There are lots of places around campus and even a little further for very reasonable prices many come furnished. Even if you live a little further from the school the bus system is amazing and is the easiest way to get to school especially with the lack of parking.

There are lots of small hole in the wall restaurants surrounding the college within walking distance of most dorms. Especially down University and every Gator must check out Leonardo's Pizza, it's tradition.

Drinking and Drugs – UF is a huge party school, and most people here are happy about it. There is lots of drinking, there are always house parties, and the Greek scene revolves around partying. But, people that don't want to get involved with it can easily choose not to, and find like-minded friends. People work hard to play hard.

On-Campus Life – Your freshman year, a dorm is the place to be living. People are constantly hanging out and doing things, and people are really friendly. The area organizations always plan random events. Every dorm varies in terms of how nice/new it is. After freshman year, people tend to move off-campus.

Going Out in Gainesville – Gainesville is a true college town, which is part of what makes it so fun to be a student here! There are 2 big areas: midtown and downtown, with lots of bars, restaurants and clubs. If you want to just get a drink with a friend, or really go out and party, there is a place to go any night of the week.

The University of Florida takes their sports very seriously. Most students are involved in intramurals or club teams. Games and events are widely broadcasted and made available for students to attend.

Health & Safety:
Pretty Safe – The University of Florida is a safe campus. There are blue lights and campus police around 24/7. There have been some instances of being harassed at night, so always travel with someone else

Not Really the Typical Brainless Party School – UF may have gotten the #1 party school rep, but the students still maintain a high gpa and keep up with their studies. Drinking is much more popular especially during football season. Drugs are not that common.

Not Necessary to Make Friends – Greek life is great. The parties, the social events, the networking. However, joining a fraternity or sorority is not necessary to make friends. UF is such a large university that meeting people is not difficult. Greek life is great for the first two years, but I believe that the last two years of college, it begins to become boring and "annoying." I know many people who are Greek who become inactive after their first two years because its too expensive or they grow out of it.

College Town – Gainesville is a wondeful town for any 18-22 year old student. Its a great town to get to know people and everyone is very socialable. One quickly gets to know each other because school spirit is everywhere! Its a great place to move to right out of high school for a newly "on your own" young adult.

Driving Is Not Worth It – Parking on campus is terrible. There are far too few spaces, and most student parking is far from many classes. The UF police department writes tickets for minor problems like parking with one tire on the line. It is best to avoid driving and parking on-campus.

Pros and Cons to Living on-Campus – Living on-campus is very convenient because it allows you to be close to lots of friends and events at all times. There is always something to do or somewhere to go. However, on-campus living is not the most cost-efficient option. It actually costs alot more to live in a dorm than it does to live in many off-campus locations.

Off Real – The campus life is boring if you dont have a car to go al least to the mall, because if the only thing that they call fun is to go our and drink. And if you dont drink is boring.

The only thing is that is so expensive to get to the dining and they dont have a varity of food. And if you get food it gets really cold after a while.

No Regrets – The overall experience here is awesome. I applied early decision, was accepted and never looked back. The University of Florida has academic programs that are arguably among the best in Florida. The sports atmosphere is amazing despite not being close to any professional team arenas. The bars/clubs are always having specials so it's not too expensive depending on where you go and a few places are 18+. The bars vary in atmospheres so anybody can find a favorite.

Great Food – There are plenty of great places to eat in Gainesville. Gyros Plus, Bagels Unlimited and The Top are among my favorites. The Pizza places are excellent, especially Satchels(sometimes theres a long wait but it is worth every minute). There are also many great sushi restaurants like Dragonfly or Tatu. The usual suspects like Outback, Applebees, Chilis and fast food places are all here as well. Regardless of your preferences your bound to find somewhere that you love. The prices vary depending on where you go obviously.

Political Science Majors – I'm a political science major at the University of Florida. The classes are challenging but the professors are helpful and intelligent. The graduate students that instruct courses are knowledgeable and usually are easy on grading. The requirements for the major allow the student to focus on the aspects of politics that interest them while also exploring other academic areas.

On days when it rains its difficult for me to force myself to go to class because my classes are very spread out. Luckily it doesn't rain often when I have my classes in the morning

Pugh Hall – The facilities at the University of Florida are top quality. A hidden place I love to study at is Pugh Hall. Classes are conducted there but there is also nice couch areas up the stairs which are quiet for me to study.

Guys & Girls:
People Are Similar Yet Diverse – People are goal-oriented and all want an education, so most students share the same values of wanting a higher education. However, every student is different and is going for a different degree in a field of study.

Gulf Coast Community College – Plenty of computers on campus, but Wi-fi users have weak signal strength.

Diverse and Fun – Almost any ethnicity you can think of is at UF. Many race-specific clubs and activities for those who wish to interact with people of the same race.

Expensive but Worth It – On campus living is convenient, but pricey. Definitely worth doing as a freshman. I would suggest Broward.
