Parking is horrendous at UF. It is a fight to find parking, and you can only park in a small part of campus. UF Parking patrol is also very strict with their parking enforcement. If you are over the line in a parking spot even by a tiny bit, you receive a 40 dollar parking ticket, no questions asked.

Hot Hot Hot – UF is in the middle of Florida, so there is no seabreeze at all. Most of the year, the weather is at least 75 to 80 degrees with it reaching up to 95-100 in the summer months. Prepare on wearing light clothing if you plan on walking from class to class!

Animal Science (CALS Major) – I am an ambassador for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. I know from personal experience that our College is excellent with all of their undergraduates in each program. They offer superior advising services, a lot of hands on internship opportunities and research options. As an animal science student, one can even get a paid part-time job at facilities such as the Dairy or Beef Unit, the Equine Center, UF Meats Lab, or the Swine facility.

Amazing Professors – The first couple of years are the worst. Everyone has to go through their gen-ed classes with 200+ students in every class. Most of these classes tend to be rather difficult, but not impossible if you put in the work. After you get through these 2 years, classes get much better. The sizes of the classes shrink, and the professors are really there to help their students. They make sure to have plenty of office hours for students that need help.

Dorm Life – Living in a dorm room is what one would typically expect. It is by no means luxurious, and you are in very tight quarters but that's with any college you go to. The dorm rooms at UF do not allow you to bring a lot of your personal belongings with you to college, but there's enough room for the essentials. Living in a dorm is a great way to meet fellow students and make great first friends if you don't know a lot of people going in. The community style bathrooms suck, but you learn to get used to it. There are great laundry facilities and convenience stores in most residence areas. After the first one or two years at UF, I would highly recommend moving into an apartment off campus as most on-campus residents are freshmen.

Great Locations! The locations and proximity to the campus and bus stops are great. The only drawbacks are the expenses, independence, and lack of involvement on campus. Off campus living can get pricey, but if you're smart, it's manageable. The independence and alone-ness can be frightening too. And it's really hard to stay involved at UF if you're not in the middle of things like you would be on-campus. But overall, it's still a really great experience. Plus, off-campus allows pets!!

Food Science – My major is Food Science and I enjoy it very much. The advisors are very helpful. They inform me of internships, jobs, etc. They really want to see you succeed.

It Is Called a "Party School" for a Reason – The drug scene at the University of Florida is extremely prevalent, especially among a select group of individuals. Also, surprisingly, UF has a relatively lenient policy enforcement, such as its amnesty program for alcohol abuse.

Guys & Girls:
Stuck up – People who go to UF do tend to be hot but it comes with this attitude that everyone brings that just makes them think they are better then everyone else

College Town – If you are looking for a big city, Gaineville is not it!! However, if you are just looking for a college town where almost everything is geared towards students and the university then it is a very nice place to live with everything pretty close by and a whole lot of things that stay open late for students!

There are many student organizations that promote diversity on campus such as VISA, French club, Greek club, etc.

Psychology Has No Admissions Criteria – you do not have to go through any type of admissions process to get into the psychology program. as long as you get into uf, you can major in psychology.

Psychology as a Major – its great because it is a field that i am interested in. i would say that you would definitely need to go to graduate school after majoring in psychology though in order to get a well-paying job.

How Greek Students Are Viewed by Non-Greeks – The greeks control everything. When I met people in the greek life, I thought I was stepping into a movie.
College Senior 2012-06-28T19:52:03Z
School Spirit – Everyone is into football. The whole city comes out to support the gators. When there is a game going on, the whole campus is a ghost town because everyone is in the stadium watching.

Guys & Girls:
It Depends on the Person – If you're looking for a normal typical student, they are awesome. They know how to have a good time and when it's time to study. When you get into the greek system, most are stuck up, rude, and party animals. This of course is just a generalization not everyone fits into this category.

The University of Florida is very accepting of different genders, races, economic background, political beliefs, religion and sexual orientation. I am part of the student area government and we have a whole month of events celebrating student differences. My friends come from various backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions, and political beliefs. The University of Florida doesn't discriminate.

There is one free printing lab. You just have to hit it at the right time of day to avoid the crowds. I rarely have a problem finding a computer. There are many people who choose to bring their own computer to campus. I have heard that the school is putting money into building more computer lab areas. There is also computer help classes offered by the library.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
