The Terry College of Business is amazing at what they do. People are so well-prepared for the business world when they leave UGA. I am not in the Terry College yet, because students have to apply to that college after being accepted to the University and completing all of their required courses for Terry, but I am well on my way, and am extremely excited to be a student at that college. The teachers are so professional, helpful, and driven. I love my program.

This campus is huge, and there are so many organizations that you can take part in. There is really something for everyone. Most people are active in several organizations, and there are always wonderful events happening on campus. The performing arts center and the fine arts center are really amazing. There are shows going on constantly, and the talent that these students are equipped with never ceases to amaze me. There are lots of places to study, hang out with friends, or just relax here on campus. Living in dorms through at least the first year really helps Freshman to become acquainted with campus and find their nitch.

Although there are always police officers downtown to arrest out-of-control students on "Thirsty Thursdays," the drinking laws in this entire town do not seem to be enforced. As long as you are physically attractive and have a student ID, you can get into most bars. And in the dorms, RAs usually know when students have been drinking, yet they never say anything about it unless the students are breaking some other rule. However, no one here is going to force students to drink (unless of course they are part of the Greek system, in which case the older brothers or sister will practically shove it down their throats). There are plenty of things to do besides illegal substance abuse, and apart from underage alcohol consumption, I have only been made aware of a few instances of drug use. All in all, I guess I would say that it is easy to get, if someone wants it, but also very easy to avoid if they don't.

I feel that there is too much emphasis on fraternities and sororities. Even in the campus ministry group that I was attending for a while, people in the Greek system got special opportunities and attention that non-Greek students were not offered. And that was supposed to be all about God, not socialites. Also, I find that nearly everyone here is white. And not only that, but the same kind of white. For the most part, students dress the same, talk the same, and even have the same haircuts. I came from a school where white kids were a minority, and I liked being a minority. The diversity that we had at my high school was really refreshing. I was one of the only natural blondes at my school. As it should be. There really aren't that many in the world and seeing them everywhere I go seems unnatural. There are virtually NO Hispanic and Latino students at this college, and few African Americans. Other minority groups seem to accurately represented, but the aforementioned two are really not. However, there are definitely some positive social opportunities here for non-Greek students as well. There are so many wonderful campus organizations to get involved in and I, personally, have made some terrific friends this way. And the music scene here is pretty happening, also. There are always little shows going on downtown and sometimes I enjoy attending those when money permits. It is not a bad school, especially if you are looking to join a fraternity or sorority. But either way, the teachers here are all top-notch and extremely accommodating. Even if I don't find many non-Greek friends, at least I am getting a solid education.

I am a biology major, which is one of the hardest majors at UGA. So, the workload and curriculum is a little more challenging than other majors. Get to know your professors since lecture halls are how most classes are.
College Senior 2013-01-23T22:25:05Z
UGA has various types of classes to choose from. Registration process is easy. Just go to rate my professor to find out if the teach is good. Study abroad is a great thing to do. Workload is definitely more than hight school

The types of off-campus dining options are unlimited
College Sophomore 2013-01-23T01:22:47Z
SO many great restaurants that are unique to Athens that are just absolutely great. Downtown Athens in just overflowing with restaurants there, it's a great place to visit when the meal plan gets a little boring. Everyone I know absolutely loves the variety and quality of restaurants that we have here.

Don't get caught. If you choose to engage in ilegal activities, do it with discretion because getting caught by police will result in academic probation. Don't get caught with a fake ID because it is a serious offense and do NOT get caught out in public drunk.

The meal plan is phenomenal compared to many schools. Depending on whether or not you get the 5 or 7 day meal plan, you have unlimited access and meals while the dining halls are open. There is even a dining all 24/7 Monday-Friday @ 2PM, which is really convenient if you had a late meeting or want to study with some food at night.

Health & Safety:
There are definitely police on campus, but especially when you venture into the downtown area, I wouldn't recommend walking around alone at night just to be on the safe side. UGA is relatively safe for being so large, but it is very much a part of the Athens community, meaning you should not be ignorant to people that may not be students.

Although I have never been to a computer lab, I hear they are reliable. However, printing does cost and that sometimes gets annoying because sometimes, you don't have your ID card or cash. However, the librarians are very helpful and other students have printers sometimes who are willing to share.

Varsity sports, such as football, gymnastics, basketball, and soccer are very important to the student body. During football season, the entire school is all about football and so are the students. For example, even the campus buses have Go Dawgs! Beat the (whoever we are playing that week). The school spirit is very high and fun to be around because everybody loves the Dawgs!! Go Dawgs!!

Food is good but often repeats. Understand that is common with cafeteria. There are lots of other options at student center.

Lots of buses to take you anywhere you need to go, but some take a long time to come

My financial aid was mostly the amount that was expected, but it was a pain to actually obtain that money from them.

I really enjoy my program. I am Pre pharmacy. It is a difficult course load but anything worth having will be difficult. Many internships are available and teachers are very helpful most of the time with appointment.

The parking prices are really high but for the most part the hours of parking in the lots are reasonable and usually there are spots available.

There are a lot of fraternities and sororities on campus. The parties are fun but they also do a great deal of charity work.

There are a variety of choice of food to eat off-campus at UGA. Variety restaurants. Each carries a different style, awesome customer service.

UGA has excellent Athletics committees. Their commitment to sports were extraordinary. Nowhere else in GA you can find such passion with sports.

Health & Safety:
I think that security is very apparent on campus. While some crimes are still present, this is inevitable. Luckily, when there is danger and news of crimes committed, date rape, for example, students are notified via email. Additionally, police officers are present on campus and are seen regularly by students. In many of the residence halls, students must show and scan their UGA ID card to enter, which greatly increases the feeling of security among students living on campus.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
