Let us establish one thing right away: parking is atrocious at UF. If you are an incoming student, just think of this: there are more than 50,000 students in school and do you possibly think there are more than 50,000 parking spots for everyone? No. The parking patrol (might as well call them "Seminoles") are the enemy. Most students get ticketed at least once during their first semester. It seems like the parking police hunt for their prey as they park in the wrong area or when students have to move furniture into "luxurious" dorm rooms. The police have no remorse for you. When the tickets pile up, it can become a hassle for your bank account because they usually come at $30 a pop.

The best option for motorized transportation is the scooter. There is scooter parking everywhere, and you can see these bad boys virtually everywhere on campus. Scooters zoom by going at a top speed of 40 mph! The great thing about scooters is that there is parking right outside of your dorm hall! Be weary, though; if scooter parking does become overcrowded, you may have to double up in a spot, and if your wheel is outside of the white lines, have fun paying that ticket, too!
