UGA has literally everything you need. Ramsey is a giant athletic center featuring a pool, a mile-run way, weights..everything you can possibly think of to work out with. There's a giant library, an art gallery, dance center, music auditorium, an entire building with lots of quiet study places, private rooms for group studying, computers, and student centers dedicated to various aspects (i.e. LGBTQ center). The campus is very vast with plenty of places to hang out with friends, meet with professors, or study in peace.

Lots of computers for everyone to use, plenty of printing options including brand new printing Kiosks in places for wireless printing such as dining halls, lots of outlets to plug in your laptops or other electronic devices, and nearly campus-wide WiFi. If you don't have a laptop it certainly is not an issue here. Only reason I can't give an A+ is because it seems that frequently used keyboards and mouses are dirty, especially the labs reserved for testing.

there are several routes and stops, which can get confusing at times. Overall though, the buses are quick and run on schedule, making them great for getting from one end of the campus to another.

I think that the school does a good job at balancing what's is important to focus on, as opposed to being nit-picky about little things. Generally they are understanding that it is college and people do stupid things, but are good at recognizing serious threats and problems.

There are a ton of great options, ranging anywhere from cheap japanese to high-class gourmet choices when you are feeling fancy. Plus the Chick-fil-A's in the area are top notch, with student discount nights and really great service.

I have loved being involved in supporting the Dawgs! The football games are a blast and there are countless other options if you are a sports fan. There are also Intramural Sports for students to be involved in, and include tons of options, ranging from flag football to table tennis.

The process is pretty easy, all I had to do was fill out the application before I came to UGA and they just renew it each year. Money always comes on time without any problems.

Voted number one party school in the nation! The downtown scene is awesome, most bars participate in power hour (drink deals from 9-11) and there are tons of bars for every personality. Most are a pretty good mixture of people, for example, there are not any bars that are exclusively Greek. Gamedays are awesome, and frat houses throw band parties that basically anyone can go to numerous times throughout the year. There is also a program called Dawgs After Dark for people who choose not to drink, and it puts on different themed events on some Fridays.

Finding off campus housing is pretty easy in athens, there are flyers everywhere not to mention there are plenty of people to talk to and give you insight about where they live. There are tons of 3 and 4 bedroom options, and many neighborhoods have gated entry, pools, tanning salons, clubhouses, etc. Most of the better housing runs from $300-500 per month

At the University of Georgia, all the professors are great and offer flexible office hours. Every professor I had last semester was very willing to meet with me and discuss grades, etc. There are many tutoring sessions and again, professors are open to helping students. Lots of students form study groups and some RAs even help tutor or hold the sessions. The work load was heavy, and the classes are difficult, but it is nothing that cant be handled if time is manages correctly.

I don't think I have seen anyone doing drugs yet. Some students smoke cigarettes, but at UGA, at least where I hang out, I haven't seen any illegal drug use. The most popular activity is drinking and that is very common.

I am only a freshman, but I am a pre-med major and there are a lot of opportunities on campus. I am part of AMSA which helps fill me in on medical opportunities. Although I am not in many of my major classes yet, the professors I have had are great and the counselors in my office and wonderful!

As long as you aren't careless about drinking in dorms - especially underage or with underage people - you shouldn't get caught. I can't speak for drugs. Alcohol is common here. It's not too difficult to find someone to buy it for you.
College Junior 2012-12-12T21:03:49Z
You would have to be in a specific place and know the right people to have access to drugs. I have heard of dealers getting expelled with possession of much heavier things, but marijuana is the biggest one. Occasionally you may smell some folks smoking it.

Health & Safety:
I have only been here one semester and I have already heard of several cases of rape on campus. Though I know things like this can happen everywhere and the campus police are good about tending to these issues I am a female and issues such as this do concern me

If you are a freshman, it is easy to get parking on campus because you will hardly ever use your car. The lots are right near your dorm. If you are a sophomore or higher without a parking pass, you have very few options on campus. I used to park in an apartment complex that did not have a gate, but was always afraid of being towed. Luckily, school transit is everywhere.
College Junior 2012-12-10T01:19:40Z
If you do not draw too much attention to yourself, then you should be okay. We always drank in the dorms and did not get in trouble. Sometimes, RA's would drink with us. However, make sure all of your alcohol is out of the dorm when you go home for long breaks because they will check your fridge for things that will spoil. If you violate a drug or alcohol policy, you may have to take a class. If you do it more than once, you may lose your housing or your status as a student. The campus police will get you in trouble for almost anything. A lot of people get parking tickets.

There are things to do for everyone in Athens. If you enjoy any kind of music, you will be able to find a concert to go to. Downtown is filled with bars, entertainment, and awesome restaurants that are walking distance from campus. You must be 21+ to get into most of the bars, but there are some exceptions. There are rarely cover charges and cab rides are pretty cheap. There are also a lot of DD programs that will take you home for free.

The newer facilities are amazing, but since the University has been here for quite some time, some buildings are very old! However, all facilities are equipped with the resources that one would look for on campus. I believe they are working diligently to remodel many of the older dorms!

Downtown is excellent for those who are above the age of 21. However, there are limited activities for students who are under the age of 21. There are only two movie theaters (last movies show around 10:00PM), a mall (closes at 9:00PM), and only a few restaurants that are opened past midnight. Every three of four months, Union will host "Dawgs After Dark", an event designed to create a fun environment for those under 21 years of age. Ir occurs on Friday nights from 10:00PM-2:00AM. My freshman, sophomore, and junior year consisted of Friday sleepovers in the dorm with friends where we baked cookies, did homework, and rented Redbox movies for fun. Though I go downtown occasionally, my Friday nights are pretty much the same!

University has a very strict policies, many regulations and rules are set forth before students come so that they understand that the policies are strictly enforced.
College Senior 2012-12-09T17:06:30Z
The University Police system has its own Drug Task Force unit and there are constant reports of arrests that have been made.

I was under the impression that UGA's food would be divine. It's good stuff, but it's nothing to go crazy for. You can eat as much as you want for a fixed price, which is good.
College Sophomore 2012-12-07T23:14:29Z
I don't get out much, but I can tell that you can have a wild party if you want. Every home football game is a major event, too.
College Sophomore 2012-12-07T23:03:53Z
I wouldn't know much about this, but I can say that some acquaintances of mine told me they were going to do some "bad stuff" in their room.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
