There's unlimited access depending on your plan but having convenient food decently close by is always helpful. It does get old but if you eat a lot for whatever reason then this plan is just too good.

The freshman dorms at UGA are really old for the most part but there's generally someone available to help you with whatever problems you have. It's also not exactly cheap but it does cover quite a few things. Lastly, plans to redo the current freshman dorms are in the works so that'll probably be good to go in a few years.

Anyone that goes to the University of Georgia will tell you about Saturdays "between the hedges". Football pride runs through the student body's blood and there is plenty of rallying cries behind other sports like our nationally ranked gymnastics team. Club and intramural teams are available for the students and have a large variety of activities to choose from.

Downtown Athens is the most fun you can have at any college town, hands down. There is always something going on from the famous music scene to the Twilight bike race. UGA is known for being a party school, so if that scene excites you then you'll fit right in here. All the students have such pride for their school and get involved in a ton of different ways.

Campus is gorgeous with plenty of laying out space for the nice days. The facilities are all very well kept. The athletic center is huge and free to all it's students and all the libraries are all enormous. If you ever get hungry or are bored at all, a trip to downtown Athens is sure to have something for you to do. UGA is rich with tradition from sports to the famous arch at the front of campus.

Parking is great for freshman living in some of the dorms because it has spots right outside. However, the spots fill up really fast so you have to get lucky a lot. Other spots around campus are available but hard to get to. Just use the bus and save some of the hassle.

Whatever it is that you are looking for, UGA has it. There is no shortage of things to do, ever. Academics are fantastic, the social scene is thriving, and there isn't a club that doesn't exist.

I have only received federal financial aid from UGA thus far. I haven't tried to get anything else because I was fine with just the HOPE scholarship and Pell Grant. But if you start off with good grades coming from high school and going directly into UGA, you'll be set with the Zell Miller scholarship if you continue to maintain the required GPA.

The weather is pretty nice. It doesn't get cold until late November. The cold weather isn't too bad either. It is pretty seasonal except it doesn't snow. But that's just Georgia.

UGA is known to be a party school so there is definitely a lot of alcohol consumption. Drug usage seems to be pretty high but it all depends on when you hang out with those type of people. But I have never witnessed alcohol consumption or drug usage on campus.

UGA has great majors, a ton of choices, all with equally great professors. All business majors with gain a ton of knowledge and experience in one of the best business schools in the nation.

It's hot. If you expect that and humidity, you'll be fine. Now fall and winter are GREAT. It rarely, if ever, snows, and stays warm through November/December at times. Early February is the coldest, and it's usually over 30*F

There are a few clubs that allow 18+, and there are diners open all night long. If you are drinking age, there are opportunities to party all night long. Or if you are a good student, there are cafes and other places open where you can study or read over a cup of java.
College Junior 2013-07-18T20:45:37Z
There are many students who party often, and downtown Athens has a lot of bars. The police ride around on bikes, and I think it's pretty average. I've never been pulled over unnecessarily. You'll get parking tickets if you don't park correctly, but no one really gets in trouble for public drunkenness unless they are driving under the influence or get into an accident.

The assistantships in MSW pay a little over $1000/month for 50+ hours of work, as well as waiving most of the tuition (down to $25/semester)

There is definitely diversity in racial/ethnicity, economic background, political beliefs, religion, and sexual orientation. Compared to say, Los Angeles, it still only has one color of every crayon - not necessarily every shade of every color.

UGA's Social Work program is one of the top in the nation, and reputable in the state. I know many people who have great jobs in the field who graduated from UGA. I haven't narrowed down my career choice completely, but that's the beauty of a degree in Social Work. I don't have to. There are opportunities for social workers everywhere from the military to hospitals from school systems to homeless shelters.

The process for getting in as a MSW wasn't difficult in some aspects - like the essay, for example. However, learning to navigate the system(s) and having multiple login usernames and passwords was very confusing. You have to have your immunization records handy, and if you are like me, you haven't seen those in 20 years. There are a LOT of charts to fill out that aren't very clear in the instructions, so some of my friends and I did not feel very confident that we were doing it correctly. It didn't cost as much as many other schools, it had a much more lax deadline, and the checklist was self-explanatory and assisted in being able to keep organized. They also require that you send EVERYTHING together in one package, which was a hassle at first, but ended up being nice in the end so I didn't forget which things I had already sent, didn't duplicate things, or didn't have things lost in the mail at different times. Don't forget you have to apply to the school separately than the program you want to apply to - they may not have the same deadlines for financial aid or admissions.

So many great shows happen in Athens. Seriously, if you can't find something to do in Athens, you're doing something wrong!

Overall convenient, but still no convenient bus from north to south campus without walking halfway between them for the nearest bus stop.

Lots of places with great prices, especially for students!

Fantastic for dining hall food, and a great value!

All my classes were hard as hell and I worked my ass off to get the grades I did, which still weren't what I was used to getting in high school. Most honors classes are significantly harder than non-honors, although some hand out A's because the students are only in there to meet a course requirement.
College Sophomore 2013-07-16T21:33:38Z
During my first year here the weather was pretty much the same all year long. Mild temperatures, the first few weeks were hot and a few weeks in mid january were somewhat cold. Classes were never cancelled for weather, it never snowed Walking in the rain can suck, but there are busses that help with that. When it is raining, the busses can get really crowded and wet.

Almost always a computer available in the science library or slc. Most are PCs but there are a lot of Macs as well. Printing is easy through WEPA kiosks located throughout campus, print and copy in the Tate center, and at every library. Paws, the wifi throughout campus, can get slow during peak hours and sometimes doesn't work at all. However, if you can get connected through LAN its significantly faster.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
