Guys & Girls:
Stuck up – People who go to UF do tend to be hot but it comes with this attitude that everyone brings that just makes them think they are better then everyone else

College Town – If you are looking for a big city, Gaineville is not it!! However, if you are just looking for a college town where almost everything is geared towards students and the university then it is a very nice place to live with everything pretty close by and a whole lot of things that stay open late for students!

There are many student organizations that promote diversity on campus such as VISA, French club, Greek club, etc.

Psychology Has No Admissions Criteria – you do not have to go through any type of admissions process to get into the psychology program. as long as you get into uf, you can major in psychology.

Psychology as a Major – its great because it is a field that i am interested in. i would say that you would definitely need to go to graduate school after majoring in psychology though in order to get a well-paying job.

Some dorms have AC and Elevators; some do not. Enough said?

Some days are A; some are C. They have to change their bacon vendor soon. It is disgusting

Good clubbing and campus activities abound. Have to walk a ways to some clubs downtown

Some are good; some bad in terms of house condition, behavior, attention to grades, being too preppy/snobby-or not

Health & Safety:
Health and Safety – Good medical quality and availability with a teaching hospital/clinics on campus. Very good safety programs that are proactive and preventative

Good; Gainesville rated the hardest working small town in US per 1 survey

How Greek Students Are Viewed by Non-Greeks – The greeks control everything. When I met people in the greek life, I thought I was stepping into a movie.
College Senior 2012-06-28T19:52:03Z
School Spirit – Everyone is into football. The whole city comes out to support the gators. When there is a game going on, the whole campus is a ghost town because everyone is in the stadium watching.

Guys & Girls:
It Depends on the Person – If you're looking for a normal typical student, they are awesome. They know how to have a good time and when it's time to study. When you get into the greek system, most are stuck up, rude, and party animals. This of course is just a generalization not everyone fits into this category.

The University of Florida is very accepting of different genders, races, economic background, political beliefs, religion and sexual orientation. I am part of the student area government and we have a whole month of events celebrating student differences. My friends come from various backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions, and political beliefs. The University of Florida doesn't discriminate.

There is one free printing lab. You just have to hit it at the right time of day to avoid the crowds. I rarely have a problem finding a computer. There are many people who choose to bring their own computer to campus. I have heard that the school is putting money into building more computer lab areas. There is also computer help classes offered by the library.

There are students and professors from various countries and areas. There are also organizations that cater to bringing together people interested in meeting a diverse group of individuals whether they are international students, have a disability, etc. There is a program called Florida Opportunity Scholars that accepts students of low economic background and are the first to go to college. Just take a look at the student organization page. There is certainly a place for everyone.

I haven't been to any of the clubs, but I notice that people tend to go to the Swamp (bar) and the Vault.

Abundant Resources – There are plenty of polices paroling the area. I always feel safe. There are blue poles for safety. The police station is on campus. We have the number one career resource center in the United States. The police are quick to capture the suspect and there is a system set up to communicate with all students via e-mail and text.

I've lived in Florida my whole life so it's not that different here for me. If you're from up north you should know that Florida has two seasons: summer and fall. Summer being pretty much from March til September, Fall being October through February. It gets legitimately cold(and beautiful) here, but overnight freezes are about the fullest extent of that. Florida is weird, sometimes it will be perfectly sunny for two weeks at a time, sometimes it will rain every day. Overall I'd rather be here than New Hampshire.

Never Felt Safer – Gainesville is a really safe town to live in. Drugs really aren't big here, the "worst" I've seen in plain view is marijuana. Drinking is huge, especially on game days. It's funny because you're much more likely to get in trouble for drinking underage at a club here than you are if you were walking down the street with a beer in the broad daylight on a football Saturday. It's part of the culture and if you want to partake, it's everywhere. If you don't want to partake, well there's six other days of the week to have good clean fun. Club drugs like Cocaine and MDMA are somewhat popular but that's kind of limited to downtown. You decide your own involvement and no one is going to pressure you to do something you don't want to do.

Super Cheap Vs. Super Expensive – Gainesville has its low and its high when it comes to housing. There are plenty of places far away from campus that are cheap, but it takes you 30 minutes on the bus to get to school. On the other hand, you can live right next to campus and walk there (super convenient), but you pay a hefty premium.

The Gator Nation Is Alive and Well – A lot of people write UF off as a stupid football school, and in a way, they have reason. Football is a huge part of the culture here, as it would be at any SEC school. Saturdays in the Fall are some of the most memorable times I've had here because the city really comes alive. Even if you don't like football(I've never been a huge fan) you'll put on your orange and blue and tailgate the day away. Our other sports don't generate quite as much hype, although our Basketball and Volleyball programs are really popular. Florida really does have the best athletes in the state and from around the country, last year we won the national championships in Rugby, and I only knew about it because my friend was on the team.

Delicious...For the First Week – Although I never had the privilege to live on-campus, I have experienced campus dining at the University of Florida. Most of the places that I have gone to for lunch or dinner have been fresh and fast, with a plethora of places to sit. I have been to the dining hall twice and I thought it was good, but I have heard from many people that after about a week, the food and flavors get so repetitive that it's hard to eat all the meals they bought through the meal plan.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
