Georgia weather is crazy. Summers are very hot and humid. In fall you can experience all of the seasons. Rain one day, Hot the next, then cold the next day!

Not Very Diverse – White kids mostly. Random packs of cultured groups that mostly only hangout with each other.

I love that it's far enough away from home that I'm forced to be independent, but at the same time it's close enough that if things get really bad home is an hour away. I'm doing really well balancing school and work, and I'm really enjoying my time here at the University of Georgia!

Never Seen, Only Heard. I've never seen anyone actually doing drugs, but people do discuss them.

I Live on Campus. I live on campus, but have visited a friend's apartment. I was impressed with the quality apartment she lived in for the amount of rent she was paying monthly.

Age Requirement – Athens is a very small town so with the University being there it became a college town. The school is literally across the street from downtown athens which has all the clubs and the bars, but this is pointless if you are not 21 and up. But its not so bad because there are a lot of clubs that host 18 and up parties as well as there being a lot of parties on campus. I mean we are the number one party school in america!

An Awesome Combination of Everything – the university offers its students tons of different subjects to study. the curriculum is not so hard, enough to teach the students what they need to learn. the professors are helpful at times. depending on how many hours the student is taking, the workload could increase. the registration process is smooth.

Our education program allows students to participate in the classroom in their junior year. Students are expected to not just observe but actually participate in the teaching and lessons that go on in the classroom. This has been a great advantage for me personally because it allowed me to ensure that this is the correct career path for me.

Recently there have been restrictions placed on areas to tailgate. Our president has also made a list of things we cannot have on the grounds while tailgating such as big screen televisions, kegs and other things that may cause damage to the property. We were recently voted number one party school which has caused an increase in police patrolling during the evenings in the downtown area.

Overall there is a good night life scence in Athens. They are over 90 bars in the downtown area. Many of the fraternities put on parties on game weekends. The buses are running until 10 pm during the week so students can use the buses to get downtown. They are plenty of cabs for the ride home that are usually about $5 per person depending on how far your destination is.

The computers at UGA include Dell and Apple computers and there is many computer labs scattered across the UGA campus. So, therefore, it is easily accessible and ready to use. It can be crowded sometimes, but you can always find an empty computer to use.

We have a lot of buses that run by throughout the night. The negative part is that they become extremely cramped and crowded. Another negative aspect is that at nighttime, buses run once every thirty minutes, limiting student transportation at night.

Permit Costs – The permit costs is pretty pricey. It around around $350 a year. It is hard to get a permit because it is offered to freshmen first. Upper classmen have a difficult time obtaining one.

There are lots of parking garages but it is hard to get a permit and they are really expensive when you do get one. Also, you have to have a permit to park basically anywhere on campus. If you don't have a permit, you have to take the bus. And they are really strict about parking violations.

Freshmen year we had to live on campus and I loved it! Everyone is close to one another. If you needed to study or wanted to hang out a friend was always near. It was also great being able to walk to all of my classes. Also, our meal plan serves amazing food and is also open 24 hours a day. So living in the dorms and being on meal plan was a great combination!

Rain Sucks – It doesn't rain too terribly much, but when it does, it pours. Rain boots are life savers because the campus doesn't drain well during monsoons.

Alcohol and Adderall – Students here LOVE to drink, but also realize that school requires focus and attention. So they party up and then pop an adderall to stay up all night studying for exams.

There are plenty of computers for student use throughout the school. Almost every major academic building has some sort of computer lab, with great internet connection. Although, printing is almost never free, it is usually 5 or 10 cents a page.

Not Bad – There is nowhere to go if you are under 21 (unless you have a fake ID) But there are plenty of things to do without alcohol. You can usually find some sort of dance party or hangout, especially with this group known as "Phi Slam".
Sorry, there are no reviews.
