Ready to Fine You on the Spot – I have my car here and its very convenient to me. But the rules here are extremely stict. You are not allowed to back into a spot because then you will be considered facing traffic and that's a violation on campus so you getg a ticket. If your over the line at all they also give you a ticket. The UF loves to fine you on parking issues... serioulsy! And then it is a pain because you can only park in your color area so like for freshman it's not very close at all. Also, during home football game weekends we must move our cars and can only park in specific areas because they sell our spots to visitors on the weekend. It's all a major pain but having my car here is really nice and that way I can go home whenever and go shopping as well.

The Convenience of Living on Campus – I like living on campus because of how close I am to everything like my classes and the football stadium! The dorms are pretty nice and it's a great way to make new friends. The only bad thing I can even think of is how you have to park your car far away so sometimes it's a hassle to go off campus

I Like It – UF was my only choice besides UCF because I only applied to two colleges. The campus is nice and I love the trees all over campus. I can actually see the changes that comes with fall like the leaves changing colors and falling. I was never able to see that before. The classes can be hard but there are lots of places to get help with the learning centers, tutoring zone or study edge. However the ch, 2045 teachers (Mitchell) is horrible at teaching which is why my grade isn't up to par this semester. A great majority of my chm class is using some other tutoring help to get them through chm. Depending on the classes and major you choose, it can be pretty challenging. They also provide lots of events to attend so there's always something to do but there are also many quiet spots on campus that i like where you can avoid the large mass of people and relax or study in silence.

Strict Bike/Skateboarding Rules – The campus police can be pretty strict if bikers or skateboarders don't obey the rules of the road. You can get tickets for not stopping at stop signs and things like that. Also skateboarders aren't allowed to use the roads or the bike lanes even though it would potentially be easier for the skateboarder and safer for pedestrians on the sidewalks who could get run over. It's too crowded to skateboard on the sidewalk when they could use the roads which aren't as crowded.

Free Printing Is Great – The computer lab in the Reitz Union at UF allow students to print 250 pages per semester for free. This is great for when I forgot to print something for class or my printer runs out of ink. Other than that I don't think you can print free of charge anywhere else. But I don't use the other computer labs that much anyways.
College Junior 2011-11-16T02:26:30Z
The computer labs at UF are often crowded, however, on the second floor of the Reitz, the printing is free and the computers generally function well. I believe within thee next year the building that houses one of the main labs will be renovated and more computers will be added. Overall, access to computers is good.

What a Beautiful Day – The weather, since i've been in gainesville, has been nothing short of amazing. Granted it was hot over summer, the fall semester has experienced constant days of sunshine and comfortable temperature that is hard to complain about. It is going to get cold pretty soon, but nothing beats bundling up with a big blanket and a beautiful girl on a cold day.

with over 50,000 students attending the University of Florida, parking is often hard to come by depending on what time of day it is. Many students with cars leave them parked all week to avoid losing a valuable parking spot. Don't even think about finding a spot on game day either.

Choices, Choices, Choices – There are 2 major dining halls on campus that can be used with the meal plan options. However, there are a variety of other options that students can use flex bucks or other forms of payment at. I never cannot find something that appeals to my appetite at the time.

Everyone is nice around the entire town. There are a lot of activities/contests/classes that motivate students to be healthy and exercise. There is always an event going on at the school or city.

Limited Labs, Full Wireless – Entire campus has wireless access for all students and facaulty, but the labs typically are crowded and use older computers
College Junior 2011-11-13T18:46:25Z
Good Options – I don't dine on campus (I cook in my dorm), but on the few occasions that I have gone out I've been satisfied. There are a good amount of healthy and vegetarian options, but every time I've gone to a campus dining location it has been so crowded that I wait for a while and I can see/taste that my meal was put together in a hurry.

Wireless Access Is Decent. I have my own laptop and printer, so I wouldn't know what to say about the student labs and printing center quality. However, the wireless access is great in places such as the library and other popular "study spots," but it is often weak and faulty in the dorms. For example, the internet on the 14th floor of my building disconnects occasionally, and the connection inside the room is very weak. Overall, the reliability and connection strength isn't too much of a problem.

Gainesville Food – There are so many off campus restaurants of all different types. There are a lot of vegetarian friendly restaurants and really just a restaurant for any type of food you are craving.
College Junior 2011-11-10T05:53:25Z
the food could have better quality, especially on weekends, i usually cook at home>

Agriculture.... the Teachers Have Been Out in the Field Too – I love the teachers i have right now. They love their subject, and have tons of experience in the field too. They know their stuff. It isn't all just theory to them!

Variation and Exposure – In a certain area of campus, there are always people promoting their club or organization. They are helping the community or bringing awareness to causes. It allows students to learn about things they never would have the opportunity to explore

I Don't Have Much Experience – I haven't received any financial aid at my school because I don't fit the requirements. UF doesn't give away much financial aid except in special cases.

It's very easy to use the RTS bus system whether you're using the campus or city bus routes. There are plenty of busses that come every ten minutes during prime hours. They are clean and free for students. They stop at convenient off-campus locations and stop near classes on campus. Transportation around Gainesville in a car is very difficult sometimes because of the extreme traffic. There's traffic in Gainesville every day from about 2 pm to 7 pm and pretty much all the time in certain areas on the weekends.

Good Computer, Internet, and Printer Access – Uf has computers available in a lot of different locations on campus. It's very possible to find a computer in the libraries or the Hub, except perhaps during exams. Internet is always very fast and reliable on campus. Printers are available at the union and each student receives a few hundred free printed pages each semester. There are also printers at the Hub but you have to pay a few cents for pages. I find it very easy to use computer labs and printers on campus, although I do bring my own laptop with me anyway. It's also very easy to get laptop/computer help at the help desk in the Hub.

Getting financial aid at UF is difficult because of the level of competition between students for scholarships. Also, scholarships and financial aid is not heavily advertised. If you want financial aid, you must seek it out on your own.

There are several options for getting around. Buses are very convenient and numerous, and will take you wherever you want to go. Bikes are a common way to get around campus, as is walking. At night, there is a service called SNAP, which runs seven days a week and will take UF students all over campus for free. There are also transportation services that you can use that cost money, but the UF services suffice to get you from Point A to Point B.

Housing around the University of Florida is copious and varied. Pricing ranges, but most apartment/house living ranges between $500-$650 for monthly rent. There are locations near to campus that are relatively inexpensive, as well as nice apartment complexes that are more pricey. Overall, there are several options for off-campus housing, and with enough research you can find the place to fit your needs best. The university itself partners with apartment complexes in order to offer students deals and to promote their properties.

Not at All Strict – From my personal observations, as long as students don't fight or do anything illegal, there is no problem.

Health & Safety:
Campus Safety – UF has one secure campus! To be an open campus university, I feel completely safe. The University's police department has blue emergency telephones scattered around campus so if there ever an emergency, just pick up the phone and it records for about a minute and half, ensuring that if anything happens before help arrives, they'll have records of sounds that could be clues. There are also signs posted on routes that aren't lit at night, suggested you take a lit path instead.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
