College Prowler Take
Most hard drugs, it seems, are not particularly popular on campus. Pot has something of a following (for better or for worse, this town is famous for its “Gainesville Gold”), and ecstasy, Rohypnol (“roofies”), and a few others have shown themselves in some places. Beer and hard liquor are the usual limits for most people here, with pot coming in at a popular but not all-pervasive second place. Of course, there are students at UF with bigger, more expensive, more dangerous drug habits, but it’s not hard to steer clear of them or the people they buy from; in fact, you’d have to do a little work to steer into it. Well, except maybe at night in the scarier parts of east Gainesville. One can only guess about the things that go on in that section of town; it’s probably not baseball cards they’re trading down there. Students Speak Out

There is definitely a lot of drinking and marijuana use going on at UF. A lot of students also get into other drugs, but you won’t have trouble finding friends who consider drinking to be the extent of their drug use. |

I don’t know much about the drug scene. However, the University caters to more than 40 thousand students. You are going to have everyone from your habitual users to your party indulgers. I believe this is what you would find anywhere. |

I think it is pretty typical of the drug scene on other university campuses. There are, of course, drugs on campus (mostly pot and alcohol). Sneaking a joint out the window of a dorm was not uncommon when I was living on campus. Sneaking a shot in your room was even more common. |
