Athens is the quintessential college town. Downtown is the place to go to eat great food that isn't just from chains and there are tons of bars to grab a drink with friends for any group. The music scene is legendary, the shopping downtown fits into any price range and Athens during football season is unforgettable.

Buses take you everywhere on campus, including some places that are basically off the main campus like health sciences all the way down Prince Ave. and Milledge Ave. I don't have a car and between the UGA buses and walking, I can get almost everywhere I need pretty easily.

I do enjoy my major. It is a demanding workload and takes times to properly balance the course workload with other activities such as organizations and work.

Guys & Girls:
You'll find a vast variety of people from various backgrounds at the university. Many of the students are from Georgia and some can be rather country and redneck. Majority of campus is involved with Greek life and enjoy the night life.

Athens always has a event going on whether it is a concert of some sort or a marathon. As far as traditions go, no one walks under the arches in north campus before completing their bachelor's degree because it is believed that you won't graduate from the university if you do so prior.

My school programs has provided me with numerous study abroad, research, and internship opportunities. Also there downtown Athens is located at the edge of north campus and contains countless eateries, boutiques, and bars allowing for miniature cultural experience of different regions of the world.

Food Is Great – There aren't many colleges are university where you are able to eat as many times as you want for the day. You can at UGA. They try to switch it up the food they serve sometimes. There is access to coffee and ice cream also. If your a vegetarian, there is vegetarian meals available for you. They have special nights where they have a theme and the food is made is connected to that theme. If you decide that you want food from the dining halls, you find your hearts delight at the student center.

The academics here at UGA is top notch. The business program alone is known as one of the best in the country. You get a great education at UGA at a decent price.

As an in-state student, the financial aid process was relatively simple. And didn't have to do much work other than filling out FAFSA.

The best thing about Athens is downtown. But the only thing downtown are clubs and restaurants. Other than downtown, there really isn't much to do in Athens.

I really don't know much about the drug scene. It's probably because of who my friends are. UGA has been known for being a party school (but it has great academics as well). Alcohol seems to be more of a problem. A lot of the students like to go clubbing Thursday night, so not many people are in class on Fridays do to hangovers and lack of sleep.

Transportation at UGA is great. We have about 12 different routes of interest for the campus buses that operate 24/7. On the weekends, campus buses don't run as often, but still run nonetheless. Our college I.D.s qualify us for free transportation within the city of Athens which is great in getting to the nearest supermarket or UGA events held off-campus.

I'm in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Georgia. Being a biology major, I'm obligated to take 4 semesters of organic and inorganic chemistry, 2 semesters of physics, and other classes pertaining to the field of science. The workload is fairly heavy, but definitely doable. I haven't really came across any great internships or job opportunities pertaining to biology located within the city of Athens.

The University of Georgia has a great science program. My major is biology, and courses leading into this field of study is relatively difficult. This is great in helping me to stay grounded and improving my study habits. My school has great, free tutorial programs, and my professors are usually available with any questions that I may have.

Some off-campus housing is relatively close to the main campus. They are also cheaper than living in one of the dorms.

The libraries that we have can prove to be too small at times, meaning that there is not enough room for all the students who want a quiet place to study! Although they are nice and renovated, I wish they had more room. There are many beautiful gardens around campus though and places to sit outdoors! There is a plethora of organizations to join, from the Horticulture Club to Intramural sports!

There is a lot to do in the beautiful town of Athens! It has the best nature ever, with the State Botanical Gardens about 10 minutes away from campus! We have a mall, movie theatre, other shopping centers, plenty of yummy restaurants, and much more. There are street festivals, activities on campus, and so much more! There is always something to do in Athens!

Health & Safety:
I feel pretty safe on campus although there have been several rapes in the past year. I think each student should take care of themselves first and foremost and make sure to always travel in groups, especially at night. Students are willing to help each other out as well as the campus police, so take advantage of these resources.
College Junior 2013-06-03T17:33:39Z
I do not feel that the campus is strict enough about misuse of alcohol and underage drinking. The drinking scene is very large at this school and I do not see the police busting many underage drinkers. There are consequences if you get caught.

Freshman dorms are kind of a walk from where most freshman classes are. It probably doesn't help that those dorms are located on the top of the hill. Upperclassmen dorms are nicer and seem to be quieter. Dorms, like pretty much everything else at UGA, are expensive. Cooking is also kind of inconvenient if you don't have a meal plan.
College Junior 2013-06-01T21:34:52Z
Lots of options, many deliver, and several are open late at night. Price varies depending on the place you go to. Nice thing about campus is you can walk downtown after class and grab a bite to eat or some ice cream.
College Junior 2013-06-01T21:31:20Z
UGA is big on athletics, especially with the football team and the gymnastics team. Athletic events are pretty fun to attend, and school spirit is pretty big too. The regular gym is pretty nice and extensive.
College Junior 2013-06-01T21:27:49Z
Parking fees are outrageous, and sometimes you won't even get the parking lot of your choosing. Parking lots can get filled up rather quickly depending on the time of day. Using public transportation to get to class is possible, but sometimes inconvenient.

I am in Grady, the communications school at UGA. Top notch professors- Grady is one of the best Comm schools in the nation. You are sought out by companies as the cream of the crop.

Any group that you fall in, you would be accepted at UGA.
