Good Food but Always the Same – The food is decent, I was pretty excited in the beginning of the year. However, as more time progressed, I was eating the same food each and every day. It was too much after awhile and I stopped going to the dining hall.

Athletics are huge at UF. It is not just football, but stands are packed for gymnastics, baseball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, and just about ever other sport. Most of our teams are top ranked as well. It is very exciting to go to every game and watch our team win.

There are so many majors available at UF and so many classes to chose from. The workload can be stressful at times so time management is key. Also the registration process for freshmen is terrible because all the classes fill up so fast

Fair but Harsh – The campus penalties are all following the general law of the public and enforce it as if this was not a college campus. It is fair but obviously very harsh.

So Many – There are so many computers in the libraries and the speed is always efficient. They get very crowded during busy hours of the day.

There for You – All of the professors genuinely want to help you succeed. You just have to be willing to put in the effort and go ask for help.

Health & Safety:
You Are as Safe as You Want to Be – Police and safety services, along with safe rides to your dorm and apartment and very safe bus systems, make this campus very safe. However, if you don't utilize these services, and are a girl walking alone on an unlit path, safety could be questionable. Use common sense, and don't walk alone, especially under the influence of alcohol, and Gainesville can be a very safe town.

Hot, Hot, Hot! Gainesville is located about as far away from any ocean as you can get in Florida, which robs it of some of the tempering effects those breezes give. So it is hotter in the summer, and colder in the winter than most other areas of the state. That may not be terrible for you if you head home for summer break, and it never snows. Hurricanes tend to dump a decent amount of rain if they pass over the city, but we don't see the massive damage the coast receives. All in all, it is a nice place, especially if you are trying to avoid winter snow and cold!

Butler Plaza Has Every Major Dining Franchise You Would Like! The butler plaza area is about a mile from campus; they have all sorts of franchise places and little diners. You can get quick meals or long, fancy dinners, from McCallister's place for a giant potato to Bonefish grill. If you want a local restaurant, head downtown, where the more eclectic dining experiences are available.

Apartments Are Everywhere – Pretty much any type of housing you could want is located in Gainesville, from luxury high rise large complexes to single houses of all shapes and sizes. Apartments are available throughout the city, with some right off campus and others several miles away. Prices and inclusions are variable, but if you look you can find the apartment that is right for you.

Free Printing Available – There are plenty of computer labs and libraries available allover campus. I sometimes feel like lugging a computer around even with the wifi is a bit inconvenient. There is only ONE place on campus you can print for free. If you print anywhere else you usually have to pay in bulk, or get charged to your account which must be paid before each semester starts.

The Campus Shuttle covers all the main apartments surrounding campus and everywhere on campus. Its almost impossible to need a car. However if you are not a student but would still like to use the bus to get from one place to another you have to pay. After around eight o clock, there are roughly three buses, route Later Gator A, B and C. They run until two in the morning, however the routes are drastically abbreviated. UF recently implemented Gotcha-Rides. You can call and have your party picked up at the door and taken where ever, the rides are free, but tips are recommended. They also only run until roughly three in the morning.

Guys & Girls:
Guys and Girls – The girls are hot the guys are cool. Very diverse campus.

An Older Look – The UF campus has an older feel to it and it does have some of it's original buildings. It's very cool to see the architecture and it looks great. We have newer buildings as well and one such building is a gym which is state of the art and awesome to use. I've used it myself with friends and it is definately the best gym i've been to. The only problem is that it's in a part of campus that is far away from the living areas and the classes. It's definetly a walk but it is worth it. The stadium, however is probably the best part because it is the center of the Gator Nation and is the best place to be during a game or if you want to reflect when no one is there.

Warm and Rainy – It's very warm her being in Florida and it does rain quite frequently depending on the season. Classes don't get cancelled unless a hurricane or an extreme tropical storm comes through though it's never reached that bad since I've been here. The rain usually ends up being more of an annoyance rather than serious.

Landscape Architecture – I am a landscape architect major which means i'm in the college of architecture. It's a unique experience being in my program. For one, there are not a whole lot of people in the college so you will see some of the same people from class to class. Also, it gets you thinking creativly and anylitically which is an awesome combination. I enjoy it because it is what I like to do and when you enjoy what you do, you tend to be more involved and more interested than if you weren't. The instructures are awesome and they know what they are talking about. Many of them had their own practices or work for a large firm and would sometimes use their projects as examples in lectures which, to me, is really interesting because you get to see what your teacher did. It's a great environment and the building itself is pretty awesome.

Landscape Architecture – I am in the Landscape Architecture program and I couldn't be happier with how it is all set up. The teachers are very well versed in their respected fields and I have learned a lot from each one. I can't really comment on the design courses since I have not yet participated in them (I plan to next semester) but I've been told they are very interesting and definately a challenge. I want to be a Landscape architect or an urban planner so this program is perfect for me and it is one of the best.
I don't really have any concerns about getting a job. I plan to intern with someone (possibly disney) and get a job out of my internship. The field I am in is going to be needed in the future.

Health & Safety:
Somewhat Safe – You get alerts if someone escaped from jail, or if someone stabbed someone, if someone is running around armed. Things may happen to girls on campus, usually if the girl is drunk and decides to hop in the car of a total stranger just because he offers a ride. Be smart and you'll be safe.

Greek life is important to certain ethnicities. Some people take it too seriously and feel as if they're a nobody if they dont become greek. Honestly if someone is non-greek by choice they can have different views toward those who are Greek. People who become greek tend to change, so be aware of that because friends who knew you before you became greek will notice.

Very Diverse – There is just about every race you could possibly think of that goes to this school, so there is no reason to feel left out. There is also people who make up organizations based off of their culture backgrounds. I have met so many people from different parts of the world, and it's truly a learning experience. There are also different groups for people of different financial backgrounds, political beliefs, religions, and sexual orientations. It's all a learning experience as well as a place to fit in.

Wireless Access – Alot of times you are required to constantly update your computer just so that the internet can work. You have to constantly log on if you're go to a different place on campus and it gets pretty annoying.
College Senior 2012-06-01T00:03:28Z
Campus Activities – The school provides many organizations for each person to join and so many activities are happening that you can't be bored. There is something always going on for students to do.

SEC Explains It All – UF is in the Southeastern Conference for sports, which pretty much makes sports incredibly important. We also have a National Championship in almost every sport. Students love attending sporting events, and can attend everything but football for free. The Fall semester practically revolves around football. If you want to participate in sports and not just watch, the intramural program is exceptional. You can play anything from Quidditch to flag football, and most students will participate at some point!

Depends on What You Do – UF has three police forces on campus, so things like speeding and parking violations are VERY strictly enforced (you pretty much can never get away with it). But things that occur in the dorms are the responsibility of the Resident Assistant, so the punishment tends to differ according to the RA. UF has a student honor court and legal team, so if you get in trouble for anything on campus (especially plagiarism and cheating), you can utilize the honor court to fight the punishment.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
