The buses are great, and more than likely you will have a friend who drives if necessary. Also the cabs are cheap, and almost everything is within walking distance (restaurants, gas stations, etc.)

This school is approximately 40% rich white girl. That is not an exaggeration. There just isn't a lot of non-white people here.

Pretty nice. It's certainly warmer than anything you'd get in a more Northern climate. The summers are like saunas, though.

There is no strictness at all. You can get away with just about anything here. So I've heard, at least.

There are SO many options in Athens. You can find anything from apartment complexes designed especially for students, many with amenities like a pool, workout room, etc. Those usually run anywhere from about $250-$500 per room, depending. There are also plenty of cute houses and condos near campus. Huge variety of affordable housing options, most of which are quite close to campus.

There are computer labs all over campus. I usually have no trouble finding access to a computer. Fast and reliable wireless is available all over campus. Most people have their own laptops, so if you do not have one and need to use the computers in the labs, they are typically available with no problem. Printing is reasonably priced and you can do so at many places across campus.

The transportation can be really good sometimes. There are times though where there will be so many people trying to use the bus that you can't get on. Or other times you end up waiting 20 minutes for the right bus.

I would say the amount of study abroad opportunities that UGA provides is what sets it apart along with the different opportunities to do research.

I would have to say that the food hasn't lived up to the reputation that they give it at orientation. ECV is by far my favorite because it does have the best food. Most people like Snelling the best because it is open 24 hours.

The campus life here is really enjoyable. You can always find quiet and secluded places to study if you don't enjoy the packed areas. The campus itself is very beautiful. Ramsey is like no other athletic complex out there.

Late Winter/ early Spring it rains pretty frequently but rainy days are wedged between really nice and sunny days. Athens is beautiful rain or shine but when it rains it's a really biting type of cold because it's also fairly windy. The weather is usually pretty sunny though. It hasn't snowed so much recently it has only reached really cold points so I would suggest jackets of varying warmth.

It's easy to complain about the bus system when you're running late to class but it's actually a pretty good system. The weekend and evening routes could use some work for they are limited in there stops on campus from about 7pm at night on and on the weekends. Those routes are fewer and far between but a normal weekday route is fairly reliable and will take you practically anywhere. Also the city bus routes often parallel the on campus routes and the on campus routes make stops at popular off-campus student housing. It's completely possible to not have a car but I would recommend it for nights and weekends. There is a new app that tells you what time the bus is expected to show up at your stop that tracks you by GPS. It's not always accurate because the buses are sometimes early or late but improvements are currently being made and it's rumored that it will actually be tracking the buses live sometime soon.

There are always computers available in the Student Learning Center or Tate. There are also countless numbers of labs around campus and I believe this new printing system allows you to print from dining halls now. There are so many special programs like media work and photoshop that you can gain access to as well! If you are in need of computer around noon be ready to scour SLC for one because that's the busiest time but there's never been a time I couldn't find one. Plus free wifi throughout campus at all times.

The financial aid process is usually a headache but it eventually comes to an end. However, I don't always feel like I'm receiving all the aid possible.

I dont live on campus, but i live in an apartment that is equidistant from downtown and campus. It is very nice that campus is right next to downtown.

I am an international affairs major, as part of SPIA. It is a smaller college so you have a lot of the same people in your classes, which I really like. The classes are very interesting and the teachers are all knowledgable and interested in their areas.

Being that the University of Georgia is a public university I knew that the academics would not be too overwhelmingly challenging. However, I believe that the core classes are too easy. The classes in my major are more challenging and interesting.

Health & Safety:
The UGA campus is very safe especially during the day. Campus police is always around. At night, be cautious like you would anywhere. Off campus however can be unsafe alone. Always lock doors and keep your valuables in sights, even though I've left my laptop with total strangers and it was fine. The students are usually trustworthy. Although you might wanna watch out for the drunk people!

There are chain restaurants all within walking distance of campus, but the small mom and pop restaurants around downtown and Athens in general are amazing! It's a college town so most owners and businesses try to stay cheap, most have student discounts. Pauly's, Little Italy, Fuzzy's, The Taco Shack, The Grill and The Grit are all wonderful.

Wide range of residence halls for freshmen and upperclassmen. Freshmen are required to live on-campus their first year. Each residence hall or grouping is it's own community and really strives for that atmosphere. Compared to living off-campus, the residence halls are very affordable. Super convenient around campus and very easily accessible.

The freshman experience is incomplete without living in the dorms. The best options are Creswell, Russel or Brumby. These are the three biggest freshman dorms. Most of the dorms on campus are surrounded by dining halls. There is always something to do in the dorms; these dorm experiences are memories that last forever.

There are so many attractions here at UGA. UGA is an amazing college town. There are so many things to do and so many people to meet. Atlanta is around an hour away from this campus. One visit will change anyones mind on going to another school.

The police force is on top of reckless behavior of students. Underage drinking is strictly prohibited. The UGA PD keep an eye on their students.

Many many many parties here! There is a bar/club nearby at Downtown Athens. You do not need to be 21 to be accepted in, you just need a drivers license or proof of age ( at least 18). The UGA shuttles run at night until pretty late so transportation is provided if you do not drive.

Many of the apartments here have small rooms and can be costly depending on the number of residents who reside there.
Pros: Convenient and close to campus. Free parking. Shuttle buses every 15 or so minutes. Totally safe!
Cons: Not that spatial and can be costly the less residents that reside in a house.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
