Variety for the Adventurous – Gainesville has a wide variety of places to eat especially if you are vegetarian. If you're willing to leave behind the many chain options there are some one-of-a kind restaurants that are great!

Health & Safety:
Relatively Safe Atmosphere – I rarely feel unsafe on the University of Florida's campus. The UF alert system helps to keep students aware of attacks and incidents in the area and SNAP provides great services to help students stay safe after dark. Most safety concerns seem to be derived from the decisions of those involved.

Drinking Is Popular – There isn't much peer pressure to do drugs or do alcohol. Hear lots about drugs on campus but have't actually seen anything.
College Junior 2011-12-24T06:40:13Z
Not Too Shabby – I feel like the dining hall doesn't really fill you up, and the taste is average. Fortunately, there are lots of great options to spend flexbucks when I'm craving variety.

Very Good and No Complaints – The facilities are really great, and offer so many different activities. It is also very nice that getting to the athletic centers are super easy. The libraries are great places to study, and I can always find an empty table to do work.

Doesn't Really Effect Much at All – The only terrible thing with weather in UF is that it gets really really really hot during the summer where you start sweating like crazy by just sitting out in the sun. It's very humid. The weather is also very fickle. It usually rains randomly but usually around 3pm and also pretty frequently but very light rain. During the Winter, weather changes within hours. It can be freezing like crazy one minute and hot and humid the next. This winter, i'm wearing shorts for most of the time and it's currently December. However, because we don't have snow or anything violent usually, it does not affect classes. Heavy Rain could cancel sports activities but not classes unless the professors really feel that they should cancel.

School is very strict with security. Getting into dorms require keys to at least two doors or more. There are blue towers everywhere and all students are notified if there is slight trouble on campus or near campus by email. Police are all over campus which makes it nearly impossible to speed on campus without getting a ticket. You have to be quiet after quiet hours or you do get written up.

Very Busy – The computer lab at the reitz union usually has a line where you have to sit outside. This is often during the weekdays. You should keep in mind that it will take at least 30 minutes to print a single paper out. Also there is wireless throughout the entire campus as long as you have your school ID and password. However, throughout my semesters the entire campus has dealt with internet wireless failure. Wireless failures can last from 30 to hours. You should always have a backup reliable.

Buses Are Good and Bad – The buses run everywhere so that makes it really convenient. However, if you miss the first bus, you risk being late to class because you wait, at maximum, 25 minutes for the next one to arrive. Also, sometimes the buses are extremely crowded and full and so you either stand squished uncomfortably to the person next to you, or you have to wait for the next one.

Very Easy to Get Around – Gainesville RTS makes it so easy to get around town. However, it is a bit limited and there are many of the same things. Many events occur on-campus and the gyms are great, so I find myself hanging out with people on-campus or in their apartments that are a bus ride away. It is a bit expensive to go out but the atmosphere is friendly since everyone is a Gator fan !

Although the housing off-campus is relatively cheap, easy to find, and have good transportation systems to and from campus, they are a bit unsafe and can be a bit intimidating to live in. If people living on-campus worry about the shootings, batteries, rape, etc happening on-campus, I cannot imagine what people off-campus must feel !

Best Value – I love the University of Florida. The classes are difficult, the social scene is one of the best in the country and you get the best education for the little you have to pay to go here. The sports teams are always good and there is ample opportunity to do fun things.
College Senior 2011-12-23T20:04:45Z
Parking is not a good thing at all. Its always easier to take the bus then have to find a parking spot on campus. Its also cheaper since parking decals cost over $100.

The whole town has a down to earth feel to it. The downtown is what you expect from a southern town but its new construction has stretched the town so that it appears much larger. There are many eateries that are just amazing and UF has many great sports teams to root on.

Not at All. It's a little folder than I'm used too but I enjoy it. It also rains a lot and that makes it colder. If you have an umbrellla with you and a jackt, it's not bad at all
College Junior 2011-12-23T00:20:32Z
Horrible. Never enough available parking spots and with the types of decals you can only park in certain places.

They are pretty up front and clear about what will happen if you are caught drinking, and they enforce it do fairly.

Very Satisfied – I overwhelmed at the vast number of engineering degrees at UF! Not only was I able to find a major to my liking, but UF made it very easy to find the right one. And its easy! You will definitely find the right for you at UF.

I Am Very Fortunate – I was fortunate enough to receive a full scholarship to the University of Florida, which was a big relief to me considering my lack of resources to pay for college. I did however, run in to a few roadblocks, but it was something that could have been prevented anyway.

To be honest, going out at night to parties or clubs and bars was not a big thing this past semester. I have gone out with friends on some occasions, but in general, I would give nightlife in Gainesville an average score, as it is hardly any different from my hometown with even less variety.

No Opinion – I know little to nothing about the Greek life. Never have been interested and have never encountered someone in it enough to know about it.
College Senior 2011-12-22T23:02:20Z
Drug Scene – Although I have seen drug and alcohol consumption on the outskirts of town, UF has always proved to be clean of any kind of activity.
College Junior 2011-12-22T23:01:45Z
A Mix – I've seen that the majority of students are white. Yet there are plenty of Asians, African Americans, and Hispanics as well. Since I live in the International dorm I am well acquainted with all the foreigners and I can say that they have never had a problem with anyone before.

At the beginning of every semester, rest assured that students at UF will be handed out all sorts of coupon booklets specific to off-campus dining options. With the fact that the city of Gainesville is relatively small with several free transportation systems available to students, the additional advantage of student discounts and plentiful coupons are enough motivation to send us out for lunch.
College Senior 2011-12-22T22:57:37Z
General Campus Aesthetics – The extensive, intricate gardening and brick buildings give UF a welcoming feel. The UF campus always looks in great condition, and with that comes a positive outlook for the day. Even on rainy days, the beauty of my school motivates me to get to class and carry on with the day.
