There are plenty of activities, clubs and ways to get involved around campus.

They are great, they offer a variety of facilities to meet all their students needs.

Ive never lived on campus so I have no valuable info to offer.

It's somewhat expensive, but there are enough spots for students.

The best dorms, in my opinion, are: the Hill community dorms because the dorm rooms has a lot of space and you have your own air condition control.
The worst options, in my opinion, are: Brumby because you have a big hill you have to climb and you don't control your own air conditioning. Plus the rooms are small.

I think the football team is amazing and the school spirit is absolutely great. I think that sports like soccer, baseball, or tennis could use some more recognition.

The first thing you will notice about UGA: the campus is huge. In typical Georgia fashion, buildings are placed far apart in seemingly random fashion, making for a vast, sprawling campus. This makes getting from class to class a big problem. Luckily, the school has designed an extensive bus system to help students out. But even with 10+ regular routes, getting from class to class can still be an epic struggle. Buses are frequently too packed to even board, meaning you have to wait for the next open one.
Plenty of people also park on campus, but even this is problematic. There is never enough parking to go around, and some of the student lots are far away and extremely inconvenient. And they'll also cost you about $400 per year. So have fun with that.

The bar scene is just like any other college town, just amplified enormously. There are hundreds of bars packed into the teensy area we humorously call "Downtown" Athens. Every night of the week (but especially Thursday-Saturday) expect huge crowds of drunk revelers, girls in skimpy clothing (even in Winter!) and more bros than you can shake a stick at. The bars are all typical southern fun - country cliches, loud music, and crazy-drunk people.
If getting hideously drunk isn't fun for you, you'll feel like an outsider here. However, for the music lovers, there is hope! Athens has a great, and mostly deserved, reputation as a music hub of Georgia. Bands and musicians of all genres play nightly at a variety of great clubs. Concerts are often free or low-cost. If you take the time to find the best concerts, you will definitely be rewarded.

Guys & Girls:
Guys and girls here are typical frat/sorority scum. If that's your thing, you're in luck. But if you have any hesitation about bros that wear extra-short khaki shorts, and girls that wear oversized t-shirts, then please save yourself some misery and don't go here. Please.
Guys and girls here are equally stupid and traditional. Church-goers all around, even with Saturday-night hangovers. Your southern mama would be proud.
That being said, there is a (small) hipster subculture, mainly populating the downtown areas and thriving off the music scene. But they are a largely shunned minority on campus.

Downtown has a decent choice of places to eat. There are a lot of chain restaurants off campus though.

This is definitely a top tier university in the South. The workload is heavier than other schools in the SEC. There are many majors to chose from- basically anything you want to study, you can find it here.
UGA is a research university as well, so we attract some of the top professors in certain areas.

4 dining halls to chose from. Snelling is open 24/7 Monday-Thursday. Great place to socialize or study. Awesome food!

UGA is a very "white campus". The administration does try very hard though to promote diversity. For example, University Housing hosts Diversity Awareness Week at Georgia.

I'm enrolled in the College of Education as a Social Studies Education major. The requirements for the degree are somewhat strenuous (foreign language, many humanities, random required classes). The instructors for the courses are absolutely wonderful though once you get past the introductory EPSY classes.

The best thing to do is to get everything done early. That way if something is not right, you will have time to get it right.

The buses are so unpredictable. You can miss homework's, exams and a lot of things just because the buses take their time to show up.

The police can really be in full effect during the nights of parties and clubs. There aren't much people that can get away with driving and drinking around downtown. If you were to get caught, you would need people in high places to get out of the trouble you are in.

There were very few rainy days, but they were not miserable; keep an umbrella in your backpack at all times, and be open minded to rainy days. The temperature was only very cold for a few weeks- just have warm clothes and keep inside most of the days. The other days were quite comfortable temperatures, and had sunny skies for the majority of them.

The University of Georgia is an elite university. It is known for it's academics and rigor, which is reflected in each student's classes and work load. The professors challenge you, but are willing to help you when you seek help; but they will not go out of their way to help you. Registering is a pain, but becomes easier the more you do it. The workload can become overwhelming, but you have to learn to balance it in a way that allows for you to still succeed. Find what works best for you study wise, and stick to it. Be careful not to take too long to figure out what works, or your grades will suffer!

Convenience can sometimes become a problem if you do not have a car. Otherwise, most places are pretty easily accessible. There is a variety, and most are cheap. The issue with this is that the cheap costs causes for less healthy options.

As an education major that has just begun the program, I have wonderful things to say about this major so far. The teachers care about you on a personal level, and take the effort to know you and make sure you feel you are graded fairly. I have also heard wonderful reviews from teachers who have experienced teachers from the University of Georgia. This program is one of the best in the state at preparing students to be successful in all they do for their teaching career.

If you don't like rain, Athens isn't the town for you. When it rains, it POURS here. It's also frustrating to be in a Georgia town because mornings may be cold enough for a heavy hoodie and by afternoon time you're stuck walking around with it stuffed in your backpack or in your hand. But when the sun shines and even when it's cloudy, Athens is an enjoyable place to be outside.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
