I personally think the food in the area is great. Most of the time one can eat a good meal for less than $10, but there are a handful of pretentious restaurant owners that think their fast food quality cuisine deserves a Michelin Star.

I give UF an average strictness score. Since we have been in the top 10 party schools for the past decade or so, folks tend to turn their head most of the time. I have known a few students that have been kicked off campus for not abiding by dorm policies. Academically, you must stay close to perfect.

It sucks that because of how many students there are, funding runs out quickly! I suggest you stay on top of things and make sure you know what's going on with your financial aid, because the last thing you want is a financial hold on your record without even knowing about it.

I'm mostly a house party kind of person. Since I'm only 20, I can't go to the bars, and the clubs are definitely not my scene because of the touchy-feely drunk frat boys who attend. The house parties are always a blast, that's for sure!

There are the usual! Chick-Fil-A, Bahama Breeze. The people who work there are mostly college students, too, so you get to know who's who a lot quicker. It's nice!

At UF, I'm in the college of Health and Human Performance with a major in applied physiology and kinesiology. WE are one of the top programs for exercise science in the nation with leading faculties in their area of focus. I really enjoy what I'm learning and it even has a mandatory internship.

The drug scene is more around in the city of Gainesville. More drinking occurs with students rather than drugs.

There seems to be quite a good amount of diversity as far as ethnicity/race, sexual orientation, political, and religious beliefs are concerned. However, there is a small percentage of international and out of state students who seem to be accepted.

The RTS bus system is fabulous because UF is such a BIG campus. Buses on campus are free, and off campus are free as well is you provide a school ID. There are also programs in place to call at night to come pick you up if you need it!

Gainesville has a nice variety of restaurants spanning from local to chains. Satchel's is a wonderful local pizza place and has a very neat 'look'.

Health & Safety:
I always feel safe while on campus. There are crimes that occur, however, all UF students are notified about it via text messages and/or email so we all stay informed and know what to look out for.

The majors are very diverse, all the way from agricultural communications to mechanical engineering. UF is currently adding an African Studies Major.

Football, basketball, track and field, cross country have all won national championships in the past 10 years. Volleyball, tennis, swimming and diving, gymnastics and baseball and softball have all places in the top five.

It's great. There are tons of places right off campus. especially right across the street. I am from Gainesville so I know a lot of the hidden gems also.

Greek life has allowed me to get involved on campus and meet so many new people. Greek life has provided me with sports, philanthropies, as well as social events and friends. Without joining Greek life, I would not have had as great of a first semester.

In my experience, it has only rained hard enough to affect my journey to class one time in my first semester. The weather is spectacular and it is always sunny and warm.

I am attending the University of Florida and in my experience over my first semester, I can honestly say the professors are interested in each students success. The professors are open and available at all times to help with any questions you may find throughout their courses.

I'm in the Engineering College, and the critical track that they have designed for my specific degree allows me to stay on track with the courses needed to graduate.

There are lots of places to eat on and near the campus. The dining halls have different foods every day. The food is not that bad either. Some other places to eat on campus include burger king, chic fil a, papa johns, and panda express (and a lot more).

Health & Safety:
I always feel safe on campus. There has never been a moment where i felt otherwise. The campus police are always present and enforcing rules but not being to overbearing. Crime isn't a major thing. When crime does occur, however, I receive text messages and emails with constant updates about the situation.

I don't know much about the off-campus housing. There are a lot of apartments within walking distance, but I think they're pretty pricey. A lot of buses run to apartments that are farther from campus, making transportation easier.

UF has pretty good weather through out the year. It never gets too cold, except for maybe a month or two during winter, but if you're not used to it summer can be very hot with a lot of humidity.

Drinking is very common especially during football season. Marijuana is probably the second most commonly used drug, but I wouldn't say that it's too visible on campus.

I received almost no financial aid, even though I had amazing scores. I fouind that most of my friends are the same, and you must win an award like national merit to receive any money.

I came to UF because of their great reputation in the medical field. They did not dissapoint as all of my classes have been taught by great teachers who know a lot. Registration is fairly easy, but it is better to sign up early knowing what classes you want before they are all taken, as the common classes fill fast. There can be a lot of work, but thats mostly self assigned work for studying, as almost all grades are exams.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
