Guys & Girls:
Guys and Girls – We have a really diverse male and female population. Because of the emphasis on athletics, everyone pretty much stays in shape and there is a very attractive pool of people located in Athens. Not only are people attractive, but everyone is genuinely nice.

Great Biology Opportuntites – There are so many great opportunities for biology majors. From teaching to working in a lab, you just have to get out there, and if you're in a pre-professional program as well, there are also options to volunteer in your field.

The dorms are about what is expected for on campus housing. They are nothing extravagant. The freshman high rises are probably about the worst option, but they're not terrible. Living on campus is very convenient, especially since there are always bus stops near by and the dining halls are close. The housing process is easy, and reasonably priced for what it is.

Two Words: Foot. Ball – Of course all the sports at Georgia are great, but nothing compares to football. There is nothing better than a Saturday between the hedges!!!!

Guys & Girls:
Typical Freshmen Guys and Girls – The typical freshmen girl at Georgia is in some sort of sorority and wears an oversized t-shirt, leggings, and boots to class. The guys are a bit more diverse. You have the frat boys, jocks, sweeties, and the occasional weirdo.

There are a variety of buses to ride to get around campus. The buses run frequently.

Don't park on campus without a permit, except on weekends. There are expensive fines.

Everywhere you turn, you see Greek life: on clothing, accessories, everything. All the sorority girls where big sorority t-shirts with leggings as pants.

Buses Busses Everywhere – Our campus is huge so transportation is very necessary. We have a pretty nice bus system, although they get scary close to pedestrians sometimes, and can be really unreliable after 6 pm. However, for the most part you can get anywhere on campus in 15 minutes if you know how to get around.

It's There – Greek life at Georgia is big, but it is not everything. Plenty of people do it, and plenty don't. Mostly the Greeks are known for drinking way too much and doing ridiculous things. However, there are definitely some redeeming groups who do amazing things for our community.

Sports Are Everything – At UGA football is everything. The players are like Gods, and game-days are major events. The entire campus is covered in red to black on Saturdays during the fall, and you are pretty much required to watch the games. However, UGA has tons of other sports teams too, and everyone typically has a very loyal attitude towards our athletes no matter what sport they play.

The buses are always very very crowded so not the best if you don't like being close to people. They also don't come very often at night so plan to wait for a while if you want to go somewhere in the evening.

Most classes do not have an attendance policy. They are strict about behavior around the dorms but that is good because loudness can be distracting for those who are trying to study.

The University of Georgia has a very high demanding academic expectation. Everything from housing, to parking, to football tickets is based on a point system from academics. The more hours and the higher grades the better off you are. Because of this everyone is constantly striving for more.

Fun, If You Know Where to Go. The goldmine in this school lies in the variety of activities available. For example, I am in the Redcoat marching band, Sailing Club, The Medieval and Renaissance Society (Medieval reenactors and local chapter of the SCA), and am taking an open-to-anyone Jazz Improvisation class at the school of music on tenor sax (I highly recommend this if you play anything). You can pick and choose whatever tickles your fancy, and believe me... there is EVERYTHING.

It gets hot in Athens. Really hot. I mean feel-like-you're-going-to-melt hot. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised... After all, it is the south, so I shouldn't expect snow EVERY year. Last year, however, Snopocolypse 2011 delayed the start of the semester by a week. It wasn't really too bad, but the busses couldn't run. Spring and fall, as short as they are, are beautiful, however.

Good Campus Life. While I didn't personally choose to continue living on campus, this university stands out in that staying on campus for more than 1 year is perfectly doable. The best dorms are the smaller dorms. Hill community, O house... At least for freshman. After that, I would opt for ECV for its apartment style rooms and proximity to the best dining hall, also called ECV. OR EVC. Or something. You'll graduate not knowing which is which... They do, however, cost more.
O house is my personal favorite for first year. The halls form tight knit communities with open doors and plenty of opportunity to hang out. Plus, it's directly upstairs from the second best dining hall, called O House.
The Highrise dorms are hit or miss: You can either get lucky and end up with cool people in a cool hall, or it can backfire and you can't relate to anyone. GIRLS: Unless you plan on immediately immersing yourself completely in greek culture, DON'T LIVE IN BRUMBY. Trust me.

Good Culture in a Good Area. Honestly, this campus is humongous. There may be a lot of large schools with 30,000+ student bodies, but rarely will you find one with that many people that still maintain a small town feel. This school can accommodate practically any major, as it houses many subdivided colleges and schools. It is centered in a town known for it's arts and culture, further driven by the students, many of which attend the Hugh Hodgson School of Music or the Lamar Dodd School of Art. It's a place where any given day you can choose if you want to feel like you go to a university or a small school, and then just walk north or south respectively to find a place with that feel.

Depends on a Lot – Who you hang out with, where you hang out, it all depends, really. There's usually not anything worse than smoking, especially on campus. They're pretty strict. Just like the sample response says, though, drinking is much more prevalent, especially due to the football culture at the school.

Good Dining Halls, but I Still Prefer Cooking. The University of Georgia is known for its dining halls. They are practically a must for freshmen living in dorms, as they are an invaluable social hub as well as a source of nourishment. There are no less than 4 full sized dining halls spread evenly across campus, and they all have their specific strengths. The food is good, and the options are diverse; i, for one, used the availability of the all-you-can-eat format to try a vegetarian diet. I lost 30 pounds and am healthier than ever! If you're not on the meal plan itself, there are sporadic cafes and shops run by food services that sell some of the same food. The Red Clay Cafe in east campus, for example, has a sandwich window, soups/salads, coffee, and breakfast.

Greeks Aren't Taking Over – I have yet to meet a Greek person here on campus. But there are a lot of sorority/fraternity houses for students. The houses are everywhere and I am sure that the students are too, but I just havent met any of them yet.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
