There Are Rules, Then There a Exceptions – Some technical rules seem to be too strict, but when it comes to important matters protocol is followed and justice is fair.

I've only eaten there once, and all though they change the menu very often the outcomes are not always very tasteful. If you run across a favorite that's not usually there like cookies, pizza or drinks, good luck finding it again. As far as the restaurants, some are good like you would find them off campus. Others, could use some work

The Best – Any opportunity you want here at the University of Florida, you;ll be able to find it. I've rarely had serious problems with them and it really does seem to be a fare, wholesome, environment.

For in state kids the prospect of Bright Futures Scholarships seems almost too good to be true. That's because it is. The state of Florida will promise you full tuition and then take it all away because they no longer care about education. Want financial aid? Not if you're white, have parents that are still married, and are middle class. Good luck paying for college, you'll need it.

Ate There Once, Never Again – Maybe I'm overly pampered at my sorority house but the food available in Gator and Broward Dining is sub par. The food is overpriced and lacking in taste. I get more nauseous walking past the buildings than hungry. The restaurants on campus are quite good, especially Chik fil A but they don't have the specials and discounts offered in their off campus sister locations.

Old but Improving – While our athletic facilities are unmatched on any college campus, the rest of the campus struggles to keep up with the times. Classrooms lack air conditioning, most dorms are barely livable, and a lot of campus just seems dated. However, I love the red bricks adorning every building and the school is making renovations slowly but surely.

Greeks Are Very Popular – There are so many Frats and Sororities but being that the campus is so huge, they don't dominate the college. Its fun to go to their events and party at a Frat but you won't be a loser if you never join one either.

Health & Safety:
Skeptical Safety – The campus police seem more involved with giving bike tickets then they do about protecting the students. I never felt unsafe but I have heard of sketchy people making it on campus before.

Know Your Professors – I am currently on the Pre-Law track in order to enter into Law school. The course load is what you want it to be since there is no major that you have to take. The class sizes can be very big so its important to make the effort to know your professors. Its all about networking.

Amazing Atmosphere – UF is such a beautiful campus. Gainesville is the true definition of a college town- everything revolves around the university. There is such a diverse student population with almost a 1,000 student organiztions. Everything from club sports and literary magazines to humans vs. zombies and the rock, paper, scissors club. Popular night life, but studying is a necessity. And few schools can match the pride of the Gator Nation!

Almost Any Restaurant You Can Think of – From Carrabba's, Chipotle, Panera Bread, to Bone Fish Grill. Most of the restaurants can be found on Archer Road or University. Most chain restuarants can be found there. There are also alot of good local places like the Peach Valley Cafe, Mi Appa, and especially Mochi (a fro-yo place with 3 different locations around town). Prices are moderate, but you can find a lot of deals since Gainesville is a college town.

Varied Options Despite Meal Plan – Although the meal plan is convenient, the options get repetitive after awhile. Places are around campus and in the student union are cheap options and varied- even vegan-friendly. Convenience stores are located in multiple places around campus if you're in a jam or just feeling too lazy to go to the store.

Simple to Arrange – Scholarships were easy to arrange through the financial aid office.

RTS All the Way – Buses are the best option to get around UF. Admission is free with your Gator-1 card, and they can take you all around Gainesville. It's all about knowing the routes. If waiting for a bus doesn't work for a busy schedule, however, scooters are another great way to navigate UF. With lots of tight roads and low speed-limits, they're another easy way of getting around.

Great Food Options for an Off-Campus Student – I live off campus, so I normally use UF's dining services for lunch at the Reitz Union. The are are an array of food options, from Chickfila and Tacobell, to nicer options like a gormet salad restaurant and Starbucks. All the spots are affordable and quick.

Florida can be a pretty rainy state, so make sure to buy some rain boots, rain coats, and a nice umbrella that can brace the winds too.

Buses, Bikes, and Scooters – There is no need to have a car at the University of Florida; the bus system of Gainesville is free to all UF students and goes literally everywhere on and off campus, especially to apartments. If you don't feel comfortable riding the buses, most people bike ride in the bike lanes or the huge sidewalks. And of course, having a motorized scooter is very convenient too because there is a lot of parking for them and you can drive them off campus on the larger roads of Gainesville.

There are a lot of good public transportation options at UF. The buses run all day during the week and multiple buses run the same route which is good so if you miss one, another will be along in a few minutes. They take you off campus and where you need to go on campus. On saturdays, there are only a few and on sundays, none at all. Also, at night there is a campus student-run shuttle called SNAP that will transport people at night.

One big thing that UF is very strict about is the use of tobacco on campus. They are not tolerant of it at all. They also are pretty strict about being drunk in public and causing disruptions. If you are drunk at a football game, they will eject you from the stadium and may not let you back for the rest of the year. As long as you don't dive into those situations that can get you in trouble, it is a really fun place to be.

Health & Safety:
At UF, they strive to keep their security up. Being in a city, there will be crime and there has been but the campus does well to inform us of what is happening and if it poses a threat to the students. Our officers are always moving around and make sure that the campus is safe and even the dorms are locked by building, floor, and room so there is little chance for someone who doesn't belong there to be there.

This Is COLLEGE – Going to UF, is like living the dream. Everything you've ever hoped college would be....is found here. Professors lecture's are actually funny, students go to class by day but party by night. The social scene is a non stop great time!!! Socially, there is always something to do at mid-town and downtown, fraternities and sororities throw parties, freshman have friends over in their dorm rooms, and older students throw house parties. Facilities are always clean, because maintenance does the dirty work that even your mom wouldn't want to clean up. UF has an extensive study abroad program, and you can literally visit anywhere in the world. UF is the true college experience that you can't get anywhere else.

Guys & Girls:
Good Looking, Casual, Strong, Ethnic, White, Nerdy, Jocks, Hot – Best way to describe girls and guys at UF, is DIVERSE!!! That's why everyone loves it. You can find every type of person, and this makes it easy to make friends anywhere on campus. There are many sorority girls that are typically dressed well and pretty. There are fraternity boys who have a preppy style, and usually can be found at the gym or at the night clubs. There are very intellectual individuals, who are here for the purpose of learning and studying. While there are others who go to class with their clothes on from the night before. Everyone is different, and at UF, it's okay!!

Finding an Empty Computer Is Like Winning the Lottery!! College students are all about saving money, because many are broke. So, everyone takes advantage of computer labs, because printing is accessible. There are a few hot spots on campus, like the Reitz Student Union, where a student can print 300 pages free. So, it is almost impossible to find a computer, at all hours of the day. With 50,000 students to please, UF does a pretty good job of giving money saving opportunities to their students. You just have to wait in line. Wireless internet works all the time, at lightning speed. Go UF!!

Very Diverse – In walking around the UF campus, you will come in contact with people of every race, economic background, religion and sexual orientation. I think that most people at UF are very tolerant of these differences.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
