Transportation is wonderful. There is always a way to get around campus or back to your apartment or house and they even have a late bus that runs during the entire night if you needed it.

The University of Florida offers its students so much diversity in every way possible, from diverse people to diverse academic programs. I believe UF has a major for everyone and offers many study abroad and internship opportunities.

Most of the parties I have attended have been safe and healthy. The free transportation offered to students is also a convenient and safe system.

Health & Safety:
I have always felt safe on the University of Florida's campus due to the great UFPD system. They are always around the campus at all times of day. They also have a system from which they send out automatic texts, warning students of an occurring crime on campus or around campus. Apart from the UFPD, UF also offers several free defense courses and security for the electronics a student possess.

I'm in the Art Education program, which is very small, but a very worthwhile program to be a part of. It would have been nice to have had more opportunities to interact with other majors and promote ourselves among people with related majors (since art ed is fairly interdisciplinary) but overall it is one of the best programs of this kind in the country.

UF has typical Florida weather--mild winters and extremely hot/humid summers. If you are already used to Florida weather, this is not much of a change, but if you are like me, it was a little different seeing how quickly the weather could change inland versus the relative constancy of living by the beach. Aside from the occasional rain and hurricane season weather hiccups, there aren't other weather elements that should really cause any problems.

Greek life is a huge part of life at UF. The percentage of students in a fraternity/sorority is much higher than average, and certain opportunities make their priority painfully obvious. Most notably, student government is largely dominated and controlled by Greek students. On the other hand, they did offer the opportunity for many parties and activities that non-Greeks (especially females) were able to participate in. Also, Greek students frequently participated in very worthwhile philanthropies that did great things for several excellent organizations.

Well, I havent started class yet. But I know the classes are large. However, UF is known for producing some of the best doctors. So something must be working!

I recieved financial aid, but all government stuff and loans. The financial office is difficult to get in contact with and there aren't many scholarships available unless you apply for the hand-written private scholarships. Also they are not informative on which scholarships are available to apply for.

The housing seems to be very disorganized. I don't think that they can handle the number of students who are attending and need on campus housing.

Greek Life is Great and most of the guys and girls are all nice. It makes the social atmosphere more fun and adds to the college life. Greeks are not really looked down on by non greeks. Most every sorority and fraternitys have houses on campus.

I just switched in to my current degree field, but I love the program, the classes, the professors, and the advisory help. The workload is good for me because i really enjoy it.

The financial aid process at UF is pretty good. As long as you keep up with the tedious process and requirements, your aid will come.

It can get really hot at UF starting around May, but this year while the winter wasn't as cold the cool air persisted throughout a lot of what I would have thought to be hotter months, so that was a really nice change. I do love winter and was sorely disappointed when the air temperature didn't drop as low as I expected it too. One thing to watch out for at UF is the humidity, sometimes, even when the thermometer doesn't read that high, it is like you are in a plastic bag with this weight sitting on you. It can be frustrating, but my advice to you is don't bother with jeans once May starts and don't worry about curling your hair because no one appreciates it anyway and it will just fall out. Save yourself the trouble and wear lightweight clothing and for ladies, natural make-up.

I love living off campus from UF. While there are many places, such as chain apartment buildings that are owned and operated all by the same company who jack up the prices ridiculously high for something that isn't even that pleasant, there are some really great off campus choices. I truly enjoy living in a house, it makes me feel like I have a real home, and I don't have to worry about so many neighbors if I want to have people over. Also a lot of houses are genuinely cheaper that the apartment complexes and a lot closer you just have to find the right one, because like the apartments there are crappy houses with crappy landlords. It takes a lot of searching, but if you do it right and out the time and effort into your living situation you will come out a much happier person. I'm very grateful for the place I live now, it's perfect and I plan on staying there until I graduate.

I love the atmosphere of UF. It's facilities give an ambiance of an older time. I enjoy having my classes in the brick, 50+ year old buildings. As for the classes themselves sometimes I feel I have it too easy, this is why I picked up another major. Campus life itself is great though because you get to see people from all different walks of life come together for causes they think are important. UF has a great free speech policy, it allows students to petition, rally, and push the student group they want others to be a part of. One of my favorite things about UF is that you could ALWAYS find a club or organization that would fit exactly what you want because there are almost 1,000.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
