Hope You Have a Smart Car! The parking at UF isn't always terrible but at times it can be a pain. Your decal has to be a certain color for every lot and most of the time the lots that I need to park in are a different color than my decal. Then, most of the lots tend to be quite far from the academic buildings. Also, the spots must all be measured out for clown cars becuase they are microscopic. Another thing is that parking enforcement tends to be annoying and write tickets for parking on the white lines, which is sometimes inevitable in those miny spots. But with all the buses that travel through the area, having a car on campus isn't all that imperative so all this stress can be avoided.

Not a Partier – UF's nightlife portrayed in the media explains itself. There are countless opportunities for 18+ as well as 21+ students. I am not into the social scene so cannot speak from experience.

UF's academics and research make it one of the top schools in the state. The superb academic quality of the university made it my top choice of schools. There are countless research opportunities for undergraduate students to become involved in. The professors are knowledgeable but large class sizes make it difficult for students to have a personal relationship without alot of effort.

My Major – Something that I found really cool about UF is they offer a 5 year program where you can receive both your bachelors and your masters. I think that is so awesome because it condenses the school time and still gives you the two degrees. I'm not sure what other majors they offer it for but I know they offer it for Anthropology.

Pretty Congested – UF is heavily populated as far as the student body goes. There are always students everywhere on campus. The libraries are constantly packed. You have to hunt down a table or arrive relatively early to claim a spot. Students take pride in studying. It's the "cool" thing to do. The student center is always flooded with students. There is always some type of fair going on with many different student organizations trying to capture new students' attention. Many students enjoy congregating outside of the student union for lunch or studying during their free time. During football season, the campus is covered with dedicated gator fans to spread the gator love across the nation. During the week there is never a dull moment on campus. But when the weekend comes, the campus is a complete ghost town. Sometimes that can get a little lonely.

Needs Work – Financial aid advisor have the information you need but you have to be on top of your financial aid; it is always subject to change, they tell you, you will be receiving a certain amount and you might end up receiving less.

Intense, Intense, Intense – There are a lot of different options when going Greek. It's hard to know what you're getting yourself into though. Fraternities are more laid back, but the sororities can be very overwhelming. I think it can be a fun experience but it takes up a lot of time and there's a lot of stereotypes. If you go Greek, many people will just think you're the typical frat guy/sorority girl and even within the Greek system you'll be judged. If you're in one of the "bottom" sororities, you will be dubbed boring or ugly; if you're in one of the "top" sororities, people will assume that you're dumb or very promiscuous. On the other hand, most of the houses are really nice.

Reasonable in Most Cases – Most of the time, if you appear slightly intoxicated, the police don't do anything. Unless you're obliterated or causing a disturbance, then you'll most likely get a citation. I've never heard of anyone being arrested or expelled for drinking though. I think everyone's main concern is parking. If you're not parked in the right area, you're getting a $30-$45 ticket. After a few tickets, you get a boot on your car.

Restaurants Good, Dining Hall, Boring – The variety of restaurants at UF is pretty good. I think there are over 20 and they include Subway, Starbucks, Chik-fil-a, Moe's, and Chili's. However, the two dining halls on campus have really boring food. If you like baked, then frozen, then heated back up again pizza 5 times a week, it's your lucky day. You can have unlimited quantities for only $2,000 a semester. At first the food tastes good and you're amazed at the variety of food they offer in one day. Then you realize that there's only 6 options and 7 days a week.

Health & Safety:
Great Safety. I know that the police are looking out for me and so I feel very safe. I also know that the university is close to a major hospital, so i feel if something happens to me, I am in the right hands.

The weather in the University of Florida is hot. It is better than the freezing temperatures of the north, but the humidity is sometimes unbearable.

The computers at UF are very modern ones. They have the very latest programs with the highest speeds I have seen by far. I am very impressed with what I work with on a daily basis.

Excellent Housing – The apartments are awesome. Great prices, great people, and great location. It feels I am at home again.
College Senior 2012-08-15T18:29:58Z
Most Are Lenient – Everyone is usually helpful. RA's are lenient. However, the cheating policy is very strict, and most professors are also strict about the rules.
College Senior 2012-08-15T18:27:01Z
Very Knowledgable Staff – Most of the staff and professors are well educated and want to inspire the students. Sometimes professors can not explain some topics well because they can not dumb it down. This is the case where you will have to teach yourself some topics.
College Senior 2012-08-15T18:22:24Z
Courses Are Hard – Chemical engineering is a difficult major. The professors try to help, but a lot of the work must be done on your own. You are responsible for actually learning and reinforcing what the professors teach. Some are willing to help outside of class. Others will assign TA's that help.
College Senior 2012-08-15T18:18:45Z
Drinking Popular – There is really no big drug scene; however, the drinking scene is large. People will drink at game days, parties, clubs, and events. There isn't a large peer pressure, but drinking is definitely apparent.
College Senior 2012-08-13T23:55:44Z
Sparce Quality Dining Options – The two major dining halls on campus are located by Tolbert Hall and by Broward Hall. They offer a decent selection of food, buffet style, but the quality is terrible. Often they reuse food for lunch that was leftover from the day's breakfast. Other times you feel like using the bathroom an excessive amount after eating at the dining halls. The campus also features a number of chain restaurants that most students are familiar with. However, none of them are cheap. If you must pay for a dining plan, get a declining balance plan and just eat at the chains. Otherwise, don't get any and save about 3000-4000 dollars by buying groceries and cooking your own food. If you have flex bucks/declining balance, the convenience stores on campus accept them for payment.
College Senior 2012-08-13T23:35:21Z
Convenient Bus Service – Taking the buses is a requirement for most off-campus students. They run frequently and always stop in front of most, if not all, apartments in the city. Even for students on campus, the bus system provides quick transportation around campus easily and frequently.

Future Gator Pharmacist – Recent tuition increases would make me think twice
College Junior 2012-08-13T16:39:35Z
Decent Amount of Options – There is definitely a variety of places to dine near campus and even a little further out.
College Senior 2012-08-07T19:56:17Z
Good Luck – The transportation office sells more parking decals than the number of spaces they truly have to offer to the students. So unless you're in bed before 9PM, best of luck finding a parking spot around 12AM.

Best Decision of My Life. I am so happy attending the University of Florida. I'm a member of the Gator Marching Band, and it's like a second family to me. Classes are always fun if you put in the effort. My major fits me perfectly (Wildlife Ecology and Conservation), there are plenty of classes to choose from. That's one of the best things about it: the variety it offers to all of its students. If I had to do it all over again, I would still attend UF.

Guys & Girls:
There are a wide variety of people here. We've got plenty of jocks, just go to Southwest Rec. We also have our share of nerdy guys. You'll probably be able to find your type, whether it be the jocky, nerdy, or someone in between.
