it. That being the case, if you don't involve yourself in drugs, you will rarely see any used, but if you seek it out, you will easily find it. Everyone drinks

The Best Around – We have tons of new facilities including the newly renovated Southwest Rec Center. Only problem is the size of the campus, making some facilities harder to get to.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
