I am not experienced in the nightlife, but from what I can see and hear from others, there are good options in the downtown area. I can't speak too much on this subject.

There are a large variety of off-campus housing options very near campus, and a little further off-campus that are still accessible to campus via the free RTS bus system. In addition to the variety in location, is a wide variety of options according to price, newness, amentities, and bedrooms. There are many many apartment communities, in addition to houses and townhouses for rent by owner and through realators.

Health & Safety:
When I lived on campus, we had scan cards to get into the dorms, and you could only access the floor of your building and other communal areas (e.g.-study, practice rooms), which helped me feel safe, and we receive text alerts when there's a danger in the area, and where it is near.

Most of the bus routes cover all locations, so you will be able to get to campus, and multiple routes tend to have at least one of the same stops so you have more than one option.

Greek life is a part of the University of Florida, but a very small part. For example, if you're not in a fraternity or a sorority, you are not a social outcast. There are so many other things always going on at campus that you can get involved in, so whether or not you're in a fraternity or sorority really doesn't matter.

The police are there to protect you. If you aren't doing anything wrong, then their presence shouldn't bother you or make you uncomfortable in any way.

I use to have a meal plan so I know a thing or two about on campus dining. We have two major buffet-style dining halls on campus, one that is near the stadium and one that is closer to the other side of campus and near various student halls. I think the quality of the food served there is overall good, but I do think it can get boring to eat there everyday. There are other options on campus too such as Panda Express, Burger King, Papa Johns, Subway, Chic-fil-a, and Starbucks, to name a few. There are options to choose from and prices are mostly student friendly. You are also able to use your declining balance dollars at the various convenience stores on campus which is very nice.

There are a lot of eating options off campus. There is a very popular section right across the street from campus called Mid-town, it houses restaurants, clubs and some stores. Most prices are very student friendly and open late. One of my favorite Asian places has to be Tatu in Midtown. Another place that serves a lot of vegan and vegetarian options as well as Caribbean options is Reggae Shack which is more towards the downtown area but still very close to campus

Varsity sports at the University of Florida are pretty important. The University of Florida practically makes Gainesville, and so both the students and the residents have a lot of school spirit. It is so amazing to see tailgating events before the games and the games themselves. Student who attend here are definitely proud to be Florida Gators. I don't know a lot of specifics about the sports team at the school but I know that we have a great gymnastics team, I believe that two of the girls on the team participated in the Olympics. And I know that we have a great Football team, pretty sure we're in the top 20 at least.

We have plenty of computer labs located throughout the libraries and other buildings on campus and each student gets 250 sheets of paper printed for free in the computer labs. Usually they are open and crowded but one never has to wait too long to use them.

Campus can be pretty strict but the rules are not unreasonable. For example, they have an amnesty policy in which if one of your underage friends was found drinking throwing up or so by an officer or an RA, they would be punished but if you told someone about it, the punishment would be lighter and officers would not be involved. Violating the honor code also may get students kicked out of school but that's expect of basically every school.

It is amazing how much school spirit there is here. The support behind all sports is huge, and there are two gyms for working out, rec and competitive teams for all sports, and club teams for all sports. So you can find something you enjoy here, and the facilities are top of the line

University of Florida and it's athletics are top-notch, not to mention the school spirit! ("If you're not a Gator, you're gator bait!") Game days are always packed, even after Time Tebow graduated, and the streets run orange and blue. Our teams are decent, especially men's basketball this year.

Most of the activity I have observed is of traffic, with the speed limit and bikers in the correct bike lane.

The weather is beautiful in the winter time, usually between the 50s and 60s. However it could go down as low as the 30s or as high as the 70s. The summer is brutal though, since there are no oceans around campus, it becomes very humid and hot. The fall and spring are pretty much alike, usually ranging in the 70s. The weather in Florida is always flucuating so it can be a beautiful sunny morning and two hours later there is a downpour.

I am definitely very happy that I have my own computer at school, given that the libraries are usually very crowded and there are only a limited amount of computers there. Thankfully, there is wireless internet all throughout the campus, so we are able to do work anywhere on campus. Owning a computer would be the most convenient.

The University of Florida has mostly (if not all) Division I sports, and we have won numerous championships in all sports. The Gator Nation is one of the biggest school-spirited campuses in the country. With that, the school keeps the athletic facilities up to date. All sports events have a high fan base (especially the football games). Also, there a variety of intramural sports played throughout the entire year.

All around campus are places that would fulfill almost anyone's craving. Munchies 420 is perfect if you and your friends are craving a late night snack, while Pita Pit offers a variety of healthy foods. No matter what you crave there is a place to serve you.

The main sports, such as men's football and basketball, are massively popular. During the fall, everyone goes to the football games and game days are a big deal with tailgates for greek life and also everyone else. IM sports are popular as well with tons of different sports available at Recreational or Competitive level. There are several gyms that all have nice equipment and are available for use by students and faculty.

Health & Safety:
There's police almost everywhere you look. At night they patrol the streets at time and there's security...even at the library. I feel safe walking alone at night even though it's not recommended

They work well. I've only used the ones at the printing lab. They aren't that slow and they get things done

I'm from Miami so I'm used to very warm weather. To me it get very cold. It rains a lot in summer/fall and it can get very gloomy. When it's sunny its great!

Pros are that you're able to have your own place that doesn't have as strict guidelines and that you have more freedom. Also, you become more independent and are able to personalize your place more.
Cons include having a farther distance to classes, gyms, etc. also the prices may be more expensive if you want a nice place
College Sophomore 2013-01-25T03:13:33Z
Some of the campus housing is good on campus especially the ones with their own bathrooms in them like Hume and Beaty. I remember having friends in the other dorms and during the weekends when their bathrooms wouldn't be cleaned they would be pretty disgusting.
College Sophomore 2013-01-25T03:08:57Z
The school spirit here at UF is amazing! Every football and men's basketball game is always packed with enthusiastic fans who get there hours before the game to cheerfully support their team. Even sports like gymnastics, which aren't usually well-attended meets in other schools get their share of fans here.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
