The dorms are not bad at all. Although they are not as modern and updated, they are spacious and have great community and networking options. They are also convenient distance from classes.

Over Crowded – Parking is pretty bad on campus. There are various parking lots but not enough of them. Because of this it is a hassle on game days of major sports or even big events on campus. Although parking restrictions are lifted on weekends, there is still a lot of students and alumni ready to tailgate. This leaves the spaces to a minimum on atleast saturday

Night life in gainesville is pretty great. Everyone has an opportunity to go to various types of clubs depending on your interests. I would definitely recommend.

The more you put in, the more you'll get out. If you do nothing, you'll find that the teachers are jerks, the exams are pointless, and you're entire academic experience will be mostly a waste of time. Invest time in office hours, become friends with the TA's, and everything will be better. You will understand the material, which will give you friends since everyone will want to be your study partner, you'll get great grades since the graders will know you, and most of all, you will actually enjoy your academic life.

To keep it short and sweet, you're probably better off just catching the bus. Otherwise, either buy a commuter decal and catch the bus from the commuter lot parking, or get to the Reitz parking garage at 8 am to find a spot. Another option is for you to have a friend sit in your car while you go to class because if you drive your car to campus in the middle of a regular weekday during Fall or Spring, the only available spots will be tow-away zones. so watch out! they WILL give you tickets!!

The rules here are strict but there's nothing to make your life miserable. I had all the fun I wanted to have because I was reasonable. You can't hate all the rules because the truth is, some people do need to be protected because they don't know how to control themselves. So don't worry. You are free to drink and have fun and do whatever you want to do, as long as you don't overdo yourself and publicize your actions to the wrong people.

Finding scholarships offered by the school is difficult. You really have to be the best (academically) or have to demonstrate financial need to get any money from UF, which are both difficult.

There are many different cultural and religious organizations on campus, which allows any student to really fit in. I have never felt that there is any discrimination or any prejudice toward a certain group.

There are many styles of dorms to choose from and they're all in different areas of campus. There are good options for both underclassmen and upperclassmen and there aren't any limitations as to who can live on campus. Each dorm has their own "clubhouse" where weekly events are held as a way to attract the residents and for them to mingle with others and meet their dorm-mates.

We are in the top in a lot of our majors. Many of the professors are nationally known and/or have had their work published.

Some places are great and some places just need to be leveled and re-built; it just depends where you look and who you are living with. There are places for everyone's price range.

The weather is very unpredictable. It can rain when you do not see it coming. It can also get pretty hot, but you are in Florida so that's nothing new.

They tend to loose a lot of paper work and then you have to submit the lengthy paper work again.

We have a good athletic program, but they do not do their best in football.

There are many apartments around the Gainesville area. There is no way you won't find one you won't like. The prices are fair. They depend on how nice the apartment is, how far from campus it is, and what style it is. I would tour all the apartments to see what you like best, but you will definitely find something.

Overall the food on campus is average. Personally, the amount of money you have to pay is not worth getting a meal plan. If you live on campus it is worth it only because it is the easiest and fastest option. However, if you don't mind cooking I would recommend you do that instead of the dining plan.

I'm in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and I am majoring in Criminology. All of the criminology professors are super helpful and are very knowledgeable. They are willing to meet outside of the classroom to give you pointers and overall it is a great major to be involved with.

Overall, the campus is pretty safe in terms of drug use. Just like at most colleges, college students are going to use drugs. Since it is a public state university with a very large enrollment, numbers are going to be a little higher than some others.

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of academic scholarships at UF for students. You really need to search for them. If you know where to look, you can get a good amount of money. The financial aid awarded through the government has always been reliable. I haven't had any problems receiving my financial aid.

There are so many public buses running throughout campus, that during the day, you can get anywhere you need on campus very quickly. The off campus buses are also very reliable. The best part is that the buses are free for UF students, so that adds to the convenience.

Every computer I have ever used on campus has been equipped with the latest software and has run fast and effectively. The computer lab in the Reitz lets you have 150 pages of free printing per semester, which is really helpful for class notes. The internet is always reliable, and is very fast.

UF does a great job supporting fitness throughout campus. Hosting many fitness classes such as yoga, zumba, kickboxing and the list goes on. With all of the oppurtunites the campus provides it hard for one to say they are not satisfied with their body.

Dining off campus can be a pain. Just depending on where one decides to eat timing and comfort may become an issue. Not all resurants have the best service.
College Sophomore 2013-08-07T16:47:47Z
The police at the school can be a little annoying. They will stop you for going 1mph over the speed limit. The constant UFPD alerts can get a little annoying also, but I believe that just to keep students up to date with the crime going on around them.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
