The athletic experience at the University of Florida is truly none like any other. There is a great deal of fan support, school spirit and athletic facilities. Everyone is constantly in gator apparel and always talking about how great it is to be a Florida Gator. Game day experiences are beyond what most folks imagine; you truly have to see it to believe it.

Campus Life – I only lived on campus for about 6 weeks and I stayed in Lakeside. It was apartment style and quite spacious. Everything was pretty convenient despite the fact that those particular dorms were the farthest from campus. The bus systems were always in route and maintenance was always superb. The housing process was very easy and the social atmosphere was great because the dorms always had events going on.

When you have as many people at your school, your going to find out how different everyone is. The beauty of seeing all these different races and religions together is to see everyone get along and see we all want the BEST for our future.

If you need any information the UF library is the place to be! It's amazing in there and you could never go wrong to take time and study there.

The academic programs are really superior here. I transferred from USF because they didn't have the major I wanted (Japanese). The programs here are amazing, the campus is beautiful, and the students are diverse. The facilities are also great, I believe we have 7 or so libraries on campus, so you can always find one that isn't too crowded (even during exams). My only complaint is not starting here as a freshman!

Great Atmosphere – I am a transfer student from USF and this is my first semester here (and in Gainesville). I've been busy adjusting to the new city and living away from home, so I haven't gotten very involved on campus yet. But there are so many clubs and organizations to choose from, and the atmosphere on campus is amazing. I will definitely get more involved next semester. I am blown away by the variety of courses that UF offers! You can even find interesting gen eds.

Team Performance – As many people know, the University of Florida has amazing athletic performance and also a plethora of sports teams. For instance, there is a new girl's lacrosse team adding to the many sports on campus this year.

Guys & Girls:
Typical Student – There is really much diversity in the student population at UF so it is hard to pinpoint an "average student"

There is many different places to eat on campus and if you aren't in the mood for any of them then there are great place within walking distance of campus.

Thank God for Later Gators – Take the RTS buses. Once you get used to them you will never want a car again. No buses to Gainesville airport however but there are frequent buses to Orlando/Miami etc. and shuttles come to go to airports in Orlando Airport but they're a bit pricey

Drugs... Meh – The drug scene at UF isn't out of control. If you want to find something, you will find it but if you're not paying attention you won't know anything's going on. Hardest stuff I've ever known people to take is weed.

I Can't Believe I Found a Spare Second to Write This Review – Everything in Gainesville is catered to college students. If you see old people or kids walking about you it's weird. The restaurants, the clubs, the sports facilities are all primarily for student's use. It's awesome. With all of the stuff that the university has to offer though, you don't have to go out of campus for much of anything except groceries and club nightlife. The restaurants are great and affordable too. There's also a lot of nature reserves like Payne's Prarie and some natural springs to go tubing in. Lake Wauberg is also very popular for water sports and relaxation outdoors.

Really Nice – hot and sunny, then cold, brief rainy period. doesn't disrupt life

on campus apartments are expensive but you can always find deals. houses are cheap and cute, but sometimes old

University Dr – University street has all the food you could want. The Mellow Mushroom is the best pizza place on teh road and has great prices.

Popular Dorms Are in Need of Serious Renovation – Dorms which are popular among undergraduates, especially freshman, are convenient but are old and falling apart with poor lighting and no central air.

There Is Always an Event on Campus. Everywhere you go on campus you can see flyers for an event, such as a free concert or a guest speaker. Many concerts have been thrown by the student government, and there are free movie showings and club performances throughout the year. There's never a lack of action.

Although there isn't much parking available on campus, those who live off campus can usually park at a park and ride lot. What this means is that they park at the edge of campus, and take the buses to class. Also, most off campus housing have bus stops that go straight to campus.

This Is a College Town Where Everyone Has School Pride. During football season, the entire city is dressed in orange and blue to cheer the team on. Everyone is so proud of the school, including the locals. It's nice to have such a strong pride for the school and on game-days you know you're a part of a great school.

Buses Are Rather Reliable. The bus system is usually very efficient and reliable for on-campus travel.

Very Expensive for What You Get – The prices for housing in Gainesville are ridiculous. The amount of rent paid in Gainesville would get you twice the square footage almost any where else. There are more than enough places to choose from though. The housing near campus is expensive and of low quality, but the close proximity is what you are paying for.
Recent Alumnus 2010-04-06T16:11:52Z
Not the Best Dorms – The dorms on campus are all pretty old and have not been updated recently, the dorms further away from the main buildings are nicer but still not very homey at all.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
