UGA is a very bustling campus on an average day with many events taking place and a sunny atmosphere for the students.

The Full College Experience – The University of Georgia covers all bases in providing the full and complete college experience. On-campus living is a requirement freshman year, and rather than complaining, most students will agree that this is one of the most fun times at school. The 4 dining halls all boast an impressive array of options, as well a convenient as-much-as-you-want setup. The athletics are rivaled by none, and there is no other school with a tradition as loved as teeing it up "between the hedges". With all of these impressive factors, as well as the superb nightlife, it becomes easy to forget how outstanding the academics are. The honors college is one of the top programs in the southeast and the business college is widely respected.

Downtown Athens – The pinnacle of college-town nightlife, downtown Athens is a rich metropolis that has something for nearly everybody. For students under 21, the music scene is thriving in Athens, and any given night there is usually an amazing concert/show at either the Georgia Theatre, the Classic Center, the Melting Point, or 40 watt music club. At age 21, downtown becomes a different entity entirely. Recently named number one party school by the Princeton Review, Athens prides itself on the number and quality of bars downtown. I have been able to compare this scene with the bar/club scenes of Clemaon, South Carolina, College of Charleston, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt, and honestly none of these schools' bar scenes come close to paralleling the majesty and splendor of downtown Athens.

Student Involvement – Anything and everything is available, you just have to get out there. It is your own fault if you do not like the athletics and your not doing something correctly or anything at all.

Environmental Resource Science – Everything is great. The program gives you an all around feel for the curriculum between the workload and job opportunities. This is the perfect institution for a degree for a career in the environment.

Good. New athletic center recently constructed for whatever you want to do.

Not the Best – Parking on campus is usually more frustrating than it's worth. A large amount of people walk around campus and only park when leaving or going to campus.

Convenient Yet Inconvenient – The UGA buses are usually running every 5-8 minutes during the day time. However, once 6 p.m. hits. It's very rare to see a UGA bus go by. Also, the UGA buses are late to their stops sometimes, which causes some students to be late to class. There are other options like biking, walking, or taking the Athens Transit. The Athens Transit runs throughout the campus and off campus as well. The Athens Transits also takes you to Target, Wal-Mart, and apartment complexes. It is free for UGA students. The cost of the transportation fee are reasonable. There really isn't much to say about long-distance transportation. You're basically going to need a car to go anywhere more than 5 minutes from campus or somewhere the buses don't go. It would be nice to see more buses running throughout the day and night. I know some students who take night classes and don't have a ride home. Sometimes they don't even go to class because of the whole ride situation.

The social atmosphere at UGA is great! It's always nice to meet new people while going out with friends. There are plenty of bars and little eateries while walking around downtown and bar hopping. However, if you're looking to relieve some stress by dancing the night away, downtown Athens is not the place to be. The atmosphere of the clubs in downtown Athens are nothing like an actual club. And the music is alright. Majority of the nightlife is for students 21 or older. There isn't much for 18+. But on the bright side, there are always house parties and fraternity/sorority events to go to which are usually free with better music selection!

The apartment I am living at now is close to the college and shops and restaurants. It is very comfortable and there are many other college students to interact with

Student Discounts – Many of the restaurants downtown offer student discounts with student IDs.

We live in Georgia. Enough said. The summers up until about October it can be grueling hot, and you need to check the weather everyday before stepping out in the months of November thru March. We don't usually have much rain, but when it does getting around campus isn't too fun. There are only a few weeks out of the school year when you can find everyone studying outside together because the weather is finally just right.

Athens nightlife is top-notch. There are over 90 bars and mostly all of them are 21 years or older, but if you know someone you can always get in. Football season brings a plethora of frat parties that it is almost overwhelming. In the spring there is at least 2 huge fraternity parties that follows their big philanthropy. Getting downtown if you life just off campus or in a dorm is a breeze. Taxis are always available and the cab drivers are usually really funny and nice. It only costs $5 to get anywhere from downtown. You can also catch people late night eating at local dives such as Little Italy.

Health & Safety:
Health & Safety – I've never felt unsafe at UGA. There is always a crowd of people and their southern hospitality always makes you feel welcome. The freshmen dorms are across the street from the government housing, but they don't bother anyone.

Athens lives for the night. We have 97+ bars in one square mile, the most in the country. Everything is open til 2 a.m. or later. Most of the nicer apartments provide downtown transport throughout the night, and there are taxis everywhere. There are a couple of places that are for 18 and olders if you pay a cover charge. There are tons of parties going on at frats (if you know a brother), apartments, and houses. You just have to know the people who go to them.

Athens: Best City in America – Not only is UGA one of the best Universities in America, it's located right next to the best place for college students in the USA: downtown Athens. There's always something going on downtown, no matter what day. Most restaurants are open til 2 a.m., if not 4 a.m., and there's always something good to eat, no matter your price range. We have the most bars per square mile in America: 97 in just one square mile, plus tons of other stuff for those who don't imbibe to do.

Even Appearing Like You're Cheating Will Get You in Trouble – I had a student tell on me for cheating last semester which is only what he thought he saw. I looked at my cell phone but the kid was just an ass hole. I was also arrested by campus police for having a fake id sooo watch your butt.

Most alive and diverse downtown, its gotten really old to me though cause I've lived here since 7th grade.
College Junior 2012-01-02T01:30:19Z
I find myself very alone at school. There's hoards of people that are diverse in almost every way, but no one seems very happy. Everyone keeps to themselves and stays on their cell phones.

Most students here are in state and get the Hope Scholarship which is handled through the state and is automatically applied for through Fasfa. Otherwise I cannot comment on any other process because I don't receive aid from UGA.
College Senior 2011-12-30T05:59:09Z
Buses, Buses, Buses – UGA is such a large campus and parking is only in specific areas. Like most state schools, this is a walking, biking, and riding campus. You will not be able to park outside of your classrooms. We have quads, but buses are always coming and the bus system is extensive.

I do all my printing on campus and it's very reliable. During peak class hours like 10 - 3 the computers are the most difficult to find and at night, but not bad enough to annoy you.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
