UF had been a challenging but rewarding academic experience for me. The campus is beautiful, the housing is convenient, and because Gainesville is small, everything is close (although traffic is the pits). There are so many restaurants, bars, and clubs surrounding the school, and it's awesome to see Ben Hill Griffin Stadium from the window of the dining hall. The campus is very bike and pedestrian friendly and buses are free for students. People are very trusting. There are so many clubs and organizations- if you don't think there's something for you, you haven't tried to find something.

To park on campus, you must pay for a decal every semester, which gets pricey. The decal you receive depends on the number of credit hours you've completed. The more completed, the better decal you get, which means more lots available for you to park in. Spots fill quickly though, and the lots are more surrounding campus than they are within campus. In other words, if your class or dorm is in the heart of campus, you're probably walking.

You Can Survive – i was in springs and it was nice and the people are friendly, they have loads of activities and don't worry to much about your roommates they match you up pretty good

They Are Okay – the labs get extremely crowded during the day especially toward the end of semester but there are random computers all around the university

Its Alright – as far as parties go house parties are better, however there is always something to do as far as the university goes at all hours of the night

Gator Nation Is the Best – The University of Florida Gators is without a doubt the best athletic program in the country! Gators share and become a family in order to show off their love and pride for their school!

The weather at UF is for the most part hot. In the winter it can get pretty cold but never to the point of snowing. It is great!

Punishments Are Well Deserved – I firmly agree with administrations' decision to severely punish a student that cheats. College is meant for learning and hard work and neither of those are accomplished by cheating.

Just Drive Down Archer! I guarantee you any restaurant you may dream of will be found on Archer Road. It's so close to campus and convenient!

Always Available for Help – I love how there are so many TAs and even the professors are willing to get together.

Profs Attempt to "Weed Out" the Students in Chemistry – I don't believe that the professors should make the classes extremely hard just because there are so many students involved.

Health & Safety:
It's very good at the Apopka campus, except I heard some people had some valuables stolen from their cars.

Health & Safety:
Never Felt Unsafe – Campus crime is very minimal. The most common crime is bike theft, and UF has a system where Campus Police sends you a text if there has been a more serious crime to be aware of the situation, which I find comforting. I have heard of very few muggings and assaults on campus. Maybe two or three since I've been there for three years. I have never felt unsafe on campus, even walking alone at night from dorm to dorm. There are many emergency phones scattered throughout campus, and I always see Campus Police patrolling.

The off-campus housing selection in Gainesville is fairly good! The apartments, for the most part, are in good condition. The great thing is that you can find great apartments for a relatively low price! The only downside is that these tend to be "far" from campus and if you don't own a car or there's no bus stop near, it can be complicated getting to class. However, most apartments in Gville are on or near an RTS bus stop.
Majority of the complexes offer a variety of amenities for their residents. Pools, computer labs, tennis/volleyball/basketball courts, tanning booths, gyms (24hrs for most!),clubhouses, events, etc.

The process was pretty easy. There was no abnormal application process or anything of the sort. When applying to the university I simply declared that I wanted to study Psychology because that was what I had always to do, and when I was accepted I just signed up for classes without any problems.

Enjoying Psychology – Learning about psychology is definitely something that I've enjoyed a lot, even from high school, and the classes at UF have further added to my enjoyment of it. Read the textbooks and doing research is not something that I do just because I want the "A," but it is something I wish to do in order to learn. In this aspect I do not regret studying psychology. What I do worry about is not having the financial ability to continue my education throughout graduate school for psychology, because I know that this is required if I want to get a good job in the future. For this reason I have added a minor in Business in the hopes that I might be able to go something with that in the near future, save money, and then have the available resources to get my PhD.

Great Programs – I'm in the Liberal Arts program, currently studying psychology, and I have to say that I've been very pleased with my education here. What I like most about this program is that it allows you to gain a well-rounded education, not only in psychology courses, but in other areas as well. The general education requirements allow you to pick from mathematics, to physical and biological sciences, to humanities and languages in an effort to introduce students to other aspects of education they might not have been aware of. The major that I am perusing also gives me a lot of space to take courses from other majors, and I've taken advantage of this by including a minor in Business Administration in my education.

Don't Get Caught – Campus police have angst toward students at UF and they will have no mercy on you. If you drink on-campus, do not walk outside with a red cup; you will get in trouble.
College Junior 2012-06-16T04:44:38Z
Sunshine State – The seasons in Florida are hot and hotter. Always stay hydrated, especially at the football games. You'll probably have a heat stroke a few times while at UF.
College Junior 2012-06-16T04:30:43Z
Best for Specific Interests – There's nothing like Gator pride, but unless you want to be a part of the Greek system, you're better off elsewhere. The Greek system at UF controls everything, and if you're not a part of it, you'll be left out in the cold.

So many selections – Want to try something different for lunch or dinner? Just walk across University Ave to the strip of eateries and trust me, you will have a hard time deciding where to go.
College Junior 2012-06-14T05:41:50Z
Fast Food Choices – I like the fast food options they have here. If I need some caffeine, Starbucks is the place. Chick-fil-A and Burger King are a favorite among some students, and on super hot days I love to purchase smoothies from either Freshens or Jamba Juice. Just be mindful of how much you spend on campus, because the prices are a little high.
College Junior 2012-06-14T05:36:29Z
The dining halls have their days in which the food is great, and then bland. I found the menus to be repetitive every other week, and the choices are pretty much the same. Meal plans are great to purchase freshman year and ONLY freshman year.
College Junior 2012-06-14T05:17:43Z
Dorm Life – My freshman year wasn't all that exciting, especially with dorm life. I lived in Springs for Summer B, and Rawlings for Fall. Rawlings sits right behind a bus stop, so even though it was convenient for me to travel from A to B, it as a little noisy from inside my room. Its also next to Broward Hall and the dining facility, so you won't have any trouble walking there. Activities always conflicted with my schedule (unless food was involved), so I didn't participate a lot. For my sophomore year I will be living in Fletcher Hall in the Murphree Area, where the rooms are a bit more spacious. Also its close to the Student Rec Center where I can go to the gym in the morning before class.

Not the Best. There is a lot to do in Gainesville in the form of clubs, bars and restaurants, but after awhile it can get repetitive and boring. That's why it is so important to get involved in organizations and make friends. School is what you make of it.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
