The professors are all amazing, and they seem genuinely happy to be teaching. Every teacher I've had so far has not disappointed me. The study abroad programs are great, I'm hoping to actually study abroad next semester. We have 8 libraries on campus, so finding a place to study is not a problem. The workload is a bit tough, but it's all worth it in the end.

I live off-campus, and most of my friends do, as well. It's very convenient and there are many great benefits. Many bus routes pass through campus so you're never late to class. It's not noisy and loud and it's a great way to escape from school if you're feeling swamped from homework. It's also nice having your own room and bathroom.

The nursing program at UF is very competitive, but for good reason. I am a pre-nursing student, so I've only been doing my gen ed requirements and pre-nursing classes so far, but they've all so far been great and I've had amazing instructors! The nursing advisers are also very helpful.

Parking is pretty terrible. There is no way you can expect to drive to class, especially as an underclassman. They ticket like crazy. Permits dont cost too much though. If you park after hours, its not as bad, or if you are willing to park further away and then take the bus on campus.

If you are into exercising and athletics, the facilities at UF for students are top notch. Southwest Rec is in the middle of a multimillion dollar rennovation, and it is really a great gym. The school puts tons of money into its gyms, group fitness classes, intramural sports programs, etc.. There are plenty of employment opportunities as well.

All instructors seem fair. Work is related to subject and activities are fun and interesting. Registration is fairly easy.

Greek life is very prominent on campus, however there is way more to do than just being Greek. Only 15% (or something like that) are Greek. We're a very involved, dedicated, and hardworking group of people. Don't let the stereotype speak for the whole. It's not a big deal if you're not Greek, but it's a great way to shrink UF and meet new people. It's a large state school and joining something tight knit like a fraternity or a sorority makes everything easier.

Parking is inconvenient. There are a nice variety of places to live on campus, some nicer than others, hence the C+. There are really nice dorms and others are older. It balances out but either way, living on campus is a definite must!

At UF academics are held high and students use various ways to succeed. On campus there are tutors for math and English that are free and accessible to all students. There are also tutoring zone and study edge that help with exam reviews. Both are moderately cheap and are easily accessible. What is useful for students is the career resource center which helps in finding jobs, build a resume and help in preparing skills in a job interview. To take a break, Lake Wauburg is free and fun, with various activities such as canoeing, watersports and rock climbing. Ginnie Springs is another option to picnic and float down the lake. Lake Alice is a good way to see the bats at night or during the day go to the Butterfly Museum. A popular place to hang out with friends and eat is the SWAMP restaurant, good food and great for game days. The O’Connell Center holds many concerts and guest speakers that are enjoyable to see on a weekend with friends.

Here at UF there are multiple ways of getting around campus. You can personally bring a bike, a car or have a scooter. To have access to street or on campus parking you will need to buy a decal. The RTS buses run every 10-15 minutes which is convenient to get to class, the gym or the grocery store. There are also shuttle buses that take students home for wither Thanksgiving break or Winter break that are affordable in cost and convenient for safe travel. The university also has later gator and "SNAP" transportation for those wanting to be safe at night or do not want to walk home alone.

Health & Safety:
Here at UF there are constant UF alerts from UFPD. Updates and emails are directly sent for notification. Throughout campus there are safety blue lights which are used for any emergency. The police will come as soon as you press the button if you are unsafe. The “SNAP” is also used for late night transportation and is convenient for students who are far from the dorms or those not wanting to walk alone.

If you are an enthusiast of sports, rowdy reptiles is the perfect way to express the love of the gators. Waiting in line or sleeping outside the O’Dome to cheer on the Gators are true fans. Rowdy reptiles help illuminate and pump up the crowd by painting your face or whole body in orange and blue or making “Big” heads of the players. You never know, you may be seen on ESPN. The fans are great supporters and being in the SEC is very competitive. The athletics are very prestigious in football, basketball and baseball just to name a few. UF is ranked in the top 10 in the SEC and continues to produce and have successful seasons.

Living on campus is very convenient and allows you to meet people. Parking is close and walking to class or games is easy and accessible. Many of the dorms have study areas that are quiet for exams and late night study sessions. The dorms are clean and are managed well. If ever there are problems, maintenance will come and fix it immediately.

There are so many different types of restaurants here in Gainesville. There are plenty of big chains, but there are many more local restaurants that offer great food at great prices. One of my favorites is Dragonfly, an upscale sushi restaurant. I also enjoy food from the Jones, which tries to incorporate locally-grown food into their menu.

Generally speaking, there is a lot of good stuff happening in Gainesville. It's great for people who have good ideas and want to start their own business. Many people are willing to help and even though more than 50,000 people attend the university, there is still a small town feel. There is a wide variety of things to do if you like hiking/biking/canoeing, especially with Lake Wauberg. There are always plays and small bands playing and the sports scene is HUGE. If you don't like football, this isn't the place for you. This is also a mostly safe city.

When it rains, it really pours, but the weather is awesome 90% of the time. It gets really hot, but that's just how Florida is. During the "winters," the temperate is temperate and usually only a light jacket is needed.

If you're not into that thing, then it's pretty invisible. I don't do drugs and I've never been in a situation where someone has offered, but I have been told that it is accessible if you want it, but it's not something that is out in the open, which is great, because it makes me feel more comfortable and safe.

UF offers a lot of majors and there are 975 organizations on campus so there is something for everyone. Employers love UF and every semester dozens of employers come to recruit students for internships and part time jobs at Career Showcase. There is always something to do, such as free movies open to the public at the Reitz Union, GatorNights, the bar scene if you're into that, sporting events are very high energy and lots of fun, club meetings, fitness groups, dance lessons, community service, and anything and everything you could think of that you might want on a college campus.

Health & Safety:
I've never felt unsafe or threatened on campus. Some things do happen ocassionally but it's important to keep in mind that crime exists pretty much everywhere. I live on campus and nothing has ever happened to me but it is still important to be on the look out, don't walk alone at night, don't drink and walk alone, and be as safe as possible.

Gainesville nightlife is cheap and amazing. Midtown across from campus has tons of 18 and older bars and downtown has over ten clubs. There are house parties and dorm parties all around campus

Location is definitely the best part about the available apartments in Gainesville. Either your within walking distance of campus or a bus route that takes you straight there. Plus buses are free with a UF ID.
Cost is average, there are some good deals out there and some real rip-offs, but most are average 3/3 or 4/4 deals.
The closer you live to campus, the less likely you'll have parking.
The realtor companies vary as far as good landlords. The best are individuals who own and rent out apartment style condos. These guys usually have the lowest prices in good locations with easy to understand leases.

Although living on campus is convenient, it is actually less of a financial burden to live off-campus. Many apartments around Gainesville offer private bedrooms with bathrooms from around $380, would come fully-furnished, and includes a cap towards an electric and water bill. Off campus housing is also significantly nicer than living in a dorm on campus. With all of the public transportation that students can freely take advantage of, living in an apartment is definitely worth losing the convenience .

I love that I chose a Criminology major at the University of Florida. The staff is extremely supportive of academic excellence, and encourages their students to become involve in research outside of class in order to gain experience for graduate schools. There are numerous classes that Criminology majors can choose from that can reflect different interests in various areas of criminal justice academics; from legal policy to juvenile justice to corrections, a student can choose to experience all areas of the criminal justice system.

A lot of people drink at UF in social environments such as at parties or at a club. People assume you drink, but I don't and I don't feel much peer pressure to drink. There is definitely a significant minority who doesn't. There isn't a big drug seen and I rarely see people smoking on campus, but I know there is a surprising number of people who use marijuana (like 15% of the school, according to a survey two years ago)

Not interested in the Athletics at UF, however, lots of money goes there. It would be nice if they gave out merit scholarships as easily as they do athletic ones.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
