I entered UGA thinking Greek life would be everywhere and I'd have to grit my teeth and bare it. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find it's not as prominent as you think. If you don't want to be involved with Greek life, it's pretty easy to avoid. None of my close friends are Greek but I know plenty of people who are and they're very nice. It's not the stereotypical "of they're just stupid". I mean of course there are kids that are .. super bright and happen to be in Greek life.. it's more of a coincidence. Many of the houses require their people to input study hours in the houses.

I am very happy with my major and program. I'm a Linguistics major and all the classes that are required for my major are classes I would enjoy. I would definitely choose to be a Linguistics major again because I love language. In Linguistics we study the languages of the world and how the different sounds are produced, how the languages are similar or different to each other and I love it. I would like to interpret for a living. I'm pretty confident that I will not have a problem finding a job because with the way technology and businesses are growing interpreters are needed more and more.

Off-campus housing is very plenty at UGA. Many students do off-campus housing because the high room and board cost.

Nightlife at UGA is amazing! Always stuff to do, always place to go, great times are plenty.

Usually sunny, however Georgia weather can be very bipolar, especially in the spring.
College Freshman 2013-06-22T20:08:32Z
Very bad at giving you the place you asked for. However they do well on reassignments.
College Freshman 2013-06-22T20:07:04Z
Not a lot of communication between the students and the parking services.

There are an abundance of options to eat at in Athens. There are local restaurants all throughout downtown Athens but there are also chain restaurants towards the the further away from downtown you get. All the local places are excellent with true Athens atmosphere. Menu prices for most restaurants are pretty college budget friendly but some are more expensive, maybe for special occasions. Convenience is amazing all within walking distance of campus. There is a wide variety of options for food. Transmet, Herschel's, and Mama's Boy are incredible, just to name a few.

Sports, especially football, are a big deal at UGA. Football games are great and school spirit is overwhelming during game weekends.

There are many facilities on campus. Anything you fancy, we have it!

My law school program is very group oriented. They want us to be a family which is very different from the usual competitiveness law school cater to.

Parking can be hard to find, especially in the more popular lots so it's good to get there early in case you have to drive around and look for a while.

Athens has a ton of student only apartment communities available with different features and a lot of them include some utilities which is nice for saving money. The student apartment complexes are also usually gated for extra safety and several complexes offer a free shuttle service during the day and in the evenings on the weekend for those who don't have a car.

Dorms are never that great but UGA does have better dorms than some of the dorms at other schools that my friends attended. They also have a small selection of private rooms and you can swap dorms anytime so I moved into a double room and left mid semester for a private room.
College Junior 2013-06-18T02:12:36Z
The meal plan is pretty expensive and there's only the 5 day or 7 day option so you can't save money by getting a smaller meal plan like a 7 meals a week plan like some other schools have. The food is pretty good though and they have a lot of special events where they have cool decorations and special menu items. Seating fills up fast at meal times so go at a random time during the day if you want to eat when it's less crowded.

When its sunny, being on campus is a treat with how beautiful it is. The sun truly brings out the simplistic elegance of the surroundings. When it rains though, being on campus with an umbrella will not be a fun thing.

It depends on the time and day, but most of the time parking isn't easy.

Athletics are a HUGE deal at the University of Georgia. The atmosphere for competitions, from football to gymnastics, is insanely awesome. All athletic departments have full support from other departments and the university as a whole. There is not a sport on campus that a UGA student could join and not feel important.

Greek Life is a huge part of UGA. It is also an excellent part at that. You will always find activities and programs featuring Greek Life on campus. A majority of the campus is involved in Greek life, and students could always find a sorority or fraternity to fit into.

Athens campus is beautiful! The buildings are all mostly up to date!

The freshman dorms are small but what do you expect?! The community and atmosphere are great and are really what makes freshman year awesome!

Alcohol is a big deal at uga because of the huge bar scene downtown. Drugs are present but not seen if its not your crowd
College Sophomore 2013-06-17T18:36:23Z
Uga is absolutely amazing! Great social scene in downtown Athens with all of the music, restaurants, and bars! The professors at uga really know what they are teaching and are willing to help you if you contact them personally!

At the Zell Miller Learning Center, which is basically the study building computers are EVERYWHERE so if the place is not too crowded you shouldn't have a time finding a computer to use. But if it's the week before finals or something like that expect to walk around the building multiple times to find a seat or a computer.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
