Enough Labs for All Students – There are a good number of computer labs located in the libraries and the student union for students. However, the afternoon hours have the most people, so if you want to have a good quiet space and an available computer, its best to stop by in the morning.

Some professors are friendly and are eager to teach their classes, while others aren't. However, all have various honors for their teaching and research. Don't be the student that comes to class but never asks questions, or wait until exam time to see the professor. That is what office hours are for.

If you are a party person, there are lots of clubs and parties advertised on social media. No club tolerates underage drinking, so if you want to drink and you're under 21, you are out of luck.

The school is predominately white but there is no racism or under representation in the university. Every has just as much as a voice as anyone else.

It's amazing!! You have to eat at the Copper Monkey, Relish, Satchel and Lombardis. All those restaurants are amazing. My favorite is the Copper Monkey which is a burger joint.

Libraries are HUGE and wonderful for studying. However, dorms are cramped and many times strange especially the lower freshman dorms. Campus traditions are evident everywhere. University of Florida gives students a booklet on different traditions and events that students can participate in. The school loves it when students get involved.

In Florida, there is not much bad weather. The only thing that can stop classes completely is hurricanes, which rarely occur. Rain may cause students to be slightly late but classes carry on uninterrupted.

I was NOT a gator fan when I came to Gainesville for the first time. I thought that University of Florida was too large and not useful to me. However, the immense love and happiness of the students on campus convinced me that I could not only belong in a student body of 50,000 students, but thrive.

Drugs are available everywhere and if you want to find them; you will. However, University of Florida, even with a huge body of students, tries with every effort to create a drug free campus to surround the students will.

Varsity sports at the University of Florida are extraordinary. In the top conference and competing in the top tier of student-atheletes in the nation, the university dedicates an infinite amount to accomplish the set goals. There is a spectacular training and workout amenities. The facilities include friendly and passionate staff that help in all aspects for the athelete: physically, pyschologically, academically, and for a fufilled college experience. IM and clubs sports are also popular. There are many oppurtunities for students to get involved in at all competitive levels. A new trend is underwater hockey.

Greek life is very involved in the party scene and community involvement. But it doesn't dominate the athletics, but contribute to the support from the students. It's noted if you are involved in Greek life, which is great as it encourages one's involvement, academics and school pride. It's nice to have a group of friends and be able to network, which are all great oppurtunities and experiences!

Gainesville is a small town with lots of college life to offer. Gainesville thrives on the University of Florida, which is the heart of the town. About an hour away is the beach and natural springs that are great get-aways from the big party student life. The town offers many shows and art festivals for the students and the community to be involved in the Gator Nation! Visit the Butterfly Museum and attend the athletic events that are a great experience in the spirited atomosphere!

There are some really cool professors here and enough teaching assistants to really help all the students who need to ask questions. Everyone is pretty open to help however they can and do so fittingly.

It's not too hard to find Off-Campus housing, but it may be more expensive the closer you are to campus and what all you want included in your rent. Although some of the apartments are not the best options, there are really great options within a couple miles of the school that are cheap and give exactly what you need, plus less living limitations.
College Freshman 2013-07-19T04:50:43Z
Although some facilities for campus housing are fantastic, dorm rooms could be better, some are working on renovations and don't always have air conditioning; however, most have personal air conditioning units and thermostats that allow each room to be comfortable according to the occupants.

Education is raving here as many of the students are from higher positions in grades from their high schools. This makes the college really competitive and yet easy to balance when focused.

Varsity sports are greatly sought out and supported by the majority of faculty, staff, and students. There are some workout facilities that are absolutely eye-opening including a room dedicated to biking. Theres a lot of room to workout on your own or with other students.

Professors are almost always passionate about the major. I'm a Sociology major and I am always learning something new each day. Professors are usually easy to talk to and engage in conversations over Sociology career options, such as research, teaching, medical field, law, etc. Workload consists of much reading and writing. Not too difficult, pretty easy to handle. Internship opportunities are usually found off campus. Typically small classrooms compared to other majors, so it's easy to have answers to your questions and engage in conversations with other students. Major consists of many class discussions and a couple group projects. A couple research papers here and there. Need to take Stats 1 and 2 for the major, and a couple other required Sociology courses such as Research Methods and Sociological thought and theory. Many options for courses, interesting subjects such as sociology of masculinity, sociology of women, poverty, society and the individual, etc.

My school is one of the top public universities in Florida. Every student here is proud to be a Florida gator. We are filled with school pride, we take pride in our sports and its accomplishments, along with academic accomplishments. Even though he's somewhat of an embarrassment to the school, Ryan Lochte is a gator and he is an Olympic champion. Even in the movie Parenthood, the University's Turlington plaza is shown. There's always something to do on campus. There is Krishna lunch, and we have all kinds of options for dining such as Moe's, Papa John's, Subway, Freshens, Burger King, Panda Express, Starbucks...We have a non-smoking campus and are a green school. We have an amazing Career Resource Center that provides students with resources for internships and other career related opportunities. They also help with resumes, applications, cover letters, etc. We have a great bus transportation system. You can always find something to do for nightlife around midtown area and downtown.

There are a number of diverse and small mom-and-pop places along with traditional chain restaurants. A majority of them surround UF campus, making it convenient to grab a bite if you live on campus or surrounding it. There are a lot of places that stay open later for late night prowlers.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
