I just switched in to my current degree field, but I love the program, the classes, the professors, and the advisory help. The workload is good for me because i really enjoy it.

The financial aid process at UF is pretty good. As long as you keep up with the tedious process and requirements, your aid will come.

There are literally hundreds of student opportunities on campus in the areas of athletics, campus events, and social events.

The facilities at UF are great and easy to navigate and use.

It can get really hot at UF starting around May, but this year while the winter wasn't as cold the cool air persisted throughout a lot of what I would have thought to be hotter months, so that was a really nice change. I do love winter and was sorely disappointed when the air temperature didn't drop as low as I expected it too. One thing to watch out for at UF is the humidity, sometimes, even when the thermometer doesn't read that high, it is like you are in a plastic bag with this weight sitting on you. It can be frustrating, but my advice to you is don't bother with jeans once May starts and don't worry about curling your hair because no one appreciates it anyway and it will just fall out. Save yourself the trouble and wear lightweight clothing and for ladies, natural make-up.

I love living off campus from UF. While there are many places, such as chain apartment buildings that are owned and operated all by the same company who jack up the prices ridiculously high for something that isn't even that pleasant, there are some really great off campus choices. I truly enjoy living in a house, it makes me feel like I have a real home, and I don't have to worry about so many neighbors if I want to have people over. Also a lot of houses are genuinely cheaper that the apartment complexes and a lot closer you just have to find the right one, because like the apartments there are crappy houses with crappy landlords. It takes a lot of searching, but if you do it right and out the time and effort into your living situation you will come out a much happier person. I'm very grateful for the place I live now, it's perfect and I plan on staying there until I graduate.

I love the atmosphere of UF. It's facilities give an ambiance of an older time. I enjoy having my classes in the brick, 50+ year old buildings. As for the classes themselves sometimes I feel I have it too easy, this is why I picked up another major. Campus life itself is great though because you get to see people from all different walks of life come together for causes they think are important. UF has a great free speech policy, it allows students to petition, rally, and push the student group they want others to be a part of. One of my favorite things about UF is that you could ALWAYS find a club or organization that would fit exactly what you want because there are almost 1,000.

Gainesville is very eclectic. There is something for everyone. From locally grown food to the typical college processed crap you will always be able to find someplace to eat. As for attractions, UF in itself is an attraction. At least once a week I find out something new about the campus I never even knew existed. And outside of Gainesville there is a lot of natural beauty. Don't expect to find students at arcades or out bowling, expect to find them at Paynes Prairie or Devil's Millhopper. This college town is a culture because people from all backgrounds, races, economic statuses, and political views live here and participate in the one of Florida's best universities.

Florida weather is extremely unpredictable. It sometimes rains while the sun is still shining!

I really enjoy how conveniently located all of the dining location are pertaining to campus.

good selection of computers at each of the libraries and campus computer labs, there is at least one lab in the architecture building that is open with some computers 24/7, free printing at the SGA lab in the Reitz Union upto 250 pages per semester I believe. Bring your own computer though, and you can print at any library of course too but you have to charge your ID card.

bad quality food, lack of extended hours, closed often on campus holidays, price is way too much to justify paying for that type of quality, but you do get flexbucks to spend at the other restaurants on campus, though it still doesn't quite justify a meal plan
College Sophomore 2013-06-04T16:07:01Z
good selection of properties, gauranteed you'll find a place to live, transportation may at worst be a hassle but won't be an issue as dedicated bus routes to campus, proximity to shopping may be an issue but if you live near campus it won't be too bad. The Walmart near campus does not sell produce and the Supercenter Walmart is at the other end of town, so that's far no matter where you live off campus.

This school is very diverse. It is nice to be around so many students that have a different background and a different ethnicity. You can meet so many diverse people living in the dorms.

The University of Florida has some of the best athletics. All of the sports are fun to watch and are pretty good. Fan support is huge here, you will nit find a single sport that doesn't have school spirit. The athletic facilities are very nice and big enough to fit many fans. Some of the best memories are made here.

Parking on campus can be very difficult, but it is possible to get a parking spot at certain times of the day. If you are a freshman, it is a nightmare trying to get parking until you advance to the next level. The parking is not very close to classes or to dorms, though.

Greek life is mostly about partying. It is difficult to be friends with Greek students, but not impossible. They give a bad reputation to a school. Many of the Greek students look down on people that aren't in the Greek system. They only care about you if you like to party every night.

While there are many scholarships offered, many of them do not meet the needs of the students that go there.
I found myself having to take out loans and research grants and scholarships just to stay in school
College Junior 2013-05-31T06:06:15Z
There is a pretty good number of scholarships available at UF
College Junior 2013-05-30T20:22:16Z
Extremely Diverse – No matter what your interests are, there is always a group for you on campus. There is literally a group for everything from juggling to automotive engineering. You don't even have to worry about finding the groups for yourself! All you have to do is utilize IDEAL. The people there will help you find a group that fits your interests. On the off chance that you don't find a group for you, it's also extremely easy to make your own! Just get a group of friends and register with the university.

There are tons of recreational activities to become involved with. with UF campus life, you really do feel part of a big family. Campus life is in my opinion one of the greatest experiences a college student can have. And there are tons of opportunities to get more involved with your career choice both on and off campus. I am on my second internship as a freshman already! UF really allows you to just put yourself out there and dive in to the next chapter of your life.
College Sophomore 2013-05-30T03:03:28Z
There are plenty of hangout, good-eat spots off campus. From Cantina, Mochi, and Schlotzky's to Chuey's, Ale house, and Copper Monkey. There are too many great places to count on two-hands! The Reggae Shack is one of my favorite places. They have delicious caribbean food, and the environment you can only get here in Gainesville. Places to eat around here range from relatively cheap to moderate by today's standards. Overall, I love the bounty of options available around Gainesville.
College Sophomore 2013-05-30T02:57:12Z
UF's campus life is like no other. The student union known as the Reitz is very modern filled with many students working hard, at one time, and playing hard the next. There are fast food joints, places to study, convention rooms, an art gallery, and a very popular hangout arcade/games area. There are so many organizations to join, and there are always fun activities and events going on across campus.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
